Every year, an increasing number of summer residents begin to plant tomatoes in their plots. Today you can find a wide variety of seeds of a culture that can grow and bear fruit perfectly both in regions with an arid climate, and in the cold summer regions of Siberia and the Urals. Tomato Peach stands out among the varieties for its original appearance and delicious taste.
Breeding history
Created by Russian breeders Gavrish S.F., Morev V.V., Amcheslavskaya E.V., Volok O.A. on the basis of LLC "Gavrish Breeding Company" in 2002.
Description of the variety
The plant is of a determinate type, compact and small in height, no more than 50 cm. The stems are quite strong and powerful. The leaves are large, dark green in color. Above 7-8 leaves, a flower inflorescence is formed, every 1-2 leaves follow. Tomatoes are capable of forming ovaries in all weather conditions. The peduncle is articulated. 5-6 tomatoes are formed on the tassel. The harvested fruits lie well and easily tolerate transportation.
The advantages of the variety include:
unusual appearance;
sweet taste without sourness;
ease of care;
relatively high frost resistance;
resistance to most diseases typical of tomatoes;
wide area of cultivation;
stable fruiting, regardless of the temperature regime.
There are practically no drawbacks. Some gardeners may experience low yields. Although this is due to high expectations. The variety was not originally created as a high-yielding variety.
The main qualities of the fruit
The shape of vegetables is evenly round, without ribbing. They are small, weighing 98-106 g. At the stage of technical ripeness, the color is creamy-orange, which explains the high content of beta-carotene. The peel is smooth, with barely visible villi. Ripe fruits do not fall off the bush.
Taste characteristics
Tomatoes have a very sweet taste without acid. The fruits are juicy due to the presence of a small amount of dry matter in the pulp. The amount of sugar reaches 10%, which determines their unusual sweetness. Ideal for baby and diet food. Very tasty juices are obtained from them, they can be preserved whole. Best consumed fresh.
Ripening and fruiting
Peach belongs to the early maturing category. Full technical ripeness occurs at 85-95 days. Harvesting begins in July and continues until September.
Yield
In the open field, they collect 6-8 kg, in greenhouse conditions, 9-11 kg per square meter.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Sowing seeds for seedlings begins in March, they begin to plant in a greenhouse in April, in open ground in May. To accelerate germination, seeds are pre-disinfected in a weak solution of potassium permanganate and soaked in a preparation that stimulates development.
To get healthy and strong seedlings, it is better to use ready-made soil or mix ordinary garden soil with sawdust and sand. And also you should take care of the lighting, which should be a lot, at least 12 hours.
If the seeds were sown in a container, then it is necessary to pick into separate containers.This procedure will allow the seedlings to better develop the root system and it is easier to transfer the transplant to a permanent place. A few weeks before planting in open ground, the seedlings are hardened.
The plant is planted in a permanent place only when warm weather sets in, and the threat of night frosts has passed.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
Before proceeding with planting, planting holes are preliminarily prepared, no more than 10-15 cm deep. The manufacturer recommends planting plants at a distance of 40x60 cm from each other, that is, no more than 3-4 seedlings per 1 sq. m. The optimal time for planting is evening or in cloudy weather.
Growing and caring
Before planting, you should add either mineral or organic fertilizing to the prepared planting holes. However, it is important that the roots do not come into contact with the fertilizer; for this, a layer of fertile soil is laid. After that, you can start planting seedlings in a permanent place.
In the northern regions, seedlings should be planted first under a film. This will allow the culture to adapt to the harsh conditions and get used to the new temperature. After planting, the plants are watered abundantly.
Subsequent care for such an unpretentious variety is minimal. Watering is carried out as the soil dries, but abundantly and only at the root. Mulching keeps moisture in the soil. Peach practically does not form side shoots, therefore, it is not necessary to carry out pinching of bushes.
If the tomato is grown in greenhouse conditions, care must be taken to ensure good air circulation. For this, the room is regularly ventilated. It is not necessary to bring additional food, it is enough that was added at the time of landing. Nevertheless, the variety responds positively to soil enrichment. When fruits begin to form on the bushes, fertilizers are stopped adding.
Tomato Peach does not require a garter. The exception is the formation of a large number of fruits, because of which the stems under the mass can break off.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Tomato Peach is highly resistant to infectious diseases typical for the culture: root rot, powdery mildew, late blight, spotted mosaic, stem and leaf cancer, white rot, gray rot. In addition, the plant is absolutely not afraid of aphids, bears, wireworms and spider mites. However, for the purpose of prevention, the bushes are sprayed with special preparations from the moment the inflorescences form.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
The variety is absolutely unpretentious to temperature cataclysms, and has a high endurance.
Growing regions
Can be cultivated in all regions of the country.
Review overview
According to consumer reviews, the seeds of the culture sprout amicably, do not require special skills in growing, which even a novice summer resident can handle. But some gardeners note an average yield and poor keeping quality.
