The Lazy Dream variety deserves maximum attention. Gardeners will have to study the peculiarities of its cultivation. It is also worth taking a closer look at the botanical specifics of this culture.
Breeding history
The development of the Dream of a Bummer was engaged in LLC "Agrofirma Belogorka". The project was supervised by breeders Sedyakov and Kuznetsova. The plant was entered into the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2008.
Important: Do not confuse this variety with the tomato of the same name from Jonson.
Description of the variety
Tomato Lazy Dream has an official synonym - Lazy Dream. It is a determinant variety with versatile characteristics. It is possible to grow such a culture both in the open field and in greenhouses under plastic wrap. The bushes reach a height of 0.6 m. Long and moderately wide leaves of a light green color are similar to those with which carrots are crowned.
The main qualities of the fruit
The key properties are simple:
- light green in immature stage;
- red in ripe tomatoes;
- usual weight 0.13 kg;
- formation from simple inflorescences;
- decent keeping quality in dry cool places.
Taste characteristics
To taste, the fruits of the Lazy Dream are similar to other tomatoes. Therefore, they are perceived as "ordinary tomato flavor." Otherwise, they are nothing special.
Ripening and fruiting
This variety belongs to the early group of tomatoes. It ripens on average 93 days after germination. We must always remember that weather conditions can make significant adjustments to such a schedule. Another nuance is that the duration of fruiting is not negotiated by the suppliers of the planting material.
Yield
The ability to produce 4.8 kg of berries per 1 sq. m. This result allows us to consider the culture as a moderately prolific variety. However, on the other hand, the described productivity is achieved steadily, which will certainly delight thoughtful gardeners.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Sowing seeds in containers is justified 55-60 days before the expected transfer into the ground. In each region, this period is set individually. Be sure to take into account the actual weather.
Since this is a variety and not a hybrid, seeds from the previous crop can be used for planting. Disinfection of seed material is carried out in the same way as usual.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The recommended distance between individual plants is 700 mm. The row spacing is set at about 300 mm. There is no point in choosing other options for seating.
Growing and care
There is no particular need to play the dream of a lazy boy if the bushes are developing normally. The formation of the bushes is carried out in 1 or 2 stems. The official description insists that the variety tolerates exposure well:
- late blight;
- verticillosis;
- fusarium wilting;
- tobacco mosaic;
- powdery mildew.
But experienced summer residents have long known that all such promises are not very accurate. And in specific conditions, plants can still get sick. Therefore, the need for preventive treatments can hardly be questioned. In order for the seedlings to develop more fully, its supplementary lighting is recommended. At the same time, the temperature is maintained at 15 degrees.
Even before planting in open ground, the culture should be fed twice. Excessive moisture is contraindicated for this variety. It will be necessary to loosen and mulch the earth. You also can't do without weeding. For feeding, it is most advisable to adapt drip irrigation systems.
Transfer of seedlings to the greenhouse is possible already in mid-April. But accurate and detailed information about the Tomato Dream of a Bummer is not enough, its features are sparingly covered in published sources. You can be guided by the agronomic strategy common to any early tomato.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
