To date, a huge number of tomato varieties have been bred. It is sometimes difficult for gardeners without experience to make a choice in favor of one or more varieties. Widespread are universal varieties that can be grown in closed (film greenhouses) or open ground. These characteristics are possessed by the Marshal Pobeda variety.
Description of the variety
The type of growth of the bushes is indeterminate. These are tall plants that reach a height of two meters. Vigorous bushes are covered with leaves of medium length, the color is light green. Due to their large growth, the plants need support and a garter. Leafiness is weak. The first brush is formed over 6 or 7 leaves. On each of them, from 6 to 8 ovaries are formed. The inflorescences are simple.
The harvested crop is used as follows:
preparation of juices and juicy sauces;
eating in natural form;
ingredient for salads and snacks.
The main qualities of the fruit
A dark green spot at the base of the fruit is a characteristic feature of unripe vegetables. Their color is light green. As they mature, their color changes to a bright red. The average weight of large tomatoes varies from 300 to 400 grams, and some of them can reach up to 1 kilogram. Fruits with a uniform color are covered with few ribs. The shape is rounded and slightly flattened.
The peel is dense and reliably protects the crop from cracking. The pulp is very juicy and medium in density, sugary. High keeping quality of fruits was noted. Inside, there are 4 to 6 seed chambers with a small amount of seed.
Taste characteristics
The gastronomic quality of the variety is high. The taste is pronounced. It harmoniously combines sweetness and sour notes.
Ripening and fruiting
Marshal Pobeda is a mid-season variety. The formation and maturation of vegetables takes from 110 to 115 days.
Yield
When growing this variety, even gardeners without rich experience will be able to achieve high yields. From a square meter of a garden bed, they collect from 5.3 to 5.4 kilograms of vegetables. Ripe tomatoes are not afraid of long transportation.
The variety pleasantly surprises with the yield in any type of soil and for any of the cultivation options, however, some gardeners advise cultivating in greenhouse conditions.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
The seedlings that are suitable for transplanting to a new location should be about 60 days old. Therefore, you need to sow seeds for seedlings 2 months before the expected date of planting. For transplanting seedlings, suitable weather conditions must be established. Early spring frosts should pass without a trace, and the soil should warm up enough.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The maximum planting density is from 3 to 4 bushes per square meter of territory. If you thicken the bed more, the seedlings will start to hurt. And it can also negatively affect fruiting.
Growing and care
When growing varieties Marshal Pobeda, it is imperative to carry out pinching. The lateral shoots are removed carefully so as not to damage the plant. When removing, you need to leave a small "stump" so that the stepson does not start growing again. This procedure is a must if you want to get the maximum yield of the highest quality.
The second prerequisite is a garter. This procedure is necessary for all tall plants so that the bushes do not interfere with each other's growth and fruiting. And also due to the supports, long shoots will not bend to the ground under the weight of large vegetables. Bushes are formed into one stem.
The rest of the tomato care is as follows.
Water the bushes under the root so that moisture does not get on the branches, stem or leaves. For irrigation, warm and settled water is prepared.
The top layer of soil is loosened to prevent weeds from filling the site. And also the roots will receive the required amount of oxygen.
For fertilization, mineral fertilizing is often used. Ready-made complex formulations that can be bought at any gardening store have proven themselves well.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Young plants are often attacked by pests such as caterpillars, aphids or slugs. To combat them, folk remedies are great. They are effective and will not harm the fruit. Soap and saline solutions, herbal infusions (wormwood, garlic, celandine) and ammonia solution are used.
If the variety is grown in comfortable conditions, in compliance with all the rules of agricultural technology, the plants practically do not get sick. When cultivating tomatoes in greenhouses, the room is regularly ventilated to prevent moisture stagnation.
