Such a magnificent, and moreover, aristocratic name should not be misleading. This is a very common tomato, bred in Siberia. Attention should be paid to all the features of such a culture and the peculiarities of its cultivation.

Breeding history

Lord was created at the research center of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The breeders Domanskaya, Gubko, Orlova, Salmina, Dmitrienko and Chernovolova worked on the project. For crossing, biological material of the varieties Burkovsky Early, K600 and Iskorka was used. The official cultivation permit was given in 2010.

Description of the variety

Lord is a versatile tomato with a determinant variant of development. It is advised to cultivate it both in ordinary soil and in greenhouses under plastic wrap. Basically, the plant is used for plantation, and not for simple gardening. Its low bushes rise to a maximum of 0.4-0.5 m. The stems differ in power and belong to the erect type.

Other important points:

  • the presence of a trunk;
  • foliage of medium and large size;
  • pinnate structure of leaves.

The main qualities of the fruit

The Lord's berries are characterized by high marketability. It remains, which is important, even during long-term transportation. When ripening, the initially green fruits turn red. Their average mass ranges from 0.069 to 0.098 kg.

In shape, the fruit is similar to an ordinary chicken egg. Berries with a smooth surface develop from simple inflorescences and have articulated stalks.

Taste characteristics

The pulp of this variety is of medium density. Good meatiness is also typical for her. The proportion of dry matter ranges from 4.2 to 5.5%. The share of sugar accounts for not less than 2.2% and not more than 3.2%. In general, the gastronomic impression of this culture is positive.

Ripening and fruiting

Tomato Lord belongs to the mid-season group. On average, it takes 103 days to harvest. The specific term, as always, depends on specific parameters. Both the actual weather and agricultural technology are important here. You can harvest the crop during July - August.

Yield

Harvesting can range from 143 to 262 centners per hectare. Of this number, up to 95% of the fruits will meet the criteria for marketability. Such a strong inconsistency implies a high value of agricultural technology and other growing parameters.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

It is necessary to sow seeds in seedling containers in March or April. The greenhouse is transplanted in April or May. If it is necessary to grow a crop in the open field, the transshipment period is shifted to June. Be sure to take into account the temperature of the soil and air.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The distance between individual bushes is normally 30 cm. The normal row spacing is 50 cm. There is no point in deviating from these proportions recommended by the suppliers of planting material and tested in practice. For 1 sq. m there may be 5 or 6 bushes.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Watering the Lord tomato should be 2 or 3 times a week, and in moderation. It is definitely recommended to mulch this culture. Of the fertilizers, it is advised to use:

  • urea;
  • potassium sulfate;
  • nitrogen-based mixtures;
  • superphosphate;
  • eggshell infusions;
  • yeast infusions;
  • dandelion or nettle infusions;
  • cow dung solution.

It is advisable to saturate the soil in advance with compost and mixtures of phosphorus with potassium. The seedlings are hardened in the last week before planting. It is performed at a temperature of 14 degrees. Particular attention should be paid to the prevention of fungal infection (through treatments with "Fitosporin"). Tobacco mosaic and fusarium are almost not scary.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

Now the Lord is zoned for Western Siberia. All recommendations for growing refer specifically to her. However, residents of areas with a milder climate can also try this variety. You just need to take into account that in each specific place the conditions will be very different. Accordingly, you will have to experiment and put up with the fact that at first the result will not justify the efforts made.
