For many gardeners, the characteristics of the crops grown are very important. One of the most demanded is early maturity. Tomato Lyrica belongs to such varieties.
Breeding history
In 2017, the Partner company began to develop a new variety of tomatoes. The main goal was to obtain a crop with a short ripening period and fast fruiting. The author was the breeder O.D. Kiramov, and in 2018 the hybrid was approved for use. The culture is also found under the name Lyrica F1.
Description of the variety
The hybrid is considered undersized, determinant. The height of the bush is no more than 65-75 cm. The stems are powerful, well-developed, dark green in color. The crown is compact, the branches are not spreading. Due to their small growth, the bushes can not be tied to a support only if a small number of fruits are formed on the branches.
Leaves are medium-sized, deep green in color, matte. On the surface of sheet platinum, there are: a middle section, veins and pubescence. From severe drought or sun, leaves can begin to curl or bend in different directions.
The first inflorescences are formed under the fourth pair of leaves from below, the subsequent ones - after one. From 6 to 8 fruits are formed on one branch. The buds can be thinned out in order to get a larger harvest. The stalk is firmly attached to the vegetable, so the fruit does not fall to the ground.
The recommended number of stems during formation is 4-5 pieces.
The advantages of Lyrics include:
immunity to a number of fungal diseases;
growing in open or closed ground;
ripening period;
yield;
taste qualities;
universal application;
shelf life;
transportability.
Of the shortcomings, a small mass of fruits can be noted.
The main qualities of the fruit
Fruits are medium-sized, round or flat-round in shape with slight ribbing at the base of the peduncle. The color of vegetables is red, in unripe vegetables it is light green. The skin is dense, strong, does not crack. The weight of one fruit is 135-140 g. The larger ones are located on the lower branches, ripen only at the very beginning and their weight can reach 180 g.
The pulp is white-red, juicy, dense, fleshy with a slight wateriness. Inside there are 2 chambers with a small content of small seeds.
The tomato is versatile, so the fruits can be eaten fresh, used for salads and snacks, canning and pickling, and also used for making juices with pulp.
Taste characteristics
Many gardeners note the sweet taste of tomatoes with a slight sourness.
Ripening and fruiting
Tomato Lyrica is an early ripening culture. Ripening period 95 days for open ground and 75-80 days for indoor. The fruits are formed amicably, but the fruiting is extended. The crop is harvested in several stages from July to September.
Yield
The amount of the crop directly depends on the place where the crop was grown, on average, the figures from 1 m2 are 15.3-16.5 kg. With proper care, you can collect up to 20 kg.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
In the southern regions, seeds can be sown immediately in open ground, and thanks to their qualities, the seeds will sprout on their own. It is important to note that before planting, the land should be fertilized and loosened. It should be warm enough.
For colder regions, seeds should first germinate in small containers. To do this, in March, the seeds are soaked in water, and then in a solution of potassium permanganate. Fresh and fertilized soil is poured into the seedling boxes. Shallow holes are made in the soil - 2 cm.
After sowing, the soil is spilled, covered with a film. The seedling boxes are stowed away on the windowsill. After seed germination, the film is removed.
The room temperature should be +22 degrees. Watering seedlings should be no more than 1-2 times a week. Top dressing should be applied after each watering.
The dive is carried out after the plant has formed 2-3 strong leaves. The seedlings are again exposed to the windowsill, only now it must be protected from direct sunlight. Since the leaves are still weak, they can get burned.
10 days before planting in the ground, the seedlings gradually acclimatize. The transplant is carried out in May or June, depending on the growing region.
Before the pick, the selected area is dug up and poured abundantly with water, then pits are formed, and a small amount of ammonium nitrate can be poured onto the bottom to stimulate growth and good development of greenery.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The depth of the hole is 15 cm, and the distance between the bushes should be 50x60 cm. On average, there should be 4-5 plants per 1 m2. This is necessary in order to subsequently facilitate the care of the crop, harvesting, and also to create normal conditions for air circulation.
Growing and care
In order to increase the yield and health of seedlings, it is necessary to observe some agrotechnical points.
According to many gardeners, the Lyrica tomato loves moisture very much. Therefore, it is worth adhering to the watering schedule, at least twice a day. If it is a dry summer, then irrigation occurs every other day. If the culture grows in the beds, a lot will depend on the weather conditions and the amount of rainfall.
Stepping is done in a timely manner. The number of stems on the bush should be no more than 4-5, all other stepsons are removed with a sharp blade. You should not break off excess leaves or branches, as you can damage the stem. This can cause sap to collect in the open wound and attract pests. If thickening is allowed, the yield will decrease.
Weeding is carried out 1-2 times a week, all weeds are removed, and at this time the earth around the bush is loosened. Loosening helps break up dry soil and oxygenates it.
Due to the short stature, the stems may not be tied up in the first stages. But during the period of formation and ripening of fruits, this moment needs to be paid attention. If the trunk is leaning under the weight of the crop, then it should be tied up.
In dry summers, the soil can be mulched with sawdust or dry hay. The mulch will prevent weeds from growing and will also retain moisture.
Top dressing is applied several times per season. A week after planting in the ground, the bushes can be treated with nitrogen-containing minerals. At the time of ovary and fruit formation, potassium and phosphorus are most often used. Among natural fertilizers, seedlings are irrigated with a liquid solution of poultry manure, manure, peat and wood ash.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
The Lyrica hybrid has a good immunity to diseases such as:
late blight;
tobacco mosaic;
top rot;
alternaria.
But it is still worth carrying out preventive spraying at least twice a season.
Among the pests are noted:
Colorado potato beetle;
bear;
whitefly;
snails;
slugs.
In order to avoid the appearance of insects, the Lyrica tomato can be irrigated with a solution of Bordeaux mixture or copper sulfate. Among folk remedies, soap and garlic solutions are considered popular.
