Each variety of vegetable crops has a certain number of characteristics, thanks to which gardeners make a choice in favor of one or another variety. Tomatoes, which have a wide range of advantages, are knocked out as leaders, and one of them is Limerens. To achieve high yields, you need to know the peculiarities of its cultivation.
Description of the variety
The hybrid tomato has got a determinant type of growth. The purpose of the fruit is universal. The bushes are planted in plastic greenhouses or in open ground. Low-growing plants grow up to a maximum of 50-60 centimeters. They are compact and do not take up much space on the site. During the growing season, a small number of stems are formed, which cover small dark green leaves. Due to this characteristic, tomatoes ripen well, since the foliage does not block the path of the sun's rays.
The type of inflorescences is simple. The first can be found after 6-7 leaves, then every 2-3. Up to eight ovaries grow in one fruit cluster.
The main qualities of the fruit
As with other varieties of tomatoes, unripe fruits remain green. Ripe vegetables turn into a rich pink (raspberry) color. There is no spot at the place of attachment of the peduncle. In mass, they gain about 120 grams. The shape is round, slightly ribbed with a "spout" at the end. Under the glossy rind, there is a dense and bright red or pink flesh. All fruits are of the same size, even. The skin is thin and firm.
No white streaks are seen when cut. Inside, from 4 to 5 chambers are formed, filled with small seeds.
Taste characteristics
The Limerens variety has high gastronomic qualities, thanks to which it has found wide application and distribution. Of the 5 possible points, professional tasters assigned 4.8 points to the fruit.
Ripening and fruiting
Aging times are from 90 to 95 days. During this time, young shoots have time to transform into full-fledged bushes and form a ripe crop. Tomato belongs to the early varieties. Vegetables are harvested from July to August.
Yield
The yield is indicated as high. 15.8 kilograms of vegetables are harvested from one square of the plantation. One bush forms more than 3 kilograms of fruit. The yield indicator depends on the density of the planting.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
In March, seeds are sown for seedlings, and young bushes are planted in the ground from May to June. In order for the seeds to germinate and not suffer from diseases and infections during the growing season, you need to perform a certain number of actions. A spoonful of salt is diluted in a liter of water, and the seeds are placed in the resulting solution for 15 minutes. For germination, only those that have sunk to the bottom are used.
The second method of processing is the use of a composition of potassium permanganate. A little substance is dissolved in a liter so that the water acquires a light pink color. The seeds are soaked in it for 20 minutes. This procedure will protect the bushes from possible diseases.
For growing seedlings, compact containers and suitable soil are prepared in advance, which includes peat, turf and a small amount of river sand. The seed is deepened by 0.5 centimeters. After it is sprinkled with a small amount of soil and irrigated. The container with the seeds is covered with a strong film and transferred to a dark but warm place for better germination. The shelters are removed immediately after the first shoots appear, and the containers are transferred to the sun.
The pick is performed after the formation of 3-4 true leaves. Each sprout is transferred to a separate pot. Under these conditions, the seedlings will grow until they are transferred to a permanent planting site. Young plants are watered, and a couple of weeks after the pick they are fertilized with mineral compounds.
About 14 days before transplanting the bushes to the site, they are hardened. To do this, it is enough just to take out the container with sprouts to the street or balcony. For the first time, they are taken out into the fresh air in the daytime and left for a short time (about 30 minutes). Seedlings can be left 7 days before transplanting for a day.
The transfer of bushes to the ground is performed immediately after 6-8 full-fledged leaves appear on them. The work is carried out only under favorable weather conditions. The soil should warm up to 10 degrees, and the air temperature should be from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. The main condition is that the early spring frosts are irretrievable.
The land plot is prepared in advance. It is cleaned of weeds and fed with organic compounds. After fertilization, the soil is dug up. Next, the landing is marked and holes are made. Their thickness should be such that, when landing, the lower leaves remain above the ground.
Irrigation is mandatory after transplantation. The beds are covered with foil to create a greenhouse effect. The shelter is left until mid-July. The film is removed only during daylight hours and in dry weather. During precipitation, tomatoes must always be under the film.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
Gardeners recommend planting a maximum of 5 bushes on one square meter of territory, adhering to a scheme of 50x50 centimeters.
Growing and care
The Limerens variety does not have special requirements for care, but certain agrotechnical measures must be observed. Due to the resistance of this vegetable crop to hot and dry air, it is enough to water the beds once a week. It is important to create favorable conditions for plants, avoiding high humidity. Dampness is the main reason for the development of fungus and rotting of the root system. For irrigation, only settled and warm water is used. The liquid is poured under the root so that it does not get on the shoots and leaves. Moisten the soil only in the evening.
Fruit crops need regular fertilization. If nutrients were not added to the soil before planting the seedlings, the first portion of fertilizer is used two weeks after transplanting the seedlings. Experienced summer residents are advised to opt for organic. Peat, humus or manure are great. You can also moisten the tomatoes with a solution of ash. To prepare it, dissolve 1 kilogram of ash in a bucket of water. The composition is poured into the root. Up to a liter of solution is used per plant.
The second time fertilizers are used during the formation of buds. Nitrogen supplements or superphosphate are suitable. The third portion is brought in during fruiting. Potash compositions show good results. They have a positive effect on yields and give the fruit an appetizing aroma.
Another component of agricultural technology is regular pinching. During flowering, you need to get rid of the layer of lower leaves. And also remove the lateral processes that are formed in the sinuses of the plant. When fruiting, small branches are cut off, on which there are no ovaries and fruits.
Bushes form into 2 or 3 stems. This structure of the plant has a beneficial effect on fruiting.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Tomato Limerens has an innate resistance to infections and diseases, from which fruit crops often suffer. The variety is not afraid of top rot, late blight, TMV and other ailments.
