For farmers and summer residents, the most acceptable type of tomato for growing is the variety that is not capricious to care for, highly productive, versatile in use, and also does not take up much space on the site. A striking representative of just such varieties is the tomato Lakomka.

Breeding history

The early variety Lakomka is the fruit of the successful work of Russian breeders under the leadership of I. Yu. Kondratyeva. Bred more than 20 years ago, and enrolled in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia and approved for use in 2003. Recommended for cultivation in all regions of the Russian Federation.

Description of the variety

Tomato Gourmand is a low-growing bush of a determinant type, the height of which does not exceed 55-60 cm. The semi-sprawling plant has a moderate thickening of green leaves, a developed root system and a simple type of inflorescence. The first fruit cluster is formed above 8-9 leaves, where 4-6 ovaries are formed.

When growing a culture, it is recommended to form a bush in 1 stem, a garter, since the stem and branches under the weight of tomatoes can bend and break off, as well as the mandatory observance of density. Some experienced gardeners believe that it is possible to form 2-3 stems, which will improve yield indicators. You should also not pick off excess leaves, since the leafiness of the plant is rather weak. The bush does not need to be pinned, since new stepchildren grow very slowly. Tomatoes Lakomka is a versatile variety, delicious fresh, processed and canned.

The main qualities of the fruit

The Gourmet tomato is a vivid representative of medium-sized tomatoes, the weight of which ranges from 100 to 120 grams. In a state of full ripeness, the fruit is evenly colored in a bright crimson color, and in an unripe form, the berries are light green with a speck at the base, which passes as they ripen. The shape of tomatoes is classic, round, familiar to most tomatoes. Berries of approximately the same shape and size grow. The skin of the berries is perfectly smooth and shiny, without any ribbing. Despite the fact that the peel of the fruit is thin, it perfectly protects them from the appearance of cracks on the surface. In addition, the variety is characterized by good transportability.

Taste characteristics

Tomatoes Lakomka captivate with their taste. They are very tasty, sweetish, with a slight sourness. The flesh of the berries is fleshy, dense, sugary, with a small amount of seeds, and also without a white core inside. The aroma of tomatoes is spicy, pronounced. As for the juiciness, it is high, completely without wateriness.

Ripening and fruiting

Tomatoes of this species belong to the class of early ripening vegetables. Less than 4 months (105-110 days) pass from the moment of full germination of sprouts to the appearance of ripe fruits on the hands. The ripening phase of the fruits is not extended, that is, the tomatoes ripen at the same time. July is an active harvesting period for tasty and ripe tomatoes. Some farmers and agrarians claim that this type of tomato can be harvested several times per season.

Yield

As practice shows, the yield of the variety is impressive, despite the fact that the bushes are quite compact, and the fruiting period will not be delayed. Observing all agrotechnical rules, up to 6-7 kg of tomatoes can be removed from 1 m2. Growing a crop in a greenhouse, yields are even higher - up to 15-18 kg of fruits.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing seeds for seedlings is best done at the end of March - 55-60 days before transplanting to the garden. It is better to immediately cover the seedlings with glass or polyethylene, which will significantly speed up the process of seed germination. Seedlings grow well in a room with a temperature of + 22 ... 25 degrees, which is well lit 14-16 hours a day. At the stage of the appearance of 3 leaves, you can make a pick. 10-14 days before transplanting, the bushes should be hardened, exposing them to fresh air, which will help the plants quickly and stress-free adapt to new growth conditions.

You can transplant seedlings into the ground at the stage when the bush has 6-7 true leaves. In this case, the average daily air temperature should be + 12 ... 15 degrees. If it is planned to plant bushes under a film shelter, then this can be done in mid-May, and on the beds - in early June. After planting in the ground, shelter with spunbond or agrofibre will help protect the bushes of seedlings from frost.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

When growing a vegetable, it is imperative to observe the density and planting pattern of bushes. It is recommended to plant up to 6-7 bushes of seedlings per 1 m2, which will allow the plant to grow and develop. The optimal layout for landing is 50x40 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

The variety is grown in a simple seedling way. Tomatoes love loose, breathable, fertile and moderately moist soil. Gourmet, like all other tomato varieties, needs care. These are regular watering, fertilizing, loosening, mulching and weeding the soil, the formation and tying of bushes, the removal of leaves shading tomatoes and overgrown stepchildren (more than 4 cm long), the prevention of viruses. When growing a crop in greenhouse conditions, do not forget about regular ventilation.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety has a high immunity to standard tomato infections and viruses. Tomatoes bypass late blight due to the fact that they ripen quickly. Timely spraying with special preparations will help protect the culture from the invasion of insects. In addition, this species has a genetic resistance to apical rot. The weak side of the variety is considered to be insufficient immunity to fungal diseases.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Tomatoes are undemanding to growing conditions. They can easily withstand prolonged heat and drought in the summer, as well as resistant to prolonged rains. In addition, the culture tolerates sharp temperature fluctuations. The only thing that should be controlled is the level of moisture, the lack or excessiveness of which can cause some plant diseases.

Growing regions

Culture grows in all climatic zones not only in Russia, but also in Ukraine and Moldova. For a plentiful harvest, it is necessary to select the optimal growing conditions - film greenhouses or heated ones, or a garden bed in a personal plot.

Review overview

Gourmand tomatoes are the favorites of many summer residents and farmers. This is due to the numerous advantages of this species - abundant and stable yields, unpretentious care, compactness of bushes, fast and early ripening, as well as excellent taste.

The disadvantages of the variety, according to gardeners' reviews, include the appearance of cracks in the peel during heat treatment of tomatoes and not very strong immunity to fungal diseases.
