Tomato Cascade has the potential to reward people with, indeed, abundant fruiting. However, such an attractive result is achieved only in the case of informed choice and careful preparation. Therefore, it is necessary to first collect as much information as possible about this culture.

Breeding history

The Cascade variety was developed by the agro-technological company "Agros". Among the developers of culture are breeders Kachainik, Kamanin, Matyunina, Gulkin, Karmanova. The state registration of tomatoes (together with a permit for practical cultivation) has been in effect since 2010.

Description of the variety

The cascade is characterized by indeterminate developmental dynamics. This plant is ideal for growing in greenhouses under plastic. Its bushes are capable of growing up to 1.5-1.7 m. They are characterized by a strong and powerful development, but at the same time, a significant compactness of plantings is also an advantage. A highly developed root system, along with the stem, supplies light green foliage of medium size with nutrients.

The main qualities of the fruit

Cascade berries, initially showing a light green color, will gradually turn red as they develop. On average, tomatoes weigh about 90 g. They are cylindrical in shape and have only slightly pronounced ribs. For 1 brush, up to 24 berries are obtained from intermediate inflorescences. They are distinguished by excellent marketability.

Taste characteristics

According to the estimates of the farmers, such a tomato has an expressive excellent taste. Typical for him is a remarkable sweetness. It is necessary to emphasize the presence of a weak sour taste. It leaves no discomfort.

Ripening and fruiting

The variety belongs to the mid-ripening group, and the ripeness of the berries is reached at the usual time for it. It will take a long time to collect the fruits. Mostly the collection takes place in July and August.

Yield

The plant belongs to the high-yielding group. It can give 7.4 kg of fruit per 1 sq. m. It is worth emphasizing that such a result is achieved only with carefully calibrated agricultural technology.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

It is necessary to prepare containers with the planting mixture and put the seeds there during March. Usually, seedlings are ready for transfer to an open area or to a greenhouse already in May. But sometimes this can only be achieved in June. It must be emphasized that the decisive role is played not only by the readiness of the plants themselves, but also by the degree of warming up of the earth.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The gap between the planting holes should be at least 0.4 m. The permissible distance between the rows (if bushes are planted in several strips) is at least 1.2 m. Deviation from these norms entails very unpleasant consequences.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Mandatory procedures will be:

  • elimination of stepchildren;

  • formation of bushes;

  • garter to the supports.

It is necessary to form plantings strictly in 1 stem. It is stated that this tomato is resistant to late blight. Fungal infections, bacteria, and tobacco mosaics are also unlikely. But you shouldn't rely heavily on natural immunity. It would be much more correct to carry out preventive treatments with all clarity.

Tomato Cascade develops best on sandy loam. The use of areas with an acidity of more than 6.5 is not allowed. Transplanting tomatoes is necessary on clear sunny days. During the summer, you will need to carry out 3 dressings. For this purpose, mixtures are used based on:

  • potassium;

  • magnesium;

  • nitrogen;

  • phosphorus.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

Tomato Cascade is zoned for:

  • north of the European part of Russia;

  • Siberian, Ural and Far Eastern regions;

  • Moscow and the surrounding area;

  • center and south of the European part (including the North Caucasus, the Volga region and the Black Earth region).

Review overview

It is worth noting that the Cascade can grow, bloom and set relatively slowly. The fruits of this variety, albeit small, but the yield is pleasing. Gardeners do not notice any particular whimsical culture. It will ripen quite amicably, which allows you to harvest quickly.They also pay attention to the resistance of tomato to many pathologies.
