Tomato Abundant can potentially please farmers with a good harvest. But only those who carefully studied this culture, including the timing of its planting, are able to achieve success. It will also be necessary to understand its ability to tolerate the main infectious effects.
Breeding history
The variety was created in the Gavrish firm. The work on it was carried out by a group of breeders already known at that time (Gavrish, Amcheslavskaya, Volok, Morev). Breeding work was carried out in the early and first half of the 2000s. They were crowned with success (state recognition and approval for cultivation) in 2008.
Description of the variety
Tomato Abundant is one of the most popular hybrids. The determinant dynamics of development is typical for him. It is possible to grow such a culture both under the film and in the open air. The bushes grow up to a height of 0.8 m. Small foliage is distinguished by a dark green color.
The main qualities of the fruit
The youngest berries have a simple green color. When they are ripe, they will acquire a pleasant pink tint. Red color is not typical for adult berries. The mass of a single tomato ranges from 80 to 100 g. Other important properties of tomatoes:
flat circle shape;
poor rib development;
formation on simple inflorescences;
peduncles with characteristic articulation.
Taste characteristics
The bountiful tomato pulp does not reach any high density. The fruits can be eaten fresh. They are also suitable for canning as whole fruits. Unlike many other early varieties, this variety leaves a rather pleasant impression. It is characterized by sweetness and an attractive aroma.
Ripening and fruiting
Suppliers and sellers of the abundant tomato belong to the early group. Between the appearance of young garden shoots and the readiness of the crop for harvest, on average, it takes from 90 to 95 days. Sometimes, depending on the actual weather, this will happen a little faster or a little slower.
Yield
You can pick up to 11 kg of berries on 1 "square". It is worth emphasizing that the official description does not indicate whether this figure refers to open field or greenhouse cultivation. Therefore, it can be assumed that in an ordinary garden, the result may be worse even with careful observance of agricultural standards.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Under favorable conditions, the seeds are sown in containers at the beginning of April. If the area has a relatively harsh climate, it is more correct to wait until mid-April. The readiness for transplanting into the ground is achieved in mid or late May. If the seedlings develop slowly, you must wait until the end of May or even the beginning of June. The specific decision, however, must be made by the gardeners themselves.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The variety does not bring anything extraordinary in this regard. For him, a seating system of 400x500 mm is recommended. Attempts by summer residents to change this rule only lead to failure.
Growing and care
Only properly formed bushes of the Abundant can give a good result. Forming is allowed in both 2 and 3 stems. The solution is determined by practical experience. And also it is worth remembering that this plant must be firmly attached to the supports.
Nitrogen fertilizers should be applied in the spring in an extremely metered manner. Otherwise, the green mass can grow seriously. If the stepsons began to grow, they must be broken. This will redirect the power of the plant to the main target. Loosening plays a significant role; if it is carried out in a timely manner, the harmful crust is destroyed and gas exchange in the ground improves.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
As almost always happens, there are no specific pests for this particular variety. The tobacco mosaic virus is almost not terrible for such a plant. The ability to resist fusarium wilting is also claimed. But this does not negate the urgent need for protection from harmful factors.
