Most gardeners like to grow versatile types of tomatoes that can be eaten, canned and processed all summer long. Among the many types of attention, the hybrid Infinity variety, growing both in the greenhouse and in the garden, deserves attention.
Breeding history
The early Infinity variety is the result of the work of the famous Russian breeder A.A.Mashtakov, who, together with a group of colleagues, created a tomato that grows well in film greenhouses and open ground. The culture was gone more than 10 years ago. The early-ripening Infinity variety was entered in the State Register of the Russian Federation and approved for use in 2010. The plant is zoned in the following regions: North, Central, North Caucasian, TsChO, North-West.
Description of the variety
The Infinity nightshade culture is a tall, semi-determinate variety, stretching up to 170 cm. The bush is characterized by moderate foliage, medium branching, thick stem and powerful root system.
Inflorescences in a plant of a simple type. The first fruit cluster is formed over 6-7 leaves. Most often, up to 5-6 fruits are tied in each brush. On the recommendation of specialists, the bushes require the obligatory formation of 1-2 stems, regular pinching and garters to the supports.
The main qualities of the fruit
Tomatoes are large enough. On average, the weight of the fetus is 245 grams. Tomatoes are endowed with a flat-round shape with a weak surface ribbing. The color of the fruit is bright red when fully ripe and light green when unripe. The dense, glossy, but not tough peel protects the tomato from cracking, and also provides the fruit with transportability and long shelf life - tomatoes can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks without losing their taste.
Taste characteristics
Infinity tomatoes are renowned for their aroma and incredible taste. The flesh of the fruit is fleshy, very juicy, with few seeds. The taste contains a mixture of sweetness with a pleasant vegetable acidity, which is complemented by a pronounced spicy aroma. The variety is universal, therefore delicious when eaten fresh, canned and processed into sauces, juices, dressings.
Ripening and fruiting
Infiniti tomatoes are early varieties. From the emergence of seedlings to the first ripe tomatoes, 98 days pass. The active fruiting phase is somewhat prolonged, which allows you to enjoy fresh and aromatic tomatoes throughout July-August. The berries ripen together, which is important in the industrial cultivation of tomatoes.
Yield
The yield indicator of this type of nightshade is very high. Subject to the basic agrotechnical rules, it is possible to collect 17.3 kg per 1 m2 per season. Indicators may vary depending on the growing conditions of the culture. Up to 7-8 kg of tomatoes are harvested from one bush per season.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Sowing seeds for seedlings should be 60 days before planting in a greenhouse or garden. Seed material is preliminarily disinfected and sorted. After sowing, it is recommended to provide the seeds with a greenhouse effect, which will accelerate germination. Bushes should grow in a warm and well-lit room.
At the stage of the appearance of 2 true leaves, a dive is carried out (seating in separate pots). 2 weeks before planting in a greenhouse or open ground, the bushes should be hardened, which will improve the adaptation of the plant to new growing conditions.
Landing on a permanent seedling site is performed in April-May, when the air and ground are sufficiently warmed up.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The optimal planting density of the crop is 3 bushes per 1 m2. The recommended planting pattern is 50x70 cm.
Growing and care
Infiniti tomatoes need to be grown in loose, moist and fertilized soil. The site should be well lit by the sun and protected from strong drafts. Comprehensive care includes moderate watering, mulching the soil, forming, removing stepchildren and tying bushes, adding organic and mineral substances. And also protection from the invasion of pests.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
The plant has a high immunity to many diseases, so tomatoes are practically not susceptible to diseases and viruses during the period of ripening and fruiting. The culture is absolutely resistant to tobacco mosaic virus, apical rot and Alternaria.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
The variety has resistance to heat and prolonged drought, however, tomatoes do not tolerate frosts and sudden temperature changes.
Growing regions
Vegetable crops are massively grown in the southern, temperate and northern climatic zones of Russia.
Review overview
Infiniti tomatoes are prized by both summer residents and commercial farmers. This is due to the fact that the variety is not capricious in agricultural technology, gives stable yields, quickly adapts to growing conditions and easily tolerates transportation.
