Every year, new varieties of agricultural crops appear on the market. And 2021 was no exception to this rule. Most recently, the Herman tomato was presented for public use, which deserves the closest attention from gardeners.

Description of the variety

The plant has an official synonym - Hermann F1. It is a high quality indeterminate hybrid. The culture is recommended for growing both in open ground and in film greenhouses. Hermann's bushes grow up to 2-2.2 m. The amount of foliage is small, the leaves themselves are of medium length and are painted in a simple green color.

The main qualities of the fruit

An important characteristic of Hermann's crop is its high transportability. The share of commercial specimens, subject to basic agricultural technology standards, reaches 98%. Light green color is typical for unripe berries; there will be no spots on the stem and next to it. Ripe fruits will take on a raspberry color.

The average weight of a single tomato is 200 g. Its rounded shape is complemented by weakly pronounced ribs. From 6 to 8 berries develop on 1 brush. The first intermediate inflorescence will develop over 6-7 leaves. Then they will go strictly through 1-2 sheets.

Taste characteristics

The exact taste is not described in the sources. It is mentioned that most people like him very much. You can use the fruits both fresh and in salads.

Ripening and fruiting

Herman is an attractive early variety. When shoots are formed, you can wait for full-fledged fruits in an average of 93-95 days. Fruiting usually covers:

  • July;

  • August;

  • September.

Yield

The number of fruits will be quite high. Moreover, the variation in yield (all other things being equal) is small. It is stated that it ranges from 19.2 to 19.5 kg per 1 sq. m. Some sources report that it is potentially possible to achieve the collection of 23 kg of berries. Gardeners have yet to test in practice how accurate these promises are.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

You can sow seeds for seedlings even in January. Some gardeners prefer to wait until February or March. This choice is determined by the time at which it is preferable for them to transplant into the open ground.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

It is strongly recommended to stick to the order of 500x500 mm. There is simply no point in experimenting with a different arrangement.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

For obvious reasons, the exact information on the cultivation of this particular variety from gardeners has not yet been collected. But you can still be guided by the same principles that are used for the cultivation of other indeterminate tomatoes. The tendency to overgrowth makes it necessary to allocate more space for planting. Be sure to choose a site where the bushes will not interfere with other plants. Sowing seeds is also possible in ordinary seedling containers, but some people prefer small cassettes, which are more convenient.

Excessive thickening of the plantings must also be avoided. Because of it, indeterminate plants can get sick more often. The first feeding of seedlings is carried out 6-7 days after the pick. Instead of separate fertilizers for both seedlings and adult bushes, it is more correct to use mixed store formulations, completely ready for use. Neighborhood with potatoes is undesirable, in order to avoid mutual exchange of pests.

It is very useful to saturate each hole with natural fertilizers when planting. Watering is carried out only at the root, strictly warm water. To prevent soil moisture from changing abruptly and unpredictably, mulching is recommended. Top dressing is carried out at least 3 times during the growing season. In this case, they are necessarily guided by the state of the plants themselves.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Alternaria does not pose any serious danger to Herman. The tobacco mosaic virus also rarely infects this culture. But this advantage does not relieve gardeners of the responsibility to protect plantings. The main pests are the same as in other varieties. Measures to combat them are also similar.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

You can plant a tomato German even in the north of the European part of Russia, in Siberia and in the Far East. Therefore, the conditions are all the more accessible for him:

  • Volga region;

  • Central Black Earth Region;

  • the center of the European part of Russia;

  • The North Caucasus;

  • Ural;

  • Volgo-Vyatka region.
