Tomato Favorite 6 is a hybrid variety belonging to the first generation of Solanaceae. The hybridization of the variety was carried out by Russian practical breeders from the Ilyinichna Scientific Center. Thanks to the painstaking work of specialists, the variety acquired unique properties and was included in the State Register as a tomato capable of producing high yields in various climatic conditions. In the southern regions, the plant can be grown directly in open beds, but the difficult climatic conditions of the center and north require the use of greenhouse conditions and greenhouses.
Description of the variety
Hybrid tomato variety Favorite 6 belongs to indeterminate plants with a main central shoot. The main feature of the variety is a low percentage of lateral shoots formation, which significantly reduces the physical costs of bush formation. The disadvantages of tomato must include the need for the mandatory attachment of the stems to the central support.
The term for harvesting from sowing seeds to harvesting fruits ranges from 107 days to 119 days.
The green deciduous mass has a gray tint, the size of the corrugated sheet plate is medium. Inflorescences are compact with 3-4 fruits. Fruit laying begins after the appearance of 8 leaves in every third sinus. The number of seed chambers is more than 4 pcs.
The versatile purpose of the variety maximizes the scope of the tomato application, however, the thin leathery shell does not allow fresh tomatoes to be preserved and reduces the shelf life.
Due to its large fruit without flaws, the variety has commercial value, but the low level of transportability negatively affects the final expected profit.
Advantages:
large-fruited;
stable yield level;
immunity to the main types of diseases;
shade tolerance;
universal purpose;
high aesthetic performance;
rich taste.
Disadvantages:
short storage period;
low transportability;
the impossibility of preserving whole fruits;
the need for landslide fixation to the support.
The main qualities of the fruit
Tomato Favorite is able to form fruits weighing up to 150 grams, but the average weight of one fruit is 117-123 grams. Ripe tomatoes acquire a deep red hue. A distinctive feature is the presence of weakly expressed ribs and bulges on the surface of the fruit, which significantly increases the aesthetic characteristics of the variety.
Taste characteristics
Unlike many hybrids, Favorit tomato has rich tomato notes and juicy pulp, which allows it to be successfully used for making sauces and tomato juice, and even gourmets will like the raspberry flavor and a small amount of seeds.
Ripening and fruiting
Tomato variety Favorite is a mid-season hybrid. Gardeners can get their first harvest in late July - early August.
Yield
Due to its unique agronomic characteristics, this variety of nightshades has a high percentage of yield. One plant is capable of forming up to 8 kg of fruits.Up to 19 kg of tomatoes can be harvested from a 1 m2 plot.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
The basic agricultural techniques of this variety have common principles with other varieties of nightshade. Planting seed material for seedlings is carried out in mid-March. The seed must be planted in a nutrient substrate to a depth of no more than 10 mm. It is possible to increase the germination percentage by creating a greenhouse effect.
Mid-May is the optimal time for planting dived seedlings under a film, and already at the beginning of June in open ground. The best place to grow tomatoes is a small hill on the south side of the garden area. Soil is a light mixture of clay and sand. The acid balance level is moderate.
The place of planting seedlings in the ground must necessarily change annually.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
The optimal planting density is 3-4 plants per 1m2. When planting seedlings, it is necessary to observe a distance between rows of 60 cm and between bushes 50 cm.
Growing and care
The complex of measures for the care of plants consists of classic actions that will not cause difficulties even for novice gardeners. Watering, loosening, fertilizing, removing weeds and treating pests - a list of measures to obtain a stable harvest.
To increase the overall yield of the variety, agricultural breeders recommend removing the lower leafy plates to the level of the first ovaries.
Experts do not recommend growing nightshades after crops such as eggplant, peppers and potatoes.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
The first generation hybrid has a high level of resistance to various types of diseases. Tomato is immune to tobacco mosaic virus, fusarium, cladosporium even in darkened conditions and changeable climatic conditions.
