Tomato lovers living in middle and northern latitudes, due to climatic conditions, have special requirements for one or another variety of these berries. Basically, this is a quick ripening of fruits, high yields and adaptability to various weather conditions. Tomatoes of the Wild Rose variety, in addition to the above qualities, also have an unusually sweet taste. In addition, they are suitable for growing both in the greenhouse and in the open field. Today, the Wild Rose is one of the most popular tomato varieties suitable for cultivation in temperate and cold climates.

Breeding history

This variety was bred by a team of Moscow breeders of OOO Agrofirma Aelita, which included L. I. Guseva, M. D. Nikulaesh, V. G. Kachainik and E. I. Sadykina. For 2 years, the plant underwent a number of checks, as a result of which the Wild Rose tomato variety was officially added to the State Register in 1999.

Description of the variety

The wild rose has a number of advantages:

  • early maturity;
  • high productivity;
  • the possibility of using seeds from a ripe fruit for planting in the next season;
  • good immunity;
  • resistance to various weather conditions;
  • the possibility of growing both in a covered unheated greenhouse and in the open field.

The disadvantages of the variety are:

  • limited use in cooking;
  • the need for a bush garter, its formation and pinching;
  • unmarketable type of ripe fruits (difference in size);
  • difficulties with long distance transportation.

Wild rose is an indeterminate variety. The bush is tall, it can grow up to 150-200 cm. The foliage is abundant, the leaves are large, ordinary, petiolate, slightly corrugated, of emerald color. The inflorescence is simple. The first brushes are laid over the 9th sheet, the next - after 1-2 sheets. Each inflorescence contains about 3-4 ovaries. The stalk is articulated, the place of attachment to the tomato is not wide.

The main qualities of the fruit

The fruits of this variety have a rounded, slightly ribbed shape, the surface is smooth and elastic. The unripe fruit is green with a dark spot near the stalk, while the ripe fruit is pink or crimson. Ripe berry is large, its mass ranges from 300 to 350 g. Sometimes fruits are of greater weight (on the lower brushes).

There are more than 5 seed nests inside the berries. 3-4 fruits can ripen on one hand. The pulp is not watery, fleshy, sugar on the break, without voids, the skin is tender and thin. The fruit is high in sugar: 100 g of pulp can contain up to 3.7% sugars.

Taste characteristics

The taste of tomatoes is sweet, there is a slight sourness. They are recommended for use in salads, as well as for making juices and sauces.

Ripening and fruiting

This is an early variety - the ripening period ranges from 105 to 115 days. Harvested from late July to late August.

Yield

The yield index of the Wild Rose is high: up to 6 kg / m 2. The volume of the crop depends on weather conditions, the regularity of watering and the availability of fertilizers.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

It is recommended to sow seeds for seedlings on March 10–20, and to plant them in the ground - on May 10–20. For open ground, more mature seedlings should be used, as they are resistant to possible repeated frost.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Before sowing, the seeds must be treated with potassium permanganate and rinsed in warm water. Then they are sown in small pits and sprinkled with peat on top. The container with seedlings should be covered with foil and placed in a warm place.

After about 2 months, when 2 true leaves appear, the seedlings are transplanted into a foil indoor greenhouse or into open ground. The soil should be light and fertile - sod or garden soil, mixed with humus with the addition of ash or special fertilizer, is perfect. Plants are planted at a distance of 60 cm from each other and processed by "Epin".

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

To get an early harvest, the bushes should be formed into 1 stem, removing all stepchildren on it. If the plant is planted in warm areas without precipitation, then it can be formed into 2 stems. In this case, the stepson, which has grown in the bosom above the first fruit cluster, does not need to be removed.

A feature of this variety is its unlimited growth of shoots. Therefore, the gardener decides for himself how high to grow the bush. In any case, this variety needs to be tied to vertical supports and trellises.

Watering the bushes should be carried out 1-2 times every 7 days with warm water, depending on the weather, if growing in the open field, or on the condition of the soil in the case of growing in a covered greenhouse. To increase the percentage of yield, plants can be fertilized with various dressings, for example, the drug "Gumat-super". The first feeding should be carried out no earlier than 1 week after transplanting into the ground. Subsequent fertilization of the soil should be carried out at regular intervals 1 time in 10 days. It is also necessary to weed the weeds and treat the bushes with copper-containing preparations.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The Wild Rose variety is not afraid of the tobacco mosaic virus and various fungal infections, however, in order to prevent the plants, they should be regularly examined and fertilized with special means. In addition, it is recommended to change the topsoil in the greenhouse every year.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

The plant is not afraid of high temperatures, it is resistant to an excess of sulfate, chloride, sodium carbonate and other salts in the soil, to high soil moisture, but it is susceptible to sudden cold snaps and prolonged precipitation.

Growing regions

According to the Register, the Wild Rose tomato variety is suitable for cultivation in the North, Middle Volga, North-West, Nizhnevolzhsky, Central, Volgo-Vyatka, North Caucasian, Ural, West Siberian, East Siberian and Far Eastern regions, as well as in the Central Black Earth area.

Review overview

A lot of gardeners are happy that they have chosen Wild Rose tomatoes. Buyers note its early ripening period, the sweetness and meatiness of ripe fruits, as well as their large weight: for some vegetable growers, it reached 0.5 kg, and sometimes 1 kg. The best harvest in terms of quantity and quality of berries was obtained from bushes that grew in open ground. Also, many vegetable growers point to the preservation of all the qualities of this variety in seeds that they collected from overripe tomatoes. Thus, each season they saved on the purchase of new seeds.
