Tomato Ladies' man conquered summer residents with its unusual shape, excellent taste and easy adaptation to various climatic conditions. Good transport resistance makes it suitable for commercial cultivation. Ripe fruits can be preserved whole, processed or used fresh.
Breeding history
The variety passed state tests in 2008. The specialists of Agrofirma Aelita LLC worked on its selection and managed to achieve impressive results.
Description of the variety
The ladies' man belongs to the standard tomato varieties, has strong and sturdy stems. Forms tall bushes with main shoots up to 160-180 cm. The deciduous cover is not too abundant, dark green, slightly corrugated. Inflorescences racemose, on each of them up to 8 ovaries are formed.
The main qualities of the fruit
The fruits are pepper-shaped, almost regular cylindrical in shape, but with a characteristic "spout" in the lower part, medium or large in size, with an average weight of 45-60 g. An unripe tomato has a dark green skin, a ripe tomato has a red, smooth skin. The fruit produces few seeds among the dense pulp. After removal, the fruits can be stored for up to 4 weeks without losing their presentation.
Taste characteristics
Tomatoes of this variety have a sweet, rich taste. Ripe fruits are great for making salads and snacks, they are not watery, strong and dense.
Ripening and fruiting
The variety belongs to the mid-season, ripens in 110-115 days. Harvesting dates vary from July to September.
Yield
The ladies' man is capable of producing up to 10 kg of fruit per sq. m. This indicator allows us to attribute it to the fruitful varieties of tomato.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
Sowing seed can be started in the first 2 weeks of March, from the 1st to the 15th. Planting seedlings in the ground is carried out from May 15 to June 5, upon reaching an age of 50-60 days.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
Sowing of seeds is carried out without a clear scheme, with preliminary soaking in a manganese solution. Growing before picking is carried out under a film, in moist soil. After the appearance of 2 leaves, the plants are placed in separate containers. When planting in a permanent place in a greenhouse or open ground, it is necessary to maintain a distance between rows and individual bushes of 60 × 50 cm.
Growing and care
Tomato Ladies' Man is well adapted for growing in open ground and in film greenhouses. He is not afraid of cold weather, tolerates precipitation. When growing, the variety needs a full range of agrotechnical measures. The tomato forms 2-3 stems, but the lateral shoots must be pinned. A garter is also required, since the growth of the crop does not stop throughout the growing season.
This variety does not tolerate thickening of plantings, strong and sudden temperature changes. It is recommended to shade the bushes, to prevent the soil from drying out. Cultivation is carried out on slightly acidic, disinfected and well-fertilized soils. In the greenhouse, plants may need additional lighting. In the open field during frost periods, tomato bushes should be placed under a film.
It is possible to form plants of the Damsky Splendor variety in 1 stem, but this will affect the yield. Grasshopping is carried out throughout the growth period, the lower leaves are removed. The garter to the support is carried out 21 days after transplanting tomatoes into a greenhouse or into open ground.
Fertilization is an important component that affects yield. The Damsky Splendid variety requires both organic nutrition and minerals. Their introduction is alternated at intervals of 14 days. Diluted poultry droppings, peat, or humus are the best choices for organic feed. It is not recommended to fertilize the beds with manure.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
The variety has good immunity against various typical tomato diseases. It is resistant to fruit cracking, verticillosis, TMV, fusarium wilt. With a sufficient number of preventive measures, pests are rarely affected by pests. And also it is worth periodically sprinkling the bushes with copper sulfate, "Fitosporin", pour wood ash into the soil.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
The lady's man tomato is considered resistant to various weather changes. But he is still contraindicated in prolonged contact with low atmospheric temperatures. In conditions of high humidity, with abundant precipitation, attention should be paid to enhanced disease prevention. The fruit setting is not affected by unfavorable weather conditions.
Growing regions
The variety is successfully grown in most regions of Russia. It can be planted in the Far East and Siberia, in the Middle and Lower Volga regions, in the Urals and the North Caucasus. Tomato feels good in the Central Black Earth regions, as well as in the climate of the Moscow region and in the north-western regions.
Review overview
The owners of summer cottages, who have already tested this variety of tomatoes, consider it a worthy choice for greenhouse cultivation, although many have a positive experience of planting plants in open ground. It is noted that the size and shape of the fruits correspond to those stated, and there are no problems with obtaining seedlings from seeds - the germination rate is close to 100%. Especially often praised is the taste of tomatoes of this variety, sweet and very pleasant. The dense pulp and skin do not give excess water during processing and freezing, the vegetable keeps its original shape.
Some summer residents point out that the Damsky splendid variety still does not feel well enough without a film cover, especially in cold and rainy periods. The yield is deteriorating; it is necessary to bring the tomatoes to maturity after they have been removed. Otherwise, there are no complaints, but experienced gardeners are advised to immediately make a high greenhouse, since the shoots are actively growing.
