In the routine of everyday work, not every gardener has time for full daily care of the crop. Tomato Summer resident is suitable for such people. It is unpretentious and has a stable yield.

Breeding history

The originator of the variety was the seed company "Poisk", with the support of the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Growing and Breeders Gorshkova N. S., Tarasenkov I. I., Bekova R. Kh. Registration in the State Register dates back to 1999. The culture was created for open ground.

The recommended growing area is the North Caucasus region. But many summer residents have heard about the new variety, and over time it has taken root in many areas. To date, the summer resident tomato is grown throughout Russia.

Description of the variety

Tomato Summer resident belongs to determinant crops with low vigor. The height of the stem reaches 40-55 cm. Further, its growth stops. The crown of the bush is semi-spreading, branching is present.

The stem is powerful, thick and sturdy. This is due to the fact that the variety was created directly for cultivation in the open field and is able to adapt to any weather conditions. And also the bushes have a well-developed root system.

Leaves are medium, narrow, oblong. Their color is deep green, with a matte sheen. The plate has a characteristic median section and veins. There are large jagged edges along the edges. There is no roughness on the leaves.

Inflorescences are formed in internodes. They are racemose in type. The buds are medium in size, pale yellow in shade. There are 10 ovaries per inflorescence.

Summer residents recommend leaving 2-4 branches on the bush. On one branch from 4 to 6 fruits are formed.

The advantages include:

  • ripening terms;

  • bushes care;

  • versatility of fruits;

  • transportability;

  • shelf life;

  • unpretentiousness in the soil;

  • the ability to grow indoors or outdoors without losing yield.

Of the minuses, it can be noted:

  • susceptibility to certain fungal diseases;

  • due to the severity of the fruit, it is necessary to tie up the bushes.

Currently, there are other varieties of tomatoes with a similar name on the market:

  • Ural summer resident;

  • Summer resident of the Kuban;

  • Summer resident F1.

Apart from the name, these cultures are completely different. They differ in characteristics and have different manufacturers.

The main qualities of the fruit

Fruits are spherical in shape, there are also flat-round ones. The weight of one tomato is 55-93 g. With proper care and constant feeding, the weight of the fruit can increase.

The fruit holds well on the stalk.

The rind is medium, does not crack. The cover is smooth, without ribbing, glossy. The color of tomatoes is red or purple-red.

The pulp is firm, juicy, not watery. The number of chambers is from 4 to 6, small seeds are formed in them.

The fruits are eaten fresh for salads. The variety is well suited for canning and drying.

Taste characteristics

Tomato Summer resident has a pleasant aftertaste with a slight sourness, which is typical for all tomatoes.

Ripening and fruiting

The Dachnik variety belongs to early maturing crops. Ripening lasts 95-105 days. Although the fruits form quickly, fruiting itself is stretched out over time, and the harvest takes place in small batches from July 15 to August 20.In the southern regions, harvesting can begin in early July, and in the Ural latitudes - only in August.

Yield

With irregular plant care, the yield is 4 kg per bush. Since the variety has good indicators of transportability, it is grown on an industrial scale, and the average yield is 251-347 c / ha.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

For the southern regions, premature germination of seedlings is not necessary. The seeds can be planted immediately in open ground after preparing the soil. After 3-3.5 months, the first crop can be harvested.

But for regions with colder climates, this option of sowing seeds will not be effective, they simply will not sprout.

Seedling boxes are prepared for sowing. At this time, the seeds are soaked in melt water, and then soaked with a cotton swab with a solution of potassium permanganate.

The wells in the box should be made 2 cm deep. After sowing the seeds, the soil is moistened, covered with foil and transferred to the windowsill. The seeds will sprout within 5-7 days. After that, the film can be removed.

It is necessary to water the seedlings with a spray bottle. Fertilizers are applied in liquid form. Seedlings dive only after the bush has formed 2 strong leaves.

The average room temperature should be +22 degrees.

In early May, the seedlings are taken outside for acclimatization. It is necessary to plant in the ground between 15-20 May or 50 days after the seedlings hatch. If you plant more mature seedlings, then it will not be able to take root in a new place or it will be sick for a long time. Eventually flowering and fruiting will be shifted to a later date.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The selected area should be dug up, while applying fertilizers. Then the soil is poured abundantly with water and left overnight. During this time, all excess moisture will be absorbed.

Further, pits are formed with a depth of no more than 15 cm. At the bottom of the hole, ammonium nitrate can be poured to stimulate growth.

After planting seedlings, each bush is spilled with water. The next watering is done after 1 week.

The distance between the bushes should be 70x60 cm. Gardeners recommend not planting more than 6 bushes per 1 m2. Although the seedlings are compact, their large accumulation can create shade, and some fruits will not have enough sunlight.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Although the tomato Summer resident is unpretentious in care, it is still necessary to observe some agrotechnical points to increase yields.

  • The variety differs in that it does not need to be pinned. But at the same time, it is worth removing the lower leaves for uniform air circulation.

  • Tie pegs must be prepared. Their height should be from 0.6 m.

  • Watering is carried out according to the schedule in the evening. The water should be settled and warm. Watered strictly to the very root.

  • Top dressing is applied after watering to wet soil, then the root system will not get burned. Fertilizers should contain nitrogen-containing elements, as well as potassium and fluorine.

  • Loosening and weeding play an important role.Timely cleaning of weeds will help the bushes develop correctly, taking in all the beneficial elements. If there is no possibility of frequent weeding, then you can mulch the soil with sawdust or hay.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Tomato Summer resident is susceptible to fungal disease - late blight. The disease develops rapidly in humid environments and at low temperatures.

It is best to spray the bushes with fungicides before the ovaries form. This will help to avoid the appearance of fungal diseases.

The cultivar is also susceptible to whitefly. The fight against such a pest is very long. It is necessary to choose the right chemicals so that they do not affect the fruit. From folk remedies, an infusion of tobacco, yarrow or garlic is most often used.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
