The name of the cherry strawberry tomato speaks for itself. Sweet, small, red cherry tomatoes are shaped like strawberries. Both children and adults are happy to eat them fresh. The variety is unpretentious when grown, resistant to tomato diseases.
Breeding history
The tomato was bred by Russian breeders Lukyanenko A. N., Dubinin S. V., Dubinina I. N. In 2015 Agrofirma SEDEK LLC received a permit for a hybrid, she also owns the copyright. Recommended for growing in greenhouses and outdoors.
Description of the variety
Cherry variety, strawberry determinant, early, easy to care for, with a powerful root system. It is grown both in a closed area, in greenhouses, and in garden conditions. On balconies, window sills, you can also get a good harvest.
An adult tomato bush is medium-sized, up to 120-140 cm high, with medium light green leaves and intermediate inflorescences. During the period of amicable ripening, the fruit resembles an ornamental bush. Small, tasty cherries ripen up to 25-30 pieces in a brush.
The main qualities of the fruit
The average weight of a ripe tomato is 20-30 grams. Red, slightly ribbed, rounded cherries reach 3 centimeters in diameter. They are suitable for canning whole, as they have an average pulp density. They are not stored for long. Two-chamber tomatoes are juicy, contain 6-7% dry matter. Can be originally preserved in a jar with a whole bunch. The smooth skin is dense, very rarely the tomato cracks, has a low degree of transportability.
Taste characteristics
Cherry strawberry salad dessert tomatoes are universal in use. Very sweet in taste, aromatic, almost no acid is felt in them. Juicy pulp, beautiful rich red color is well and profitably used in cooking, both in preparations and in salads. Due to the large amount of dry matter, they are rarely processed for juice or sauce. Cherries are not stored for long, but their excellent taste exceeds any drawback.
Ripening and fruiting
The hybrid is grown more in the greenhouse, outdoors in warmer, southern regions. Proper care, adherence to systemic watering, and the formation of a bush give their results. The first crop of tomatoes is harvested 90 days after planting in the ground.
Yield
Strawberry cherry tomato for small tomatoes - high-yielding. With measured maturation, 4.4 kg are collected from a square meter.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
The hybrid is grown in seedlings. Its seeds are sown in the ground until March 15. After 60 days, young tomato plants are planted in a permanent place. For greenhouse cultivation, sowing for seedlings begins 2 weeks earlier, as well as planting them in the soil. For open ground, you need to focus on the weather conditions in the region.
The determinant tomato is distinguished by an average bush height, a powerful root system.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
Tomato seedlings are planted in a 40 x 50 cm pattern. This distance between the bushes will provide lighting and the required fertilizer rate. The suitable air and soil temperature for the development of seedlings should be at least + 17 ° C.
Growing and care
Cherry variety, strawberry hybrid, needs pinching, garter, decoration. The bush is formed from 1 or 2 stems both in greenhouses and outdoors.
Water the tomato preferably with warm water heated in the sun, moderate drip irrigation is possible.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Since the variety is hybrid, it is immune to fusarium wilt and other tomato diseases (breeding is working on this).
To combat harmful, annoying insects, the Colorado potato beetle, the bushes are treated with appropriate means.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
The cherry variety is thermophilic strawberry. There will be more tomatoes in warm summer, in sunny places in the garden or vegetable garden.
Growing regions
The hybrid has proven itself well throughout Russia: from the Central to the Far Eastern region.
