An unusual tomato hybrid of Dutch selection - Black bunch, perfectly adapted to Russian growing conditions. It is successfully planted both in greenhouses and in the open field, ripe fruits look very impressive, well suited for making pizza, whole-fruit canning.
Description of the variety
Indeterminate hybrid, universal purpose. The tall stem grows up to 150 cm in open field. The leafiness is moderate, without thickening, the size of the plates is above average, the shape is somewhat coarse, without intensive dissection. Parts of the plant are painted blue-green, darker than ordinary tomatoes. Fruit clusters of 10-14 tomatoes in each are formed on the bush.
The main qualities of the fruit
The Black Bunch tomatoes have cocktail sizes, the black skin is glossy, with noticeable overflows, dense. The average weight of the fruit reaches 45 g. The shape is slightly ribbed, round, regular.
Taste characteristics
The fruits are sweet and sour, with an unusual plum aftertaste.
Ripening and fruiting
Early hybrid, harvesting is carried out in July-August. The average ripening period is 95-100 days.
Yield
The tomato is a high-yielding one. Fees reach 6-6.5 kg / sq. m.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
The cultivation of the Black bunch hybrid is carried out mainly by seedlings. You can sow seeds in a container already in March, in 2-3 decades. A ready-made soil mixture for tomatoes or a self-formed substrate based on turf, peat and sand is placed in the container. It is not required to deeply deepen the seeds, 20 mm is enough. The optimum temperature for germination is from +25 degrees.
Grown bushes with 1 flower brush are transferred to the ground at the age of 55-60 days, approximately at the end of May. It is recommended to pre-harden, providing the plants with the necessary soft adaptation to changes in temperature conditions.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
Planting is recommended with a distance between plants of 40 × 70 cm. The holes are made up to 150 mm deep, after saturating the soil with compost, ash, and mineral fertilizers.
Growing and caring
After transferring to the ground or greenhouse, the bushes are formed into 2 stems, evenly distributing the load. The stepson for the second trunk is taken under the lower flower brush. All other side shoots break off, yellowed lower leaves in the tops are also removed. For successful cultivation, tomato bushes should be provided with a full range of necessary agrotechnical measures. The ground at the base is loosened and weeded weekly, watering is done only with warm water.
Feeding with organic substances begins 2 weeks after planting, alternating with mineral supplements. Hybrid Black bunch responds well to leaf watering with nutrient solutions in cloudy weather. The garter of the bush is mandatory, it is performed immediately after planting, at the fruiting stage, props are additionally used.
The maturity of black tomatoes in this hybrid can be determined by the formation of orange specks in the area of the stalk. Plants are watered 2-3 times a week, in the root zone in greenhouses. In the open field, its frequency is regulated individually. At the stage when the fruits reach full ripeness, watering is stopped to avoid excessive wateriness of the tomatoes.
The hybrid responds well to feeding with herbal infusions at the stage of growing green mass. After setting the fruits, potash fertilizers begin to be applied, you can even do with the usual infusion of ash. Bread mash solutions are also popular among natural dressings.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
The tomato has a complex immunity to most common diseases. The only thing worth considering is the recommendations for treatment against late blight. Usually it is carried out twice, with greenhouse cultivation, at the end of July-August.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
Tomato Black bunch is hardy to unfavorable growing conditions. It only does not tolerate drought - it is important to monitor the condition of the soil, to moisten it as it dries.
Growing regions
Tomatoes are zoned for most regions of Russia. The hybrid is planted in greenhouses only in Siberia, in the Urals, where otherwise it simply does not have time to ripen. In other regions, the fruits have time to ripen in the open air.
Review overview
Tomato Black bunch causes conflicting feelings among summer residents. Among the positive reviews, there are references to the excellent germination of seeds of this hybrid, its resistance to diseases, and a rapid set of growth. Among other advantages, gardeners especially highlight the unpretentiousness of an exotic tomato for Russia. It grows successfully in open ground even without additional fertilizing, especially if the land is fertile enough.
It is noted that the seedlings, despite the fact that the hybrid itself is tall, turns out to be quite strong. Some summer residents grow it even without forming, since the bush is quite compact. It is mentioned that at the stage of fruit ripening, it may be difficult to determine the stage of ripeness.
Not all summer residents liked the taste with hints of plum - with a lack of sun, it becomes tart, astringent. Affects the number of warm days in the summer and the ripening of fruits. In a cold summer, it is better to remove them brown, allowing them to gain color already at home. With greenhouse cultivation in conditions of a lack of sun, another drawback is manifested - a weak coloration of the skin, but in the open ground, amateur vegetable growers successfully get ripe blue-black fruits.
