Vegetable growers who have grown many classic varieties of tomatoes sooner or later choose a variety that goes beyond the classics. For example, the Black Goddess is a completely unusual variety, characterized by dark fruits. Brought out such beauty V.I.Blokin-Mechtalin in 2019.

Description of the variety

The plant is not limited in growth, its minimum height is 2 meters. Medium length green foliage grows without excessive density. The black goddess forms simple ovaries. The initial inflorescence appears above the 7th leaf. All subsequent ovaries develop every 3 plates.

The main qualities of the fruit

The coloring of the fruits of the Black Goddess occurs gradually and starts from the stalk. Green berries transform into violet-red and acquire a mass of 150-180 grams. Rounded berries are uneven, but the ribs are rather weak. Due to its beautiful colors, the Black Goddess is often used to decorate dishes. But the excellent taste allows you to use the berries for preservation and for winter salads. Tomatoes keep their freshness for a long time in cool rooms. Plus, if properly stacked, they'll survive transportation. The skin does not crack during storage and on the road.

Taste characteristics

In addition to the beautiful skin color, the Black Goddess also has an attractive pulp color. It can be rich cherry or cherry with light pink tints. The content of the berry is distinguished by its sugar content, pronounced sweet taste. The finish is subtle, fruity. It is worth noting that the sourness of this variety appears only when grown in partial shade.

Ripening and fruiting

The Black Goddess variety is ready for harvest in 105-115 days. Such indicators are typical for early subspecies, although in some sources the variety is positioned as mid-season. Fruits reach ripeness in July, and they can be harvested until August.

Yield

The Black Goddess allows you to get 4.2 kg from one square meter of the beds. But when landing in sunny places and observing the correct humidity / temperature parameters, the indicators can be significantly increased.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Before determining the seed in the ground, it is necessary to decide where the bushes will be grown in the future. If in a greenhouse, sowing is carried out in the first half of March, and if in open ground, then the procedure is postponed to the end of the same month. In any case, it will take about 65 days to grow the sprouts.

Even before planting, the grain should be processed, and Fitosporin is best suited for this. Soaking seeds in growth stimulants will not be superfluous. The prepared seeds are to be sown in a nutritious moistened soil, and immediately after planting, the boxes are pulled from above with a film. In a warm place, the seedlings germinate quickly, so after 7 days it will be possible to get rid of the film.

After transferring the seedlings to a sunny place, she needs to be provided with good care. Spraying with warm water is carried out twice a week; drying of the soil should not be allowed. Seating in separate glasses is carried out after the second sheet unfolds. After 14 days, mineral dressings are given. Watering is not carried out three days prior to transshipment into the main soil.

Finished seedlings must have at least 5 true leaves and at least one flower cluster. In early May, seedlings are placed in greenhouses, in June - in the open field.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Best of all, the seedlings of the Black Goddess will grow where rye, green peas, cabbage, corn, and beans have recently been cultivated. But after any nightshade, it is impossible to plant tomatoes, since all the substances useful for them from the soil have already been pulled out by their predecessors.

Planting holes for the variety are located at a distance of half a meter from each other. The pits are filled with loose earth fertilized with organic fertilizers, potassium and phosphorus, and ash. If the seedlings are strongly elongated by the time of planting, then it can be buried. The substrate poured around the seedling is well compacted and watered.

Most often, the Black Goddess is planted in rows or staggered. In any case, it is worth leaving 0.7 meters between the rows. It is not recommended to place more than three bushes per square meter. The extreme option is 4, but the yield will be slightly less.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

For watering the Black Goddess, an exceptionally warm liquid is used. The frequency of irrigation is 2 times a week, while young shoots will require one liter of water, and adults - twice as much. A crust on the ground is unacceptable, so the soil is often loosened. The bushes are also highly recommended to mulch.

In one season, the Black Goddess will need 3 feeding. It is best to use mullein. The fertilizer will be the same for all three feedings: 5 liters of liquid, half a liter of mullein infusion and a tablespoon of superphosphate. The first time tomatoes are fed 2 weeks after planting. The next dressing is given at the moment when an ovary begins to form on the second flower cluster. The last time to fertilize the variety is during fruiting.

It is worth noting that tall bushes are quite fragile. Therefore, they can easily break off. To avoid plant loss, the bushes must be tied up. The trellis for the garter are pulled in advance, and if it is decided to use stakes, then they should be driven into the ground right when planting.

Tomatoes grown in greenhouses are usually cultivated in one trunk. So the plants are better ventilated and illuminated, the leaves do not adhere to each other. In open ground, you can get an excellent harvest by keeping bushes in two stems. Whichever method is chosen, pinching is carried out without fail. The bushes need to be painted in the early morning, then the sun will heal the wounds during the day. You cannot completely rip out the stepson, otherwise the next one will appear too quickly.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Review overview

There are different responses about the Black Goddess tomatoes. The majority still liked the variety. Excellent taste, beautiful unusual color, good keeping quality were noted. Gardeners who grew bushes did not have problems with fungal ailments, but late blight occurred in a number of cases.

The disadvantage of the variety is called not too high yield. For many, the fruits turned out to be small, did not reach the declared characteristics. Through trial and error, gardeners managed to understand that the fruits are very shallow in the cool summer. This is a feature of this variety.
