Many gardeners love varieties of tomatoes with pink fruits. It is to such varieties that the appetizing tomato belongs. Its name fully justifies itself. Attractive large fruits look very appetizing, and you want to taste them.
Breeding history
The variety was bred not so long ago by Novosibirsk breeders Dederko V.N. and Postnikova O.V. It is not known which varieties were taken as parents. But it is clear that Appetizing took only the best qualities from his predecessors. The culture was bred in the early 2000s, and was approved for use in 2007.
Description of the variety
It is a determinant mid-season variety, which is distinguished by its large-fruited and high yield. They took him out for growing in greenhouses and in the open field. During the growing season, a low-growing bush with medium branching grows up to 80-90 cm. Medium-sized dark green leaves have a slight pubescence on the outer and inner sides. The bushes have a simple inflorescence and stem with an articulation. Strong stems are densely covered with green mass. The fruits are used both fresh and canned.
The main qualities of the fruit
Flat-round fruits have a slight ribbing. Tomatoes are large, their weight reaches 154 grams, in some cases, with good agricultural technology, larger specimens are found.
The unripe fruit is green, the ripe tomato is pink.
Sugar, juicy pulp of medium density is protected by a thin, coarse skin.
Taste characteristics
The fruits are very tasty, they are sweetish, without the presence of sourness. Inside the tomato, 5 to 7 seed chambers are formed. Taste qualities are assessed by breeders and gardeners at 4.7 points out of 5.
Ripening and fruiting
The variety, mid-season in terms of ripening time, gives the first harvest in July, 3-3.5 months after sowing the seeds. Fruiting lasts until early autumn.
Yield
The culture is quite fruitful, from 1 m2 of planted bushes you can collect up to 7.6 kg of tasty, juicy fruits. With good agrotechnical care, the same number of tomatoes can be produced by one bush.
The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground
The appetizing tomatoes are grown mainly by the seedling method. Seeds are sown in the ground about 60-65 days before the intended planting in open ground or in a greenhouse, the best time for this is the end of March. Growth stimulants will have a good effect on future seedlings. At the stage of growing two true leaves, it is necessary to dive the seedlings. In places where seedlings grow, it is recommended to use special lamps to extend daylight hours. Before planting, the seedlings must be hardened, otherwise they may die from temperature shock. The most suitable time for planting seedlings in the ground is late May, early June. By this time, the temperature regime is restored, and the earth is already well warmed up.
Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.
Landing scheme
When planting a culture in open ground, it is necessary to adhere to the scheme - 3-4 plant bushes are planted per 1 m2.
Growing and caring
Subject to the rules of agricultural technology, growing and caring for tomatoes of this variety is not difficult.
Before sowing the seeds, they need to be put in a solution of potassium permanganate for 25-30 minutes, then rinsed under running water. This will rid the seeds of fungal diseases.
After planting seedlings in the ground, the bushes need to be tied to a trellis or a peg. On the stem, pinching is carried out to the first flower inflorescence. In order for the bushes to be neat, they must be formed, for this you need to break off unnecessary shoots.
During the growing season of tomatoes, the soil must be fertilized with mineral or organic fertilizers according to a certain scheme.
The first feeding is carried out during the intensive growth of the bush. To do this, you can use potassium nitrate or monoammonium phosphate. For one hundred square meters, 2 kg of substance are consumed.
The second feeding is necessary during the flowering of tomatoes. Fertilize with the same substances and in the same ratio.
The third feeding takes place during the formation of the fruit. During this period, nitrogen sulfate is used - 7 kg of substance is taken per one hundred square meters.
Particular attention should be paid to watering. Too much moisture can negatively affect the quality of the fruit, it can crack and rot. Therefore, the bushes are watered 2-3 times a week, the next day after watering, the soil is loosened and mulched so that the moisture remains longer.
A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.
It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.
Disease and pest resistance
Variety Appetizing can be damaged by ticks, aphids and scoops. To prevent this, you need to spray the bushes with pesticides. Very often, you can see the Colorado potato beetle on tomatoes. In order to rid the plant of this insect, use "Bitoxibacillin".Preventive treatment must be carried out three times, in which case all the larvae will die.
The variety has an average resistance to diseases. To avoid the disease of an adult plant, it is necessary to process the seeds when planting. For this, the seeds are kept in succinic acid, in the "Alirin" suspension.
Resistant to adverse weather conditions
Before the seedlings are planted in open ground, they must be hardened. Such seedlings will be unpretentious to weather conditions during the further growing season.
Growing regions
The tomato variety Appetizing is currently grown almost everywhere. More favorable regions for growing: Middle Volga, North, North-West, Central, Volgo-Vyatka, TsChO, Nizhnevolzhsky, Ural, West Siberian, East Siberian, Far East, North Caucasian.
