The Amana Orange variety is considered an expressive decoration of any vegetable garden due to its bright color and large size of the fruit. It was brought out by specialists from the United States in 1984. This fruit crop attracted the attention of Russian summer residents for its high taste and colorful colors. The originator in our country was the entrepreneur Blokin-Mechtalin V.I., with his assistance the variety was entered into the State Register in 2019.

Description of the variety

Tall bushes reach a height of 1.5 to 2 meters. The growth type of tomato is indeterminate. The green mass consists of green leaves of medium length, covered with fine villi. Ripe vegetables are most often eaten in their natural form. The inflorescence is simple. The first inflorescence is formed over 9 leaves, the rest alternate every 3 leaves.

The main qualities of the fruit

Like other varieties, unripe tomatoes remain green. The peduncle has no green spot. As they mature, they acquire a bright yellow, orange color. The rich color gives the crop a high marketability. Weight ranges from 400 to 600 grams. The sizes are large, subject to all the rules of agricultural technology. The shape is rounded and slightly flattened, with a large number of pronounced ribs. The pulp is moderately dense, juicy and fleshy. Its color is the same as that of the skin.

Aman Orange tomatoes are thin-crusty, the surface is glossy and smooth. Inside there are a large number of seed chambers, but with little seed content.

Taste characteristics

This vegetable crop is considered a salad. Due to their high gastronomic qualities, tomatoes are often eaten without processing, enjoying a delicate texture, pleasant aroma and sweet harmonious taste. Many people point to the presence of a slight astringency, which gives the fruit its peculiarity and piquancy. The aroma includes delicate fruity notes that induce appetite. Bright yellow tomatoes are great for making pastes, juices, sauces and canning for the winter.

Ripening and fruiting

The bred variety has a medium-early ripening period. From the moment the seedlings are planted in the ground to harvesting, it should take from 40 to 45 days, provided that the seedlings are 60 days old.

Yield

With the proper care of Aman, Orange can boast of excellent yields. From one square meter of planting, they collect from 16 to 18 kilograms of large and juicy vegetables. During the season, the bush brings from 3 to 4 kilograms of harvest.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing seeds for seedlings is performed at the end of winter or early spring. As soon as the seedlings are sufficiently strong, they are transplanted into the ground. As a rule, the work is performed at the end of April or at the beginning of May. At the same time, the exact sowing time depends on the growing region and conditions. If tomatoes are to be grown in greenhouses, work should be done during the last winter days. They begin to grow seedlings for open ground in the spring, in the second decade of March.

If the necessary temperature conditions are observed, the seed does not need to be further stimulated. Before planting, you only need to discard the unusable seeds.Only the healthiest, largest and strongest specimens are used, from which full-fledged bushes will grow.

Germination requires peat pots or cups, which can be found at any gardening store. And also pre-prepared containers will do. A suitable soil mixture consists of river sand, peat and sod soil. In order for the seedlings to germinate as soon as possible, the containers are covered with glass or foil. The shelter is removed after the mass emergence of sprouts.

The pick is performed immediately after the formation of two true leaves. The work is carried out for the accelerated development of roots. Another positive effect of this process is that the seedlings tolerate transplanting to a new site better. Before planting, it is advisable to harden young bushes. This is done 14-21 days before disembarkation. The container with seedlings must be transferred to the street and left for a short time, which is increased every day.

Seedlings are transplanted to a permanent cultivation site for at least two months. In each region, disembarkation times will vary due to weather conditions. The territory must be prepared. The site should be cleared of debris, dug up and fertilized. Tomatoes love sunlight, so lighted areas are chosen for growing them.

Note: if cabbage, carrots, greens (parsley and dill), potatoes or cauliflower used to grow in the garden, it is recommended to choose a different location.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The bushes are planted in rows, leaving a distance of 40-60 centimeters between the holes. 3-4 plants can be conveniently placed on one square meter of territory.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and caring

It is desirable to cultivate this variety by seedling method. You can grow young plants yourself by purchasing seed.

During the cultivation of Aman Orange tomatoes, the following agrotechnical measures should be carried out:

  • moderate irrigation;

  • fertilization;

  • loosening the upper layers of the soil;

  • plant formation;

  • protection from diseases and insects;

  • mulching.

Tomatoes are watered abundantly during the period of crop formation. Irrigation is carried out 2-3 times a week. Use settled and warm water. The volume of liquid must be sufficient to reach the root depth. You need to water the bushes in the evening, as soon as the intense heat subsides.

Amana Orange is picky about the composition of the soil, because with an insufficient amount of nutrients, the quality of the crop decreases. The first portion of fertilizers is applied 2 weeks after planting the seedlings in the ground. In 14 days, the plants will have time to fully adapt to new conditions. Experienced summer residents use both mineral and organic substances. Two weeks before harvesting vegetables, feeding is completely stopped.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is highly resistant to viruses, fungi and bacterial diseases. Despite this feature, plants need to be protected from other ailments, for example, from late blight. Preventive treatment with fungicides is carried out periodically. Insecticides are used to control dangerous insects.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Amana Orange is sensitive to changes in weather conditions. Sharp temperature fluctuations, especially cold snaps, can negatively affect the yield and taste of vegetables. And also the tomatoes are getting smaller. After the onset of stable heat, productivity returns. For this reason, most summer residents grow tomatoes in greenhouse conditions. Only in areas with southern climates can you often find this variety outdoors.
