The early Alpha variety was bred by Russian breeders headed by Dubinin and Kirillov (SeDeK company). The species was entered into the State Register of Seed Crops in 2004. The culture has been zoned into all regions of the Russian Federation, with the exception of the Far North. The tomato is ideal for cultivation in greenhouse conditions as well as outdoors.

Alpha is a seed crop that forms a short bush (40-50 cm high) with strong stems and dark green potato-type leaves. Bushes with a standard type of growth that do not require pinching. Support and tying are not needed, however, from the abundance of tomatoes on the branches, the bush can lie on the ground.

Tomato Alpha is endowed with a regular round-flattened shape, red when fully ripe and light green when unripe. Tomatoes are not very large, their weight is 60-80 grams. The skin is of moderate density with a barely noticeable glossy finish. Tomatoes do not withstand long-term transportation and storage for more than 1 month.

Alpha tomatoes are a salad type, so they are ideal for fresh consumption, and they are also suitable for processing into sauces and juices. The fruit tastes juicy, slightly sweet and very aromatic.

Since the variety is early maturing, only 87-96 days pass from the first shoots to harvest. The first harvest can be tasted in the middle of summer and eaten fresh until the first cold nights. Ripening of fruits is uniform, friendly.

The yield indicators of the variety are very high. With proper care, 6.2 kg can be harvested from 1 m2 per fruiting period.

This type of tomato can be planted in the ground by direct sowing, but this is only recommended for southern regions and heated greenhouses. In other cases, seedlings are planted. Planting seeds for seedlings is performed 45-55 days before planting bushes in open ground. The seeds are pre-soaked and then planted in pre-prepared containers with moderately fertilized fertile soil. Growing healthy seedlings will require warmth and regular lighting (14-16 hours a day).

The seedlings grow compact, so they can be dived not into separate containers, but into one large one. The procedure can be carried out only after the appearance of 3 leaves. Before planting in open ground, hardening is carried out. First, this is airing the room for 15-20 minutes, where the bushes grow, and then the seedlings are transferred to fresh air, and a day later they are planted in the ground. Planting is recommended early in the morning or in the evening. Some agronomists recommend planting Alpha tomato seedlings in a temporary plastic tunnel.

The compactness of the variety allows planting 7-9 bushes of seedlings per 1 m2. Before planting, the soil is loosened so that it is saturated with oxygen, cleansing of weeds and other debris. Seedlings are planted in pre-prepared holes. The recommended planting scheme is as follows: 50x40 cm.

Alpha tomatoes can grow in any climatic conditions, the main thing is to provide timely and proper care - watering, feeding, frequent weeding and tying without pulling to support the brushes. Top dressing requires organic, only a few stages during the season of growth and development - grass and ash solutions, the introduction of mineral fertilizers. Watering is carried out exclusively in the soil, while the leaves must remain dry. Loosening and hilling of the soil around the bush is carried out regularly.

The variety is quite resistant to many diseases (late blight) and pest infestation. However, he needs preventive measures to protect against bacteria and disease. In regions with a warm climate, only a bear is scary to the bushes, therefore, preventive treatment with a Bordeaux mixture is necessary.

The variety has excellent endurance, and it is also completely unpretentious to various weather disasters.

Almost all climatic zones are suitable for cultivation. Only the Far North is considered unfavorable. In the southern regions, the fruiting period begins a little earlier than in areas with cooler temperatures.

The variety is not capricious, quickly adapts to the climate and soil, grows and ripens quickly. In addition, compact bushes give abundant yields, characterized by high palatability. The only drawback of the variety, which gardeners and farmers talk about, is the short shelf life of tomatoes and intolerance to long-term transportation.
