The taste of fresh tomatoes attracts consumers, and Russian gardeners love to grow this crop. The hybrid Aphrodite was highly appreciated by them. The plant got its name due to attractive fruits, their pleasant taste, unpretentiousness and early ripening period even in the Ural and Siberian climates.

Breeding history

Tomato selection by specialists in the person of V.V. Ognev, S.V. Maksimov, N.N.Klimenko and A.N.Kostenko was bred in the Urals. The variety was approved for use in 2008.

Description of the variety

Tomato is grown in open ground and in film greenhouses. Bushes with green leaves and red fruits reach a height of 40-50 cm. This is considered to be of medium size.

Aphrodite is a determinant variety, that is, the bush has growth restrictions. Often, under the film and with proper care, the crop grows slightly more than the specified standard height. Plants take root without problems in the greenhouse and in open areas.

The main qualities of the fruit

Unripe tomatoes have a light green skin. By the stage of full ripeness, the color becomes intensely red, without a green tint. The mass of the tomato is 110-115 g. The fruits are round in shape. Under the smooth and thin but firm skin is a very dense pulp with three chambers. The keeping quality of the fruits of Aphrodite is excellent, as is the resistance to cracking.

Taste characteristics

Tomatoes of this variety contain many useful vitamins and valuable minerals. At the same time, they are practically devoid of acids, therefore, they are quite suitable for those who have to adhere to a diet.

The fleshy tomatoes Aphrodite taste sweet and attractive. They are used with pleasure in cooking, for conservation and other options.

Ripening and fruiting

Ultra early ripening. The tomatoes will be ready in 75-80 days. By the timing of the harvest, you can indicate the approximate time period - from July 15 to August 20.

Yield

The declared yield of the tomato named by Aphrodite is 90-100 t / ha, 8.0 kg / m2. On each of the inflorescences, up to six rounded tomatoes of almost identical size are formed.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

For seedlings, the seeds of this variety of tomatoes are planted in the second half of March or even at the end. The first shoots are expected in about seven days. This is a signal to put the container with sprouts in a place with better illumination.

As soon as 3-4 leaves hatch, it is recommended to dive the seedlings of this hybrid. Peat pots are ideal for this. Then the time will come to transplant them into the ground, acting according to the following algorithm:

  1. when transplanting into pots, you need to pinch the central root of each plant: this will lead to the appearance of additional shoots from the roots;
  2. periodically, the seedlings of this type of tomato need watering;
  3. before the night frosts recede, it is advisable to plant the tomatoes under a film, and with the arrival of warming, transplant them for further growth in the open field.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Before planting seeds in the ground, it is necessary to perform certain manipulations. For 1 sq. m of soil will be enough 7-8 bushes. Planting scheme - 70 x 30-40 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Practice has shown that a mixture consisting of soil, compost and humus mixed in equal parts is optimally suitable for planting seed material of the Aphrodite variety on seedlings. You can feed this mixture with an additive in the form of potassium sulfate with superphosphate and a portion of ash.

If you dry out the soil, prematurely removing the covering material, the culture will soon die. A negative result should be expected with excessive watering. There is a high risk of decay of the root system of tomatoes. The sprouts that have not yet formed should be watered under the very roots. It is advisable to devote time to this at first, using a syringe. The hardened sprouts of this hybrid prefer frequent watering, but in small volumes. In the period when the first green growth appears, you can start picking the seedlings.

When the first shoots appear, it is important to create good lighting. If necessary, you can even resort to artificial light sources. The container with seedlings can be placed on the windowsill, but you must make sure that it is not cold there. When the sprouts reach 20 cm in height, their trunks and roots become stronger, foliage develops and buds are tied, the seedlings will be ready for planting in open ground. If the weather is not yet favorable for this, the bushes are transplanted into a greenhouse, where Aphrodite will be able to get stronger faster.

The hybrid accepts neutral soils well. Before starting agrotechnical measures, the soil must be thoroughly loosened. In general, the agrotechnical requirements for growing this hybrid variety are not particularly difficult, and they must be followed strictly:

  • once every 7 days, tomatoes must be pinned;
  • up to 3 stems are left on the bush;
  • feeding is carried out on a regular basis and in the prescribed volume;
  • in the heat, the culture is watered every other day;
  • on cloudy days, it is enough to water the bushes once a week;
  • weeds should be removed regularly so as not to hinder the growth and harmonious development of the crop.
Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic.Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is resistant to late blight, tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), fusarium wilt. But even with excellent immunity, the hybrid often infects root rot.

Also, the tomato beetle loves the Colorado potato beetle, appearing on plants in large quantities, so it is important to regularly inspect the bushes and process them with Bordeaux liquid or copper sulfate.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

This variety is recommended to grow in the North, North-West, Central regions, as well as on the territory of the Central Black Earth Region, North Caucasus, Middle Volga, Nizhnevolzhsky, Ural, West Siberian, East Siberian, Volgo-Vyatka and Far Eastern regions.

Review overview

The fruits delight agronomists with a decent presentation and, which is extremely important, tomatoes do not lose it during transportation. The culture is resistant to summer heat, the ovaries can withstand even the heat. At the same time, the tomato reacts to the vagaries of nature. Tomatoes are delicious to eat fresh, as well as pickled and salted.

Some enthusiastic agronomists successfully grow a hybrid of Aphrodite on the balcony and loggia, but the fruits are somewhat smaller than those stated in the characteristics.
