Garlic from aphids
You can get rid of aphids on plants with the help of garlic. On its basis, effective remedies are prepared against garden parasites. Garlic beds in different areas of the garden will serve as a good protection against harmful microorganisms. The main thing is to properly prepare infusions for spraying horticultural crops.
Garlic properties
Aphids negatively affect the future harvest, destroying vegetation. Garlic tincture or solution will help to cope with it. Garlic is a natural insecticide. It contains antimicrobial components called phytoncides. In addition, diallyl disulfide is present in its composition. In combination with active esters, this substance leads to the death of pathogenic microorganisms.
Ripe garlic contains a large amount of valuable components. Phytoncides are characterized by exceptional activity.
Experiments carried out in laboratory conditions indicate that they act several times faster than "carbolic acid" - one of the most popular antiseptics.
Diallyl disulfide is an organic sulfur compound that gives garlic its characteristic odor. Sulfur is great for fighting pathogens. Garlic is a natural analogue of colloidal sulfur, and an improved one. It is rich in essential oils that are not found in a chemical product. The antimicrobial and antifungal effect is due to the abundance of phytoncides secreted by a plant from the onion family when cutting cloves.
The arrows of this plant can be used in the preparation of medicinal preparations. But they will be less effective in comparison with those that are cooked on the teeth. Garlic phytoncides have the ability to destroy the cell wall. Penetrating into the cytoplasm, they have a depressing effect on the enzymatic activity of pathogenic microorganisms.
Not all phytopathogens are equally susceptible to garlic phytoncides. But for fruit rot, their effect is destructive.
Garlic has a destructive effect on the spores of microorganisms and mycelium cells, suppresses the reproduction of the fungus.
Cooking methods
You can prepare an infusion against aphids in various ways. Garlic arrows and chives are used for this purpose. To ensure the safety of garden crops, you can place garlic beds next to them in advance. For the tincture to be effective, it must be kept for at least 3 days. Fill the teeth with cold water. For 10 liters of liquid, you will need a glass of chopped garlic. It is not necessary to strictly observe the proportions. The main condition is the presence of a pronounced garlic aroma. It is he who drives away the garden aphids.
Garlic arrows are the most effective way to fight. They are scattered in the garden, laid out under bushes, tied to branches. They can even rub tree trunks.
The shooters will provide reliable protection for several weeks and drive away aphids with their persistent scent.
Another option to combat parasites is to spread the teeth under the bushes. Or grind them, add to water, insist for a day, and then spray with the resulting plant substance. To increase the effectiveness of the mixture, you can add soap to it, for example, laundry or liquid soap. Grate the bars on a coarse grater and dissolve in water. The soap mixture will glue the aphids together, prevent them from escaping from the garden, completely destroy them.
The tincture can be prepared in another way. Pass the raw materials through a meat grinder and dilute with water in a 1: 1 ratio. Place in a dark place and leave for one week to 10 days.Processing is carried out with a solution prepared from 50 ml of tincture and 10 liters of liquid.
Any of these formulations work immediately after use.
The result is noticeable already after a day, because aphids cannot stand a sharp garlic smell.
Terms of use
The processing of plants in the garden must be carried out according to the rules. The garlic-based solution is poured into a spray bottle. As a result, spraying is carried out from bottom to top. Aphid colonies are located on the back of the leaves, so when sprayed from above, the product will not penetrate the foliage. Using a container with a spray bottle, turn each leaf. Spraying must be thorough. This method is more often used to treat a few plants that need to be saved from aphids.
When irrigating with a watering can, the solution is consumed in greater quantities, but its concentration is higher. Water each petal thoroughly. Aphid colonies are destroyed not only by processing foliage, but also by irrigating plantings. The main thing is not to harm the plants themselves.
For this reason, you need to carefully follow the recipes, do not overdo it with the amount of the main component.
