Before the next seasonal work in greenhouses, it is advisable to carry out preventive measures. To avoid problematic moments with the future harvest, experienced summer residents in the spring must disinfect the soil in the greenhouse. For this, "Fitosporin" is used.

There are those who are wary of such drugs, considering them toxic. But, it is "Fitosporin" that is made entirely on a natural basis, suitable for all types of crops and it can be used without harm to humans and risk to the harvest.

In this article, we will tell you more about this universal remedy for combating phyto-diseases, draw attention to what recommendations should be followed when diluting it, and also mention the safety measures when working with the drug.

Advantages and disadvantages

A polycarbonate greenhouse is most often treated with "Fitosporin", doing this in preparation for the new harvest season. This is a good prevention against various pests, as well as diseases: the drug disinfects the soil, simultaneously improving its structure and enriching its composition with organic substances.

"Fitosporin" is classified as an active and rather aggressive biological preparation, it has a high content of bacteria Bacillus subtilis, which, getting into the ground, actively multiply and cleanse the soil of harmful microorganisms (destroy larvae, spores, microbes).

There is no need to worry about the beneficial elements - they do not suffer from these bacteria. "Fitosporin" does not disturb the soil structure either.

Let's dwell on the advantages of using the drug:

  • possesses growth-regulating properties;
  • environmentally friendly, safe for humans;
  • easy to use;
  • highly effective against pathogenic microorganisms;
  • helps to increase yields by a quarter;
  • feeds the soil with useful organic substances;
  • can be used with other fungicides;
  • acceptable cost of the drug.

As disadvantages, it is noted that the powder solution is used immediately after dilution. If it stands a little, it will already be unusable. Well, and the fact that under the influence of direct sunlight, bacteria die.

Do not use "Fitosporin" at the time of plant infection, that is, it is useless to "treat" them, but to treat them as a prophylaxis against diseases and pests is the very thing.

Processing time

As soon as the warm days come with the arrival of spring, you can start decontamination. The timing depends on the weather and the location of the greenhouses. In most regions, soil disinfection can be started after the first snow melt, when the ground has slightly moved away from frost.

Spring cultivation of greenhouses for the central part of Russia may begin in April, while in the south of the country - in early March. In colder regions - during the May holidays just before planting.

How to dilute the drug?

Fitosporin is available in powder, liquid solution and paste. The agent is diluted as follows.

  1. The pasty composition is dissolved in warm water based on the proportion of 1 part of the paste and 2 parts of the liquid. The rest of the solution is stored at 15 degrees of heat in a dark place. Direct exposure to sunlight is not permitted.
  2. The dosage of "Fitosporin" in powder per bucket of warm water is 5 grams. The greenhouse frame is treated with the solution and the soil is watered for planting.In this solution, bacteria quickly die, so it is used immediately, the composition cannot be stored.
  3. Consumption of an aqueous suspension (liquid form) "Fitosporin" - 50 drops for each liter of warm water. The prepared product is also used immediately, it will not be suitable if it stands. They wash the walls and roof of greenhouses.

What form to choose - powder, paste or suspension - the summer resident decides for himself, based on what is to be processed. And remember that only a solution from a paste is stored, compositions of powder and liquid concentrate are used immediately after preparation.

Instructions for use

"Fitosporin" is used to treat the greenhouse itself and the land in it. The greenhouse is disinfected twice a year: in spring and autumn. The drug is diluted only in warm water (preferably non-chlorinated), pieces of laundry soap can be added to the solution (it is better to grate them) or another detergent, including dishwashing detergent. Experienced gardeners talk about the effectiveness of this compound in pet shampoo.

  • To wash greenhouses, stock up on a brush and thoroughly wash the entire greenhouse: in addition to the walls, walk on the roof, process the slats and disinfect the frames under the seedling beds.
  • After such treatment, you do not need to rinse everything with water, the greenhouse will clean itself on its own thanks to condensation.
  • After disinfection of the greenhouse, they begin to cultivate the soil. Here you will already need a powder or paste, diluted in warm water.

Why, after disinfecting the greenhouse frame, is it necessary to use Fitosporin for the soil as well? First of all, it is necessary to get rid of pathogenic microbes and pest larvae that overwintered in the soil.

In addition, "Fitosporin" is used against the appearance of fungal and other diseases, to improve the structure of the earth and as an additional organic feeding. The processing technology of the soil preparation is as follows.

  1. Dilute Fitosporin in warm water according to the instructions (description above).
  2. If you take a concentrate, dilute it at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water. One such portion is enough to water 2 square meters of soil.
  3. The cultivated soil must be sprinkled with dry earth and covered; for this, a film or agrofibre is suitable.
  4. After a week, the "coverlet" is removed, and after another day you can start planting.

All manipulations should be carried out only at a temperature not exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, otherwise the beneficial bacteria in the preparation will die, and there will be no benefit from such treatment. If it was not possible to cultivate the soil before planting the plants, you can do it afterwards: dilute "Fitosporin" and spray it with a solution, without fear that it will harm.

In this case, it will act both as an organic fertilizer and as a blocker for the causative agents of fusarium and anthracnose. Such preventive treatment will not allow the development of black rot, powdery mildew, phytosporosis and other diseases.

Precautionary measures

Despite the fact that "Fitosporin" is a biological preparation and contains only natural microorganisms, you need to adhere to simple rules when working with it.

  1. Strictly follow the instructions and the indicated dilution proportions.
  2. Dilute the drug only in warm water, but not higher than 35 degrees.
  3. It is better to make a solution from the concentrate 2 hours before use. This time is needed for the beneficial microorganisms contained in the preparation to awaken.
  4. Do not use Fitosporin if the air temperature is less than 15 degrees Celsius. In this case, the bacteria will not work, they simply will not come out of hibernation.
  5. Do not use cold and chlorinated water for breeding Fitosporin.
  6. Dilute the product only in clean containers that have not been previously used for diluting chemicals.

Now, as for a person's own safety: "Fitosporin" is not toxic and generally safe, but it can cause itching, burning, redness if it gets on the skin. Adhere to the following rules when working with the drug:

  • work in protective equipment: gloves, a respirator or a special mask;
  • do not smoke during processing;
  • do not eat in the treated area;
  • if "Fitosporin" gets on the mucous membrane or skin, you should immediately rinse these areas with warm water;
  • in case of ingestion of the drug, an urgent gastric lavage will be needed, and then you need to drink activated charcoal;
  • "Fitosporin" is not diluted in dishes intended for further use for food purposes;
  • at the end of the work, wash with warm water and detergent.

Store the drug (undiluted) at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees. The suspension can be stored in a room in a separate dark corner, the main thing is that the drug is not available to small children and pets. It is not recommended to put medicines, food, food and so on next to this product.

Subject to all the rules for the use of the drug and safety while working with it, "Fitosporin" will bring great benefits to the summer resident. Do not let pathogens and larvae attack your seedlings, use Fitosporin wisely for the benefit of your work.
