Manufacturers of electronic devices present in their assortment a huge selection of LED spotlights. In stores, customers can see a wide variety of shapes and types of these models. In Russia, spotlights appeared about 15-17 years ago and gained immense popularity due to their minimalism and practicality.

Models today are not limited to standard shapes. Interior designers have created a distinction by shape among the fixtures. Styles are comparable to the fashionable direction of a particular time.

  • For example, models style "Irony" combine a drop of some lightheadedness and humor. The style appeared at the end of the last century. Experts advise installing such models in children's rooms.
  • "Bionics" - one of the most popular destinations of the last few years. The style itself appeared in the 70s and comes from the word "bio". In their shapes, lamps in this direction are similar to natural forms - honeycombs, shells, etc.
  • One of the very first styles - Art deco - also popular in modern design. For this direction, the correct geometry is inherent. Designers claim that real Art Deco lamps are handmade.

Characteristic

The power consumption comes out of the cost of the LEDs with the driver. The last part receives about 1-2 watts of energy. When purchasing lamps made in China, they may be of very poor quality. Chinese lamps or models of unknown origin may be made of substandard or hazardous plastic.

When it comes to color temperature, there are three types of LED lamps - natural, white and yellow.

The first model is comparable to normal daylight and is characterized by 3500 to 5300 Kelvin. Such views are classified as neutral lighting. Such models can be used in all living and working areas. If we talk about ordinary incandescent lamps, then their temperature is approximately 2800 degrees. In the European lighting gradation, LED lamps with this degree are referred to as yellow.

The traditional warm light is perfect for bedrooms and living rooms. Lighting from 2,700 to 3,400 degrees creates a warm and soft environment in rooms. Such a model over the dining table will also look good.

The bright white color is characterized from 5400 to 6600 Kelvin. It is perfect for lighting in dressing rooms, hallways, kitchen work areas, bathrooms, basements.

In non-residential premises, bright white light is most often used, thus creating a working mood.

Advantages and disadvantages

When choosing these lamps for installation in an apartment, it is necessary to take into account both the positive and negative aspects of these devices.

Pros:

  • Appliances in a room can be partially installed - for example, only above a seating area or a work table. As a result, lighting in the apartment will be done only in the necessary areas.

  • Unlike single chandeliers, spotlights provide uniform illumination over the entire area of the room.

  • There is practically no shadow left from point models. Each stream of light is directed directly and is not scattered across the room or ceiling.

  • One of the main advantages is cost effectiveness. A single luminaire consumes much less energy than a conventional lamp. LEDs consume about 10 watts and diodes consume 75 watts.

  • The efficiency of an LED luminaire reaches up to 90%, while an ordinary light bulb - 15-20%.

  • Safety in use is another plus of these models. LEDs do not heat up with prolonged use above 50 degrees. The lamp body is not melted.

  • The service life of the LED lamp is very long. A quality model will last about 12 years, while an incandescent lamp will last up to 3 months.

Among the mass of positive advantages, LED lamps have some disadvantages.

One of the most important disadvantages is the complexity in assembling and designing lighting fixtures. Before starting all work, it is best to plan where the lamps themselves, LED strips and switches will be located. Such a plan will greatly facilitate the further installation of devices.

When using 12 W appliances, it is best to install power supplies or transformers.

LEDs are best installed in an apartment with a ceiling height of 2.5 meters. This is due to the fact that LED lamps are most often mounted under a suspended and suspended ceiling - from the main ceiling, the new one will become at least 7-10 centimeters lower.

In comparison, you can see that there are much more positive aspects in installing LED bulbs than negative ones. In many cases, the shortcomings are not so critical that they refuse to install these devices.

  • Recessed or recessed luminaires - one of the most popular options for any premises. At their cost, they are the cheapest and can vary in color and material of the rim and diameter. They are mounted not only in the ceiling. They can become part of the interior and add a line of light on the floor or in the wall. In addition, the models are installed in furniture.
  • In contrast to such models - waybills... They consist of three elements: a metal mounting plate, a body and a diffuser. At their core, overhead lighting fixtures are small chandeliers. By their design, they differ in the diffuser.
  • Also manufacturers offer pendant models, consisting of two parts, located at a distance from each other. There is a socket with a spot lamp at one end, and fasteners at the other.
  • Among Led-lamps there are also waterproof... Such devices are installed in bathrooms and kitchen work areas. You can usually find them in stores by a special mark on the packaging. Unlike conventional models, the waterproof ones have tread gaskets that are mounted on both sides. As a result, the lamp is protected from moisture. The LED itself is protected by a dense layer of glass or plastic.
  • Another option for decorative variety is illuminated lamps... The backlight can be made along the contour or using a colored overlay.
  • For street rooms and ceremonies, models are used with motion sensor... During installation, in addition to the luminaire, an additional device is installed that automatically reacts to movement. Such lamps allow you to save energy when there is no one in the room or on the street.

Installing them in apartments (especially small ones) is not very profitable - the sensors can be triggered by the walking of pets or the slam of the door.

  • Rotary model used in conventional spotlights. Designers most often use these models to illuminate specific areas or create an outline on a wall.
  • Remote Control Models very much in demand in large rooms - be it an apartment or an office. This is very convenient, since you no longer have to think about the fact that the light can only be turned off at a certain point where the switch is located. You can now turn off the lights in a room while in another room.

Recently, they are very popular dimmable models... Such lamps have a voltage controller. They combine aesthetic design and Led technology. The angle of the scattered light can be increased due to the structure of the light fixture. The lamps can be used in both conventional chandeliers and small lamps.

Dimmers are divided into three types:

  • Mechanical. In place of the switch, a wheel appears, by rotating which you control the brightness level in the room.
  • On touch control. This design is more expensive than the previous version and is equipped with a touch display, on which the power level of the lamps is set.
  • Remote controlled. With the help of the control panel, you can control not only the presence of light in the room, but also the voltage level and other functions.

The form

Square and round models are considered standard shapes. However, today manufacturers offer oval, square, rounded devices.

Non-standard options include wave-like models, flexible lamps. Recessed spotlights of a square shape are very popular today.

Dimensions (edit)

Mini lamps are used to illuminate furniture. They are built into the furniture body and are additional lighting, not the main one. However, they are sometimes very necessary for the overall look of the interior. Usually, for round models, the dimensions are determined not by the outer casing, but by the diameter of the inlet.

Usually LED lamps for shop windows and small spaces are marked with JDR mark. They are divided into base / plinths at E14 and E27. Standard bulbs are labeled JCDR and MR16. They are distinguished by the base GU5.3 and GU10.

JC models with a G4 socket (12V) are considered low voltage.

Lamps are used to illuminate kitchen units, cabinets and other furniture.

Colors

All lamp models, first of all, are distinguished by the color of the body. When LED bulbs first came into vogue, manufacturers offered only limited color options. Today, the stores offer different colors: it can be black or red, finished in gold or bronze. The choice of case depends on the color of the ceiling and the design of the room itself.

In addition to choosing a lamp body, you can experiment with the color of the lamps itself. LED lamps take on their colors using colored glass. Very often, such models are used to illuminate entertainment venues, bedrooms and children's rooms. The standard colors that can be found in any store are blue, yellow, red and green.

In designer boutiques, you can custom-make exactly the color you want.

Application area

There are several areas of application for LED lamps.

  • First of all, the models were widely used for installation on stretch ceilings. They can install lamps for stairs and furniture. In this case, they are mounted in wooden cases.
  • Also distinguish between LED luminaires for industrial purposes. They are used to build lighting systems.
  • For office models, bright white light is used.
  • In the entrance halls and basements, inexpensive lamps with anti-vandal coating are installed.
  • And for the landscape and street interior, they use large floodlights.

How to choose?

Draw a plan and choose a ceiling. First, in the drawing, place the places where you want to install spotlights.

Please note that you should not mount lamps in non-working areas - in addition to the extra costs, you will get an unnecessary lamp.

For stretch ceilings, the choice is made on models with halogen or LED lamps. When choosing models for PVC ceilings, pay attention to the types of lamps. They do not tolerate high temperatures, so LED lights are ideal. For a fabric ceiling, both those and those models are suitable.

When calculating the number of luminaires, remember that one model with a standard diameter of up to 80 mm is enough for 2 square meters of the room.

In addition, you can use the formula: N = (S * W) / P, where S is the area of the room, W is the specific power of the lamp, P is the power of one lighting device.

When purchasing bulbs, look at lumens, not watts. The last indicator shows how much energy the lamp absorbs, and the first is the brightness of the lamp.

It is impossible to compare the watts of LED lamps and incandescent lamps together, although we previously bought the latest models with this indicator in mind.
