LED bedside lamps - lamps of the future, the distinctive features of which are an exceptionally long service life and significant functionality. The products are widely used in city apartments and country houses; they can be easily integrated into modern interiors.

Advantages

The first LED lamps appeared half a century ago and only now began to become widespread in the arrangement of residential premises. LED technologies are gradually replacing conventional sources and have the following advantages:

  • Life time. LEDs ensure uninterrupted operation for more than 50 thousand hours;
  • Energy efficiency. Accessories consume less electricity, which saves on power to the appliances. In addition, there are battery-powered products;
  • Brightness. Energy losses are minimal: almost all of it is converted into light, which is evenly distributed throughout the room. At the same time, heat is released several times less. Models support brightness control;
  • Functionality. The LED night light allows you to change the color temperature. The model allows you to get both warm yellowish shades and cold blue shades, which are selected depending on the purpose of the lamp and the preferences of the owner;
  • Environmental friendliness. The technology used is safe for human health. Lamps do not emit phosphorus, mercury and other harmful elements, which makes it possible to make a children's night light.

The accessories are suitable for both permanent use and decorative lighting. This is achieved through a wide variety of possible shades and shapes. RGB LEDs are easy to adjust, allowing you to project different patterns and images onto surfaces. The advantages of accessories include the fact that they do not heat up and provide a high level of fire safety.

Resistance to mechanical shock helps to extend the life of the products. They are made of durable materials and are devoid of fragile elements in their design (they do not have filaments and glass bulbs). Products withstand external influences, are resistant to temperature extremes and are able to function in high humidity conditions. Due to their lightness, flexibility and mobility, the devices can be desktop, ceiling or wall mounted.

Varieties

The classification of nightlights depends on their design features and principles of operation. First of all, accessories are divided into those that are connected to the network and powered by batteries. Autonomous models are distinguished by their mobility, are located anywhere in the room, and will be used in the country or on the road.

Depending on how the diodes are located in the lamp, the following types of accessories are distinguished:

  • Multicolor. When using them, three basic shades are mixed, due to which rays of different tones are obtained, projected onto the walls and ceiling. Typically, red, blue and green are used. Such nightlights are classified as decorative; they can be used to decorate a room during the holidays;
  • Increased power. To create such nightlights, powerful diodes are used, located in two rows. They provide the highest possible level of light, therefore the accessories are suitable for use as the main light sources;
  • Ultraviolet. To create them, additives with semiconductors are chosen, which make it possible to change the color of the night light.

The diode night light is also divided into children and adults, it is classified by color: white, green, blue, red, mixed and other models are distinguished. There are traditional DIP type nightlights, which are considered obsolete. The improved models with COW and SMD markings are distinguished by the best functionality and quality. They are resistant to voltage surges and have a wide range of functions.

Manufacturers offer night lights with a motion sensor. It allows you to set the distance at which the lamp will automatically light up. In this case, there is no need to use switches and control panels. The technology is based on an infrared sensor that reacts to the heat of the human body. Additionally, the system allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the system.

The device is connected to a DC mains and is attached to any surface. To install a night light with a motion sensor, double-sided tape, magnets, hinges, screws are used, depending on the specific model. The advantage of this model is significant energy savings.

Selection Tips

The style of the lamp should be consistent with the interior of the room. When drawing up a bedroom design, the basic rules for combining colors and shapes are taken into account. LED bedside lamps will be appropriate in modern loft-style interiors, minimalism, hi-tech, a wooden accessory will complement a more traditional room. You can install as one accessory next to the bed, or place several lamps throughout the room. The latter option is appropriate when the room is used not only for sleeping, but also for work, which is why it should be as light as possible during the day.

What parameters are taken into account when buying an LED night light:

  • Material. It must be strong and resistant to external shocks. Plastic products will not break when dropped and are suitable for children's rooms. And nightlights made of wood with LEDs will decorate rooms, the design of which contains elements of classic styles, and will look advantageous with wood furniture. Plexiglass accessories look bright and unusual, shimmer beautifully when using colored diodes;
  • Colour. The most practical and versatile are white bedside lamps, which have a beneficial effect on the eyes and are easily combined with interior items. Colored diodes can sparkle, create patterns and project them onto walls. Such models will appeal to children, however, first of all, they will play a decorative role;
  • The form. Manufacturers offer both regular oval products and accessories in the form of a star, crescent or butterfly. Models devoid of decorative elements will perfectly fit into a minimalistic interior, and a flower night light will appeal to young girls;
  • Functionality. The simplest luminaires are equipped with only an on / off button. More complex devices can change hue, react to sounds. There are also models with a motion sensor or a light sensor that start working automatically when the room gets dark. Based on the capabilities of the night light, its price, the level of consumed electricity are formed;
  • Appointment. The child will like more colorful models with an unusual shape. For children, models with a light sensor, made in the form of an animal or resembling a toy, for example, a train night light, are suitable. They are also purchased for the loft bed. Adults often choose accessories with a minimum of decor;
  • Quality - a criterion that cannot be neglected when buying a night light or any product in general. Accessories from European manufacturers are famous for their quality and have a long service life. Chinese copies and fakes will be cheap, however, they can fail very quickly. Therefore, you should give preference to proven brands, read reviews about specific models of LED nightlights.

How to do it yourself?

Having decided to make a lamp on their own, a person gets the opportunity to realize any author's idea. The process will take a minimum of time and will require the use of basic tools that are widely available.

What is required to assemble an LED night light:

  • Fumigator. A failed device will be required;
  • Resistor. It is recommended to choose a small or medium device to reduce energy consumption;
  • Capacitors. It will take two pieces;
  • Two white LEDs.

The fumigator is opened and LEDs are installed in place of the heating element. The voltage from the mains will be supplied to the device through the capacitor. As a result, its excess will act on the rectifier bridge of the available elements. A resistor and a capacitor are connected at the output to smooth out the resulting ripple. The voltage must be at least 400 V.

The second option for creating a night light is with an electrical plug. In addition to this element, you will need diodes and LEDs, two resistors and capacitors, a zener diode and PVC tubes. The grounding contact and the clamp are removed from the plug, after which the rim of the LED is grinded off (for this, a file is used). PVC tubes are used to prevent short circuits.

The electronic circuit is assembled in the same way as in the previous case, a plug is used as a base. The resulting product is installed in a shade of any shape you like. It, in turn, is purchased in a store (if we are talking about plastic or glass models) or do it yourself. The frame can be cut out of wood, covered with paints and varnishes and protective impregnations.
