It's easy to work with it, you can fantasize and get amazing results.

The polymer is endowed with the following characteristics:

  • looks like glass, but does not break and weighs several times less;
  • in a solidified form, the resin is absolutely harmless;
  • it has excellent adhesion to any surface;
  • the material repels water;
  • transmits light, which allows the production of lamps of any configuration and purpose;
  • epoxy resin has good strength, wear resistance and reliability.

As for the lamp made of polymer, it contains many advantages:

  • environmentally friendly;
  • has an unusual and attractive appearance;
  • it is distinguished by its uniqueness, since a handmade product is always individual;
  • endowed with a diffused soft glow;
  • able to decorate any interior.

When purchasing polymer resin, you should be careful, otherwise you can mistakenly buy epoxy glue, which is unsuitable for creativity.

Species overview

The luminous intensity of an epoxy fixture will depend on the power of the fixture hidden inside the product. In addition to the degree of brightness, polymer lamps are divided into types according to their application and decorative elements enclosed in a transparent shell.

You can use epoxy resin lighting fixtures in any way.

Floor lamps

They illuminate the floor, stair treads, helping to safely pass through the rooms at night. They can also create an amazing romantic setting.

Sconce

Lamps on the walls look beautiful from epoxy resin, spreading warm, diffused light around them.

Table night light

It can be installed on bedside tables or in children's rooms. It does not interfere with sleep, it has a calming effect with its even gentle light. Due to abstract or natural subjects, it has an attractive appearance.

Luminous decor

In the dark, the illuminated decor elements in the interior look delightful and mysterious.

Paintings

In most cases, they depict the sea, natural landscapes, filled with a thin layer of resin and acting as a wall or table lamp.

Floor

Glow underfoot is a design trick used in hallways and bathrooms.

Backlit furniture

With the help of epoxy material, they create unusual luminous tables, cabinets, and decorate the surfaces of shelves. Such furniture becomes a large-scale luminaire that solves different tasks.

  • You won't even need candles for a romantic evening. It is enough to connect the tabletop and its glow will create a private atmosphere.
  • The kitchen can be used with work and dining tables made entirely of epoxy resin with recessed lights.
  • It is easy to sit on the glowing stools without missing a shot, even in the dark.
  • The garden plot is decorated with unusual stumps with LED strips embedded in polymer. They can be admired or used as stools.
  • The glow of the bed and bedside tables is also provided by lighting fixtures hidden under a layer of epoxy resin.

Design options

Epoxy gives you a lot of creativity. You can diversify the lamps not only by the types of molds for pouring, but also by the contents hidden behind the polymer layers.

Inside are objects containing natural materials - flowers, grass, branches, leaves. Alluring natural energy emanates from them.

Also attractive are stones, shells, moss, tree bark, sealed in an array of resin:

  • autumn herbarium and flowers in wooden lamps;
  • graceful grass leaves with air bubbles;
  • dry branches are attractive in their own way;
  • lamp from a cut of wood.

You can not only fill in the ready-made natural material with resin, but also create real plot pictures, into which you can also introduce toy, sculptural, home-made heroes:

  • the lamp imitates a durable stone that encloses and reliably protects a beautiful corner of nature;
  • natural landscapes captured at different times of the year are a favorite topic for art crafts;
  • a plot with a night forest and an owl is ideal for a night light;
  • lamps with a clown and other non-standard characters can also find their place in interior design.

You can fill in polymer not only with natural material, but also with everything that comes to hand: lego parts, nails, bolts, paper clips. The main thing is that in the end it turns out to be creative and fun. Such products adorn interiors in loft, boho or pop art styles.

Sometimes a decorative base is used for luminaires, for example, a piece of wood filled with epoxy resin, and an ordinary round lamp rises above it. The seemingly simple product belongs to designer finds and is not cheap.

Unusual night lights include a simple model, which is a luminous epoxy ball. It is installed on a structure of wooden planks assembled in the form of broken lines.

If you wake up at night, you might think that the moon is shining in the room on the table.

Stylish pendant lanterns in black and white are made of polymers. They are able to decorate a cafe and a cozy home environment.

Manufacturing secrets

An epoxy lamp is beautiful and original, and its production is a fascinating process that requires imagination and artistic taste. We offer a master class on making a structure from a fragment of wood and polymer.

For beginners, before starting work on the lamp, you should test the mixing of epoxy resin with hardener and dye. If everything worked out, you can get to work. To create a craft, we need:

  • wooden beam, which will become the basis of the lamp;
  • epoxy polymer;
  • hardener;
  • those wishing to tint the epoxy resin need to purchase pigments or dye paste of the desired color;
  • wood treatment compounds (polyester oils or varnishes);
  • milling machine;
  • means for grinding with surfaces of different grain sizes;
  • drill;
  • acrylic is purchased to create mold;
  • mixing containers and sticks;
  • sealant.

As for the luminous element itself, it all depends on the desire of the master. You can fill in LEDs or LED strip.

We suggest working with a low power LED lamp, which provides low heating.

You will also need a cartridge and an electric cable with a plug.

Before starting work, you need to make a sketch of the future lamp. Then, step by step, perform a series of simple actions.

  • Give the prepared bar the desired shape according to the sketch, then grind it well. The product looks more attractive if the wooden base is smaller than its polymer part. The bar itself may have a smooth cut or torn edges. The second option looks more impressive.
  • Next, you need to drill a through hole in a wooden blank for an LED lamp with a socket.
  • On the one hand, a cable will be connected to the beam, on the other, the epoxy part of the luminaire. The hole between the base and the resin must be closed. To do this, a part is cut out of transparent plastic or glass that is suitable in size to hide it.
  • Then it is necessary to prepare a mold (formwork), where the epoxy resin will be poured. To do this, 4 surfaces are cut out of acrylic, with the help of adhesive tape they are connected into a rectangular box with equal sides. The structure is installed on a wooden base and the joints are sealed.
  • Pigment is added to the resin, followed by a hardener. The proportions are indicated on the original packaging. The composition should be introduced into the formwork quickly, before it begins to harden. The final solidification will occur in a day, after which the mold is removed.
  • The polymer part of the lamp is carefully polished, and the wood part is varnished.
  • A lamp is inserted into a wooden base, a cable is passed through and fixed with clamps. The cable will need a small side hole, which is best drilled in advance. The wide outer opening can be covered with a cut-out plywood cover.

Where to put?

The epoxy resin luminaire contains natural materials and will suit any setting, whether modern or historic. The product can take its place on the bedside table in the bedroom or near the baby's crib to serve as a night light. For the living room, a polymer lamp will become a beautiful decor - it is able to please guests and hosts with an exclusive exquisite look. And for those in love, the soft mysterious light of the lamp will help fill a private dinner with romantic notes.
