Table size - "book": how to choose the right model?

Every person in the post-Soviet space is well acquainted with such a product as a table-book. This furniture gained wide popularity in the twentieth century. And this is not without reason, since the book-table is very convenient, functional and compact.

It allows you to comfortably seat many guests at the table, and when you are not using it - it converts very easily into a small and compact bedside table. When folded, the product can be placed near a wall or even hidden in a pantry. This piece of furniture is simply irreplaceable for small apartments.

Today this furniture is still in the same demand. However, modern models have a very stylish and attractive appearance.

This piece of furniture gets its name from the similarity of its drop-down design to the cover of a book. And, of course, its most important advantage is the ability to change its size, for this it is enough just to raise one or two tabletops.

When folded, this table takes up very little space. This table model can be classified as ergonomic furniture, because it is very convenient and helps to equip even the smallest rooms.

There are several different modifications of the book table:

• The classic model is a folding dining table. Folds down if you push in one or two legs. Such products are convenient to use in the kitchen or loggia, since folded furniture takes up very little space and significantly saves free space;
• Small transforming tables are also very convenient for the kitchen, take up a minimum of free space;

• Models on wheels - such a book-table will be very convenient to move around the apartment to the desired place;
• A book-table with drawers is a convenient and functional model, often used in living rooms, bedrooms and even in offices. Drawers are located on the sides of the product, it is very convenient to store small things in them.

Retractable legs of products can be made of wood or chrome. Any of these options will be durable and reliable, so choose them based on the overall style of your apartment's interior.

The main advantage of the "book" table is its small folded size. However, before buying, it is necessary to take into account the parameters of the table in both folded and unfolded versions. This is required in order to make sure that the product fits seamlessly in the place where you plan to use it.

Different models of book tables can have different dimensions. Most popular parameters:

• Standard models of tables, made in the USSR, in the folded version had parameters of 30x75x85 centimeters, and in the open version - 170x76x85 centimeters. If only one half of the item is open, its dimensions were 100x76x85 centimeters;

• There are models of large dining tables, books, they are much larger when unfolded than other similar models. The height of such tables is on average 74-75 cm. And the parameters of the products in the open form range from 155 cm to 174 (length) and from 83 cm to 90 cm (width);
• The largest dining table commercially available is 230 centimeters long when unfolded. Its width is 80 cm and height - 75 cm. Even the largest company will be able to accommodate very comfortably at such a table;

• The open model "standard" has the following dimensions: height from 70 to 75 cm, length 130-147 cm, width 60-85 cm;
• There are also miniature tables-books on sale, which, despite their small size, are still very comfortable and functional. They are also called book coffee tables. The height of such a table can start from 50 cm, and the average width is 60 cm.

1. Tabletop dimensions - the tabletop will consist of two large slabs (identical to each other) and one small one. The length of the large ones should be 70 cm, the width - 80 cm. The dimensions of the small part of the table top are 35x80 cm;
2. The parameters of the legs and frame - the product should be 75 cm high, for this you need to take a 4x4 centimeters bar and 2x4 centimeters slats;
3. Side parts - they will need two boards 35 cm wide and 73 cm long.

Most often, book tables are made from inexpensive and affordable materials such as MDF or chipboard. The table top of the product undergoes a lamination procedure. Its shape can be rectangular or oval. They also differ in thickness. The thickness of the countertop does not affect the appearance of the product in any way, however, its cost will depend on this parameter.

The most common options are models in brown tones. This shade is not easily soiled and very practical, therefore it is very popular among buyers. However, if you want to purchase stylish and unusual furniture, take a closer look at the tables in white, beige or gray tones. This product design will look very impressive and modern.
