Barrel tables

If you find an old barrel in the country, you should not immediately throw it away. After all, you can make various pieces of furniture from it. So, tanks are often taken as a basis for the manufacture of tables. Today we will look at how you can make such a structure with your own hands.

Any barrels can be used to create the table. Models with such a wooden base will look beautiful in the interior. But often both metal and plastic containers are taken.

Currently, there is a huge variety of ideas on how to design such a table. Using an old barrel, you can build a coffee table, bar furniture, small structures for a summer residence.

It will be interesting to look in the interior of the room with such a coffee table, decorated in dark colors (black, gray, dark blue, brown). At the same time, it can also be supplemented with various elements made of wood or metal, and images can be applied in the form of inscriptions. Such options can perfectly fit into modern design options.

A small bar table made of wooden containers will look unusual. In this case, it is possible to build compartments in the interior of the product for storing bottles and glasses. The surface of the structure can be coated with paint, or you can create an antique design.

Consider the simplest way to make a table from an old tank. First, you will need to prepare all the materials necessary for this:

• iron barrel;

• wooden boards;

• sandpaper (with varying degrees of grit);

• construction adhesive mass;

• hacksaw for metal;

• dye;

• protective varnish.

After everything you need to make such furniture is ready, you can start creating. First you need to take a barrel, which is thoroughly cleaned and dried.

Then the contour should be sanded, this can be done with sandpaper. This procedure will get rid of irregularities on the surface. It is coated with acrylic paint and a protective compound.

At the same time, wooden boards are taken. The tabletop of the future table will be formed from them. To begin with, they are adjusted to the desired dimensions. This is done with a saw or a special wood saw.

The shape of the countertop can be square or round. The boards are fixed on the barrel. It is better to fasten it with a special construction glue for wood. Then the resulting surface is also carefully sanded.

If desired, it is covered with paint. It is also recommended to apply a protective coating.

Consider another option for creating a table from a barrel. In this case, you will need the following materials:

• wine barrel;

• wooden boards;

• roulette;

• simple pencil;

• stain or other coating;

• self-tapping screws;

• bolts;

• sandpaper;

• electric drill;

• a circular saw;

• jigsaw.

First, you will need to process a wooden wine barrel (the best option would be a capacity of 200 liters). It is sanded, and then the even treated surface is covered with protective substances. After that, it is cut into two equal parts along the direction.It is better to do this with a circular saw.

It is worth working with the saw only in special protective goggles and gloves. It is also recommended to use a respirator. Both parts of the sawn barrel are reworked if necessary. And this applies not only to wooden parts, but also to the metal rim. The same part is covered with a special composition for protection. It should be applied in several layers.

Then you can start making the mount for the barrel. For this, wooden boards are taken. Curved lines are marked on their surface, which should coincide with the value of the diameter of the wine barrel. Later, parts are cut out along the marked lines. Do this with an electric jigsaw.

For to ensure the proper stability of the future table, it is worth forming a solid partition from a wooden board. It will have to be placed perpendicular to the legs made in advance. All this is fixed with self-tapping screws and a screwdriver.

Next, measure the length of the barrel with a tape measure and fix another wooden board at its base, it will have to connect the legs of the structure to each other. You need to fix the part strictly in the center.

When the board is securely fixed, all this is carefully sanded. This procedure is carried out in several stages, each of which uses sandpaper with varying degrees of graininess. You should start with the largest one.

After this treatment, the wood is covered with oil specially designed for this material. At the final stage of manufacturing, the table top is formed. To create it, boards and a circular saw are taken, with which they are given the desired dimensions. After that, the boards are firmly glued together with a special adhesive and clamped with clamps. Wait until the substance is completely dry and hardened enough. Then, to ensure reliability and better stability, wooden beams are attached to the lower part of the structure.

A frame should be made for the coffee table. In this case, the cut of the board will have to be placed at an angle of 45 degrees, this is necessary for joints with other parts. Remember that the dimensions of the frame must match the dimensions of the table top. At the end, the wood can be given a beautiful texture so that the structure looks as impressive and unusual as possible in the interior. To do this, you can use a grinding machine. When all the parts have been processed, you can start assembling.

The barrel itself is placed at the base, a tabletop is attached to it and to the legs. Thus, a convenient and practical design should be obtained. It will be possible to store small things in the same container. Such furniture can perfectly fit into various types of interiors.
