It will take no more than an hour to replace the cuff (O-ring) of the hatch (door) of the Indesit washing machine, while you need to open the hatch and prepare a minimum of tools. The main thing is to turn off the power, and follow the instructions exactly. And the detailed steps for removing a failed element, installing a new one and preventive measures are described below.

An O-ring in the washing machine connects the drum to the front wall. This element serves to protect electrical parts from the ingress of liquids and foam. When the cuff loses its tightness, it causes a leak, which can provoke negative consequences, including flooding the apartment (and, along the way, neighbors). Timely detection of the defect and replacement of the seal will save you from many troubles.

There are not very many reasons why the O-ring stops performing its duties. Moreover, the main share is manifested when the rules for the use of household appliances are not followed.

The key ones are:

• mechanical destruction by solid objects;
• large vibration of the drum during the spinning process;
• exposure to aggressive substances;
• mold formation on rubber;
• careless loading of dirty or removing already washed laundry;
• natural wear and tear.

Object damage occurs when the typewriter often removes dirt from rough things, for example, sneakers, items with a zipper, and so on. Metal (nails, coins, keys) and plastic objects that have turned out to be in the drum through the carelessness of users are also capable of provoking the appearance of significant damage to the rubber.

The drum of the washing machine may vibrate violently if the unit is installed incorrectly. Consequently, the O-ring attached to it suffers. The use of bleaching agents often and in high concentrations leads to roughness of the rubber. And the loss of plasticity, as we know, threatens the rapid appearance of defects.

The alkalis and acids used to clean the machine also affect, again, if they are used illiterately.

Mold are microscopic fungi that exist in colonies. By settling on soft rubber, these tiny creatures can sprout deeper into mycelium. With intense lesions, spots emitting a bad stench cannot be removed by anything. In such a situation, only replacement of the seal with a new one.

The washing machine is short-lived. Even when it is handled with extreme care, the elements over time are triggered. The cuff is no exception.

A damaged sunroof o-ring is not a death sentence for a washing machine. On the contrary, such a repair will be much cheaper than replacing a failed electronics or control device. And, in fact, any owner of the Indesit brand is capable of dismantling the cuff on his own and installing a new one.

First of all, you need to prepare for rotation: buy a new seal, identical to the damaged one. Then we worry about personal safety - we disconnect the unit from the mains and wipe the case dry. Then we start dismantling.

1. We remove the fastening clamps. When the clamps are made of plastic, then, holding the mating point of the 2 latches, pull towards ourselves. For iron rims, unscrew the screw or pick up the spring with a straight screwdriver.
2. Carefully pull out the front part of the O-ring.
3. We find the mounting mark showing the correct location of the seal to the washing machine drum (usually the mark is a triangular ledge).
4. Mark with a marker counter mark on the body.
5. We pull the cuff towards ourselves and take it out of the recess.

After removing the old O-ring, do not rush and install a new one. It is necessary to thoroughly clean the lip under the cuff from scale, dirt and residues of detergents.

• as we already know, there is a triangular protrusion on top, which, when installed, is joined with the drum mark;
• the lower reference points can be not only marks, but also technological holes.

The rotation of the O-ring on the Indesit washing machine starts from the top, the protrusion must be aligned with the mark. Holding the upper part, we set the O-ring inward. Then, starting from the top and moving along the contour in an arbitrary direction, we completely put the inner edge of the seal on the drum of the washing machine.

After attaching the inner part of the O-ring to the drum you should carefully check the coincidence of labels... If during installation there was a displacement of them, then it is necessary to dismantle the seal, then re-install.

Then we switch to installing the clamp. This stage is the most difficult in replacing the seal. For convenience, its outer edge must be wrapped inward. Disconnect the door lock by unscrewing 2 screws.

A screwdriver is inserted into the hole for the blocker, a spring clamp is hooked onto it. This is necessary so that when the clamp is tightened onto the O-ring, it does not jump off and is fixed.

The clamp is tensioned along the contour in an arbitrary direction, both above and below. When tightening, you should always monitor the position of the screwdriver, especially when the work is carried out independently, without an assistant. Insofar as in the event of a loosening of the tension or other sudden movements, the screwdriver can move to the side, and the spring will break off from it.

When the spring clamp is fully put on and sits in the seat of the cuff, it is necessary to slowly pull the screwdriver out from under the clamp.

Then you need to feel with your hands the entire spring clamp along the contour and make sure that it fits correctly everywhere in the socket, and the edges of the O-ring are clearly adjacent to the drum and are not jammed. Loose clamping needs to be corrected.

And also at this stage it is necessary to test the tightness of the connection between the seal and the drum:

• pour water into the drum with a ladle, but in such a way that it does not pour out of it;
• if there is no penetration, then the clamp is installed correctly;
• if there are leaks, then determine the place where the tightness is broken, pour out the water, eliminate the defect, again check the tightness.

Before securing the outer edge of the rubber cuff, install the door lock back and secure it with two screws. The leading edge of the seal is configured to bend at the edge of the opening in the front wall of the machine. Having folded it, it is necessary to put it on the body of the machine, and so on - along the entire contour.

When the cuff is finally put on, it is necessary to examine and feel it in order to fill it completely.

The last stage is the installation of the external spring clamp. This can be done in two ways:

1. the spring is taken with two hands, stretched in different directions, recessed into the recess and by moving the hands farther from the clamp, it is put on until it is fully seated;
2. one end of the clamp is fixed, and stretching is made only in one direction and gradually along the contour fits into the recess.

They are pretty straightforward. Wipe the cuff after every wash. Close the hatch loosely so that the seal does not "suffocate". Do not use abrasives or hard sponges. Run the car dry with a vinegar solution every six months.
