Indesit washing machine pump repair: how to remove, clean and replace?

Automatic washing machines perform a full working cycle, including a set of water, heating it, washing clothes, rinsing, spinning and draining the waste liquid. 3. The drainage system is mounted on a "volute", which is a distributor.

5. The design of the drain system also includes a grid filter. Water from the tank, going to the pump, passes through this filter, which retains large and small debris. The filter protects the pump from damage that could result from foreign objects entering its structure.

1. During the operation of the heating element, scale forms, the amount of which increases from an increase in water hardness. If you do not use special softeners, then a large amount of hard scale forms on the heating element, which can get into the pump and lead to its breakdown.

2. When washing heavily soiled things large amounts of sand, dirt, small stones and other debris enter the pump, rendering it inoperative.

3. The wrong choice of detergents or the use of a large amount of them. In such situations, the powder dissolves poorly and is washed out together with water, settling on the impeller and internal structures in the form of a deposit, which greatly complicates the operation of the drain mechanism.

4. Natural wear and tear, from which no mechanism is insured. The service life of the pump can be shortened by excessive loads that it experiences during operation.

To finally make sure that the pump is malfunctioning, you need to check its performance. To do this, you will need to prepare some tools:

• multimeter;

• screwdriwer set;

• pliers;

• awl.

When everything is at hand, you can start checking the status of the pump. To do this, you need to know where it is and how you can get to it.

To get to it, you need to perform simple steps:

• remove the lower protective strip, which is attached with plastic latches;

• we put a rag under the machine, since there will definitely be water in the system, which will pour out of the machine;

• now you need to open the lid by unscrewing;

• we take out the filter and clean it of small parts and debris; in some cases, already at this stage it is possible to restore the pump's performance;

• we lay the machine on one side and unscrew the fasteners holding the pump;

• turn off the electrical wires and disconnect the hoses from the pump, which will allow you to remove it from the machine;

• first of all, we check the motor winding with a tester in order to identify breaks (normal resistance is in the range from 150 to 300 ohms;

• disassemble the pump, remove the motor and rotor from the stator;

• we carry out their visual inspection and check with a tester.

Cleaning the drain pump is easy to do with your own hands. To do this, you do not need to have deep knowledge of the structure of the washing machine and its working units.

That's why all insides are thoroughly washed. You also need to fix the oil seal on the rotor axis. Grease is restored on the bearing, for this you can use lithol or graphite lubricant.

It remains to assemble the pump in the reverse order. In this case, it is necessary to lubricate all joints and joints with plumbing sealant. This will prevent water leakage and pump leakage throughout the entire period of operation.

Don't rush to change your pump - in some cases, it can be brought back to life by performing simple repairs. A common cause of pump failure is the impeller. This part can be twisted with force, which is already an abnormal situation. At the same time, the pump will make noise, but will not be able to drain the water. The cost of the impeller is more than affordable and certainly cheaper than buying a new pump.

Waste gaskets are another common problem with drain pumps. They are sure to change if there is even the slightest hint of wear and tear. You also need to examine all the internal parts of the pump, including the pulley. All defective parts are replaced with new ones.

If the pump cannot be repaired, then it will have to be replaced with a new one. It is important to choose an identical model. Only in this case can we hope for a stable and correct operation of the machine. If you cannot find a similar pump, then you will have to select similar models from the list of interchangeable ones. There are a number of important parameters to consider here:

• matching connectors for connection;

• connection of hoses, which, if urgently needed, can be shortened or put longer;

• the location of the mountings must be exactly the same as the original, otherwise the new pump will not be able to mount properly.

To prolong the life of the drain system, in particular the pump, it is necessary to adhere to simple rules of prevention:

• for washing, means are selected that are intended for automatic washing machines;

• the amount of powder should not exceed the recommended level; for washing heavily soiled items, it is better to turn on the soaking mode;

• things can be washed in special nets;

• in front of the inlet hose, there must be a coarse filter in the form of a mesh, which must be periodically cleaned;

• the drain filter should be cleaned every three months, and with frequent use of the washing machine, the frequency is reduced to one month;

• things before loading should be checked for small parts in the pockets;

• Too dirty items must be rinsed beforehand to remove dirt, sand and small stones.
