Meaning and elimination of error E10 on the display of the Electrolux washing machine
An error with the E10 code is usually found in Electrolux brand washing machines at the most unexpected moment for this - right in the middle of the wash cycle. In this case, not only the working cycle is suspended, but also the hatch door is blocked, and it becomes impossible to get the laundry. We will try to figure out the reasons for the appearance of such a malfunction and give recommendations on how to correct the situation.
What means?
Error code E10 on the electronic display of the Electrolux CM may appear both during the initial filling of the drum and during the wash. It happens that the tank of the device is filled with water for a long time, and then the E10 indicator lights up and all the collected water begins to drain. It also happens otherwise - the user hears that water is being drawn, but through the glass of the hatch it is noticeable that the tank remains practically empty, the wash does not start, and after a few minutes information about the error is displayed.
A less common situation is when, when rinsing, you hear the noise of water in the tank, the wash is in operation, but the program is paused from time to time, and the same ill-fated code appears on the monitor. The manual for the washing machine of this brand gives a decoding of this error - complete lack of water or insufficient supply. This wording describes the situation, but, unfortunately, does not provide specific information about what caused the malfunction.
Possible reasons
In practice, there are many reasons that can lead to the occurrence of the E10 error. The CM can fix the information code on the monitor in the following cases:
- in the absence of water in the general household water supply system, in other words, cold water supply is disconnected;
- if the water intake hose is damaged;
- in case of failure of the filling valve;
- in case of a pressure switch malfunction.
In some cases, there is a self-draining of water from the reservoir, while spontaneous leakage of water from the tank of the washing machine - it becomes the result of some serious internal breakdown. Some Electrolux machines of the latest models with an extensive coding base can clarify the reason for the suspension of the unit, indicating a specific failure in the operation of the entire system.
However, the overwhelming majority of the company's units do not have this option, so they are limited to the E10 information code. If the washing machine was unable to indicate a specific part that was out of order, then when carrying out repair work, you will have to keep in mind all of the above factors.
How to fix it?
You need to start repair work with the most elementary action. - make sure that cold water enters the system. This is easy to do - you just need to open the bathroom or sink faucet and see if water is flowing from it. If everything is okay then it's worth seeing the valve where the inlet hose is attached is not blocked - often the owners of the equipment forget to open it before turning on the machine.
The water pressure can also affect the output of the E10 error - it should not be too weak. A similar problem is often faced by the owners of summer cottages and country houses in the summer, when all neighbors massively turn on water during irrigation hours. The pressure is noticeably reduced, this can lead to freezing of the working CM.
If a filter is provided between the tap and the inlet hose, then you must carefully check it - it can become clogged with sand or other impurities contained in industrial water. A similar inspection must be tucked in and the trap grate, which is located in the area of the hose entrance to the CM. It is possible that the blockage is located directly in the hose - then it must be disconnected, carefully inspected and made sure it is passable, that is, check if it is leaking fluid.
Please note that any dirt plugs in the hose can only be removed under strong water pressure. The use of sharp wires and chemicals will compromise the integrity of the part.
Be sure to make sure that the collected liquid does not come out of the reservoir on its own.... To do this, you need to bend over to the running unit and listen. If you notice that water is gurgling in the drain, and after that the unit gives an error E10, and the machine stops working, it means that it is necessary to correct the situation and eliminate the self-draining. To begin with, they look at the condition of the drain hose, it is likely that it has twisted, jumped off, moved or is below the permissible level. In no case should it pass across the floor, it should be raised by 50-70 cm.
There should be a little air circulating in the hose, so do not dip it too deep into the drain.
If there is no technical possibility to install the machine in strict accordance with the rules, then it is worth additionally resorting to using a check valve, it will protect the machine from unauthorized draining. This part is quite inexpensive, while it can always be installed on your own.
If the drain is organized in accordance with the requirements, and the liquid enters the machine without hindrance, but the volume of the washing liquid is still insufficient, most likely the breakdown concerns internal elements - a water level sensor, an inlet valve or a pressure switch. It is difficult to diagnose a pressure switch without basic skills and knowledge. To do this, disconnect the SM from the electric current, turn off the tap that is responsible for supplying liquid to the tank and remove the top cover of the washing machine by unscrewing the screws holding it. After completing these steps, you will gain access to the sensor, then gently squeeze the clamp that holds it moving and disconnect the pressure hose.
To test the performance of the pressure switch, you need a tube of the same diameter as the sensor connection. It must be attached to the fitting and blown slightly. If the sensor is in good working order, then you will hear 1 or 3 clicks - they signal that the contacts have worked. After that, the pressure switch should be inspected for visible defects, if you notice dirt or debris inside the nozzle, then carefully rinse the part under running water.
A multimeter is usually used to check the functionality of the pressure switch. This device is set to resistance mode and its probes are placed on the sensor contacts - the readings on the device monitor should change. If they remain the same, then the element is defective - it needs to be completely replaced. Less often, the cause of the malfunction is the failure of the electronic module, the following signs indicate problems with it: water is being drawn into the tank, washing is in progress, but from time to time the unit stops and displays an error E10.
After turning off and then turning on the "Start" button, the program continues. This directly indicates problems with the electronics, they can be the result of improper factory assembly, unstable mains voltage parameters or physical wear and tear.
Such a breakdown is considered one of the most serious and requires the involvement of a repairman for washing machines.
