Samsung washing machine error 5E (SE): what does it mean and how to fix it?

Error 5E (aka SE) is quite common on Samsung washing machines, especially if not properly maintained. The decoding of this code does not give a detailed answer to the question of what exactly broke - the error simply determines the range of probable causes of the malfunction. Sometimes it happens that during washing, the operation of the washing machine pauses, and the display shows an error 5E or SE (in Diamond series machines and units manufactured before 2007, it corresponds to the E2 value). In devices without a monitor, a heating lamp of 40 degrees lights up and together with it the indicators of all modes begin to light up. It means that for one reason or another, the machine cannot drain the water from the tank.

This code can appear either during the wash itself or during the rinsing phase. - at the moment of spinning, its appearance is impossible. The fact is that when this kind of malfunction occurs, the unit is fully filled with water and carries out washing, but it does not come to draining. The machine makes several attempts to get rid of the used water, but to no avail, in this case the unit pauses its work and displays information about the error.

The reasons for the appearance of such a code can be very different, and in most cases you can fix the problem yourself, without the participation of the service center wizard.

During the washing process, the machine drains water from the tank using a pressure switch - a special device that determines the volume of liquid in the tank and its absence. If the drain does not occur, then there may be several reasons for this:

• blockage of sewer pipes;
• the filter is clogged (with coins, rubber bands and other objects);
• the drain hose is clogged or pinched;
• breakdown of the pump;
• damage to contacts, as well as their connections;
• filter malfunction;
• impeller defect.

If your washing machine in the middle of the cycle paused its work with a full tank of laundry and dirty water, and the error 5E was displayed on the monitor, then before taking any action, it is necessary to disconnect the equipment from the power source and drain all the water using the emergency hose. After that, you should empty the tank from the laundry and try to find the source of the problem. To do this, you must perform a certain sequence of actions.

Turn off the washing machine for 15-20 minutes to reboot the electronic module controller. If the error is the result of an accidental reset, then after reconnecting the machine will resume operation in standard mode.

There is a drain filter in the lower corner of the front of the machine, most often the reason for the lack of drainage is its clogging. This happens when small objects often end up in the car - beads, rubber bands, small coins. They accumulate near the filter and sooner or later block the flow of water. In order to eliminate the malfunction, it is necessary to unscrew the filter clockwise, remove and rinse under pressure.

Be prepared for a small amount of liquid to spill out of the opening. - this is completely normal, and if you have not previously emptied the tank, then a lot of water will pour out - put a bowl or other low but capacious container first. Otherwise, you run the risk of flooding the entire floor and even flooding the neighbors below. After cleaning the filter, put it back in, screw it on and start a second wash - in most cases, the error message disappears.

If an error occurs, be sure to inspect the siphon with which the hose is connected to the home sewer. Probably, the reason lies precisely in the latter. To do this, you need to disconnect the hose from it and lower it to another place, for example, into a bathtub. If, when reconnecting, the machine will merge in normal mode, then the malfunction is external, and you will have to start cleaning the pipes. It is best to seek help from a plumber who can clean the pipes quickly and professionally.

If you do not have time for this, then you can try to cope with the problem by means of "Mole" or "Tiret turbo"... If aggressive liquids are ineffective, then you can try a special steel wire with a hook at the end - it helps to remove even the most severe blockage. • Broken pump - this is a common malfunction, it occurs in 9 cases out of 10. In this case, the pumping out pump fails - to correct the situation, it is necessary to replace the pump.
• Failure of the controller ensuring the operation of the device - in this case, depending on the severity of the situation, it is necessary either to replace the failed parts by soldering, or to completely update the entire control module.

• Damage to the electrical wiring in the contact area of ​​the drain pump and the controller... Usually it becomes the result of mechanical damage, it can be caused by the influence of pets or pests, as well as breakage when moving the unit.
