Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine self-cleaning: what is it and how to start it?
To prevent premature breakdown of the washing machine, it must be cleaned periodically. Hotpoint-Ariston household appliances have the option of automatic cleaning. In order to activate this mode, you must perform certain actions. Not everyone knows what to do, and in the instructions this moment may be missed.
What is self-cleaning for?
During operation, the washing machine gradually begins to clog up. Normal functioning is impeded not only by small debris falling from clothes, but also by scale. All this can harm the car, which ultimately lead to its breakdown. To prevent this from happening, the Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine has an auto-cleaning function.
Of course, the cleaning procedure will need to be carried out “at idle speed”. That is, there should be no laundry in the tub at this moment. Otherwise, some things may be damaged by the cleaning agent, and the procedure itself will not be entirely correct.
How is it indicated?
There is no special label for this function on the taskbar. To activate this program, you must simultaneously press and hold two buttons for a few seconds:
- "quick wash";
- "Re-rinse".
If the washing machine is functioning normally, it should switch to self-cleaning mode. In this case, the display of household appliances should show the icons AUT, UEO, and then EOC.
How to turn on?
It is quite easy to activate the self-cleaning program. To do this, you need to do the following.
- Remove laundry from the drum, if any.
- Open the tap through which water flows into the washing machine.
- Open the powder container.
- Remove the detergent tray from the receptacle - this is necessary so that the machine picks up the cleaning agent more thoroughly.
- Pour Calgon or other similar product into the powder receptacle.
An important point! Before adding a cleaning agent, carefully read the instructions on the packaging. Insufficient amount of the product can lead to the fact that the elements are not cleaned sufficiently. If you add too much, it will be difficult to wash it.
These are only preparatory measures. Next, you need to start the auto-cleaning mode. To do this, you must hold down the "quick wash" and "extra rinse" buttons, as mentioned above. On the screen, the labels corresponding to this mode will begin to be displayed one after another.
If everything is done correctly, the car will emit a characteristic "squeak" and the hatch will be blocked. Next, water will be collected and, accordingly, the drum and other parts of the machine will be cleaned. This procedure takes only a few minutes in time.
Do not be surprised if, during the cleaning process, the water inside the machine turns out to be dirty yellow or even gray. In advanced cases, the presence of pieces of dirt (they have a fluid-like consistency, similar to clots of silt), as well as individual pieces of scale, is possible.
If the water is too dirty after the first cleaning, you may need to repeat the procedure. To do this, you need to perform the above steps again. It is necessary to turn on the self-cleaning mode periodically, for example, once every several months. (The frequency directly depends on the frequency of use of the washing machine for its intended purpose). But don't overdo it. First, excessive cleaning will not work. And secondly, the cleanser is expensive, in addition, additional water consumption awaits you.
Don't be afraid to ruin your washing machine. The auto-cleaning mode will do absolutely no harm. Those who have already started the automatic cleaning mode speak about the results in a positive way. Users note the ease of inclusion and excellent results, after which the washing process becomes more thorough.
