Why did the E16 error appear on the display of the Candy washing machine and how to fix it?

Candy washing machines have always been distinguished by truly Italian quality, in most models a self-diagnosis option is built into the control module, in case of a breakdown, it determines the cause and gives a signal about the malfunction. If the SM turns on, but the wash cycle does not start, and the E16 code appears on the display, then you are dealing with a rather rare breakdown. Let's dwell on its description and the reasons that cause it.

Users of the Candy washing machine face the E16 error in the following cases:

• after selecting the working program and starting the system, water is not drawn, and the washing equipment freezes;
• during washing, 7-10 minutes after starting - in this case, the machine takes water, but does not heat it up;
• immediately after turning on the equipment, the machine gives an error and knocks out an RCD or an automatic machine.

In all these cases, a code with the symbols E16 appears on the display. Sometimes it can be combined with codes E03 and E05 - then all three values ​​are displayed alternately. Often with error E16 collides with CM Candy with vertical loading, the error is deciphered as "short circuit in the heating element circuit". • the heating element burned out due to the appearance of a large amount of scale or as a result of a short circuit;
• the contacts oxidized or the wiring burned out - this leads to the fact that power does not reach the heating element;
• there was a breakdown of the triac of the control board, which ensures the operation of the heating element.

If the washing appliance does not have a screen, then the technician indicates the presence of a problem through a blinking cycle - the LEDs will light up 16 times, then a pause follows, and then 16 blinks are repeated. Depending on the specific model, the following may blink:

• the "90" indicator is the leftmost button in the countdown time system in combination with the "intensive wash" indicator - this combination is typical for the Candy Grand CM series;
• an indicator with a snowflake, which implies the option of "washing with cold water" - this signal is given by machines of the Holiday and Aquamatic series;
• "Intensive wash" light in tandem with the top light of the countdown indicators (usually the Start button) - this indication is typical for Candy Smart appliances.

If you could not count the number of flashes of the indicator light, then in order to determine the cause of the breakdown, you need to restart the equipment - it will repeat all the light signals. It is important to know that the operation of equipment with an E16 error can be extremely dangerous for the life and value of property.

Various factors can cause the E16 to malfunction.

• Heating element malfunction - in this case, the main heating element fails.As a result, a breakdown to the case or a short circuit appears.
• Failure of the control module in the overwhelming majority of cases, it is associated with the breakdown of those parts of the board that are responsible for heating the water, or the firmware may "fly off".
• Damaged wiring - a malfunction of the wiring or structural elements in the heating element operation circuit often leads to an electric current leakage to the case or to a short circuit. As a result, the system gives an error E16 on the display. Usually, such a malfunction is the result of strong vibration during washing. In private houses, rodents are often the cause of damage to the wiring, which gnaw through the cable.

In order to correct the error with the E16 coding in CM Candy, first of all, it is necessary to check the operability of the heating element and the electrical communications suitable for it. To do this, you will have to open the case and carefully inspect the element of interest visually, and then check its condition with a special measuring device - a multimeter. To do this, you will have to follow these steps.

• Disconnect the washing machine from the water supply system, as well as the power supply and sewerage system, and then pull out the unit so that it stands on its right side.
• Unscrew the self-tapping screws holding the side wall of the equipment, and then remove it to the side.
• Near the large pulley at the bottom of the tank, you can see the contacts of the heating element, a bundle of wires leads to them. In this position, it is inconvenient to work with the heating element, since the drive belt will interfere - it must be pulled off the pulleys with a quick, confident movement.
• Be sure to take a photo of the location of the wires, otherwise you may later forget how to connect them back.
• Remove the wires and carefully inspect them for integrity, as well as the presence of oxide and melting.
• Measure the resistance of the heating element with multimeters.
• Pull out the faulty heating document and place a worker in its place.
• Assemble the SMA back and connect all the necessary communications.
