Choosing anti-vibration gloves
Vibration is a formidable enemy of human health. It is impossible to completely exclude its appearance in everyday life and technology (and will never be possible). However, knowing how to choose anti-vibration gloves can minimize the risk.
Features and scope
Modern anti-vibration gloves are excellent personal protective equipment. Of course, it will not be possible to completely extinguish the fluctuations. But you can reduce them to a safe level. Special accessories are used when working with the following tools:
- perforators;
- electric drills;
- jackhammers;
- pneumatic and hydraulic equipment;
- drill hammers;
- sampling mechanized systems.
On this, of course, the characteristics of anti-vibration gloves do not end there. Advanced specimens can protect hands from cold, moisture, contact with petroleum products and industrial oils. There are trimmer (lawnmower), car and bicycle versions of gloves, as well as for:
- housing and communal services;
- construction;
- metalworking;
- metal melting;
- mechanical engineering;
- agricultural work;
- logging and woodworking enterprises;
- construction, major repairs.
According to GOST, anti-vibration PPE must have a breaking strength of at least 250 Newtons. Typical operating temperature range is -15 to + 45 degrees. An increase in vibration protection is achieved by equipping with gaskets, which act as auxiliary damping elements. Additionally standardized:
- tear resistance;
- piercing strength;
- number of cycles to rupture (average);
- the percentage of reduction in the intensity of low-frequency, medium-frequency and high-frequency vibrations;
- vibration-absorbing base and outer cover material.
Correctly selected and correctly used gloves not only allow to maintain the performance of joints and musculoskeletal system longer. They reduce fatigue, which is very important for workers in a wide variety of fields.
The main absorbent materials are rubber, rubber and combinations thereof. The vibration damping effect is achieved due to the special structure of such substances at the micro level.
Popular models
Vibration damping Gward Argo gloves... They are made from selected natural cowhide leather. Polyurethane foam is used as a filler. Vibration resistance category - 2A / 2B. An elastic band of increased elasticity is used for the manufacture of cuffs.
Other parameters:
- length - 0.255 m;
- sizes - 9-11;
- weight of a pair of mittens - 0.125 kg;
- anti-vibration resistance from 8 to 1000 Hz at 200 Newtons (option A);
- anti-vibration resistance from 16 to 1000 Hz at 100 newtons (option B);
- additional pads to protect nails;
- covering palms with high quality goat split;
- Velcro cuffs.
The manufacturer promises increased comfort when using your fingers and at the same time an excellent level of sensitivity. The shape of the inserts is designed in such a way that the intensity of the impact is further reduced. The product has been designed to work consistently and successfully with a wide variety of gasoline, pneumatic and electrified tools. Gward Argo passed a full cycle of testing in accordance with Russian certification requirements. The test took place in a laboratory whose status was confirmed by the Federal Accreditation Agency.
The X-Marina model is also popular. The designers have provided a leather handheld. Reinforced vibration-resistant inserts are placed in the finger and palmar areas. The segmented placement of vibration-damping parts is carefully thought out and guarantees an excellent grip without significant efforts. The LP line uses Kevlar, as well as a Velcro fastener.
Jeta Safety JAV02 - a product made of strong synthetic leather. In the official description, the increased resistance to mechanical wear is especially noted. The outer surface is made of a combination of lycra and polyamide. The model is suitable for general mechanical work and for builders. Black and red copies are provided for the choice of users.
Vibroton productsis, as the official description suggests, optimized to resist low and medium frequency vibrations. Or rather, no more than 125 Hz. However, this is quite enough for working with jackhammers, concrete mixers, household and industrial-grade drilling equipment. It is curious that for the manufacture of Vibroton gloves, a reinforced version of the tarpaulin is used. Inside there is a Stepor gasket 6 mm thick, which enhances vibration damping; soft flannel is in direct contact with the skin.
Vibrostat company stands out for its even more advanced and varied assortment. It focuses on mastering innovative technologies in vibration protection. So, "Vibrostat-01" is stitched with the strongest Kevlar thread. The weight of a pair of gloves in a package can be 0.5-0.545 kg. You can use them to work with a wide variety of tools.
The well-designed glove vents are also worth noting.
In conclusion, it is worth telling about Tegera 9180... To increase protection, this model uses the patented Vibrothan material. The designers paid attention to the anatomical cutting of the glove fingers. Important: the construction does not even contain trace amounts of chromium. After prolonged use, the degree of protection and sensitivity should not decrease.
How to choose?
There are many dozens of models of anti-vibration gloves, and it is impossible to tell about everything in principle. But you can, however, choose a model that suits you according to a number of criteria.
The most important of these is thickness. No matter what they say about innovative materials and breakthrough solutions, only a thick layer of any material can reliably protect your hands. Very thin gloves will satisfy drivers, but mixing concrete in them or drilling metal for a whole shift in a row will be very uncomfortable. But dense, heavy products guarantee better protection, but at the cost of deteriorating tactile characteristics.
For subtle manipulations with light instruments, models are needed where the thumb and middle fingers are open. Some cyclists prefer models with fully open toes. To work in a warm place or in summer, it is imperative to take into account the presence of micropores and ventilation ducts. Experience shows that it is much less comfortable without them.
There are also modifications of gloves with a hydrophobic layer that are suitable for conditions of high humidity or direct constant contact with water.
