Split systems Haier HEC series: characteristics, models and operation

In recent years, the air temperature in our latitudes has been increasing more and more in summer, which is primarily associated with such a process as global warming. And traditional fans no longer save, which is why you have to use air conditioners or split systems. They have good characteristics and can provide coolness in the house in a short time, making your stay as comfortable as possible. And one of the manufacturers of such equipment is the well-known company Haier, which makes HEC series air conditioners.

If we talk about the features of the model range of HEC air conditioners, then it does not differ in any serious variety. Frankly, this is Haier's improved budgetary split series. HEC devices, which have the designation R2 in the name, refer to split systems with simple compressor units.

The wall part has a traditional look. The set of such HEC systems usually includes:

• outdoor module that is white;
• indoor unit;
• remote control with a pair of batteries;
• installation accessories;
• instruction manual for the device;
• warranty card.

If we talk about the performance of the indoor unit, then, as a rule, it is as laconic as possible. This makes it suitable for various interior styles. Air inlets are located at the top of the unit, and air outlets are at the bottom.

Vertical and horizontal louvers are designed for convenient regulation of the air flow direction. There is an air filter under the front panel. It is removable and provides partial cleaning of the air flow. It needs to be washed regularly to remove dust and dirt.

The location of the information display is quite convenient. It is usually found at the bottom of the block on the right. A number of indicator lights can also be found here:

• Power Supply - Lights up green when the device is active;
• the "timer" mode - if it is active, it lights up orange;
• work - it lights up if the device is working.

An infrared receiver is located next to the screen - when it is triggered, a sound signal is generated. And a little higher on the right is the emergency shutdown button.

The outdoor unit is made of metal and is quite compact. Its mass is just under 25 kilograms. An outlet type grille can be found in front, and an air inlet is located on the side.

On the right of such models, the interconnect wire and the refrigerant circuit pipe are connected.

As already mentioned, the model range of this series does not differ in variety. The shape and color of such air conditioners can be called standard because of the white indoor unit, which has somewhat rounded edges. The outdoor unit does not differ in any particularly original design, but thanks to the competent layout it is as reliable as possible.

The choice of model should be made based on the scope of application: for an office, an apartment, or some kind of technical or office space.

To date, the models with the index 03 in the name are the newest. There are several sub-series, each with specific features.

• HDR R. This is the most affordable category of split systems. To optimize the control of operation, there are 6 modes here, depending on the external parameters in the room: humidity, air temperature, and so on. There is no automation here, so all parameters are set manually.

• HNB, HNC and HNA R2. These lines are characterized by a large selection in terms of power, but structurally they have little differences not only among themselves, but also from the HDR R category. Their only significant advantage will be the presence of a better and more efficient air filter.

• DB. This is a line of split systems that have a fairly high power. The advantages of these particular options are the maximum possible savings in electrical energy consumption, as well as the minimum rates of refrigerant evaporation.

If we talk about specific models, then you should start with HEC-07HTD03 / R2. This split system has 4 operating modes: cooling, ventilation, heating and dehumidification. It is best to use this model in rooms with an area of ​​up to 20 sq. meters. Power consumption is 730 W in cooling mode and 635 W in heating mode. If we talk about the total power, then it in both modes is 2050 W. As for the noise during operation, for the indoor unit its level will be on average 32 dB, and for the external one - 52 dB. The refrigerant used here is type R410A, which is considered to be very efficient.

The model also has the functions of automatic selection of the operating mode, timer, automatic restart, night mode.

The next model to be mentioned is the HEC-12HNA03 / R2. This split system also has 4 operating modes: ventilation, heating, dehumidification, cooling. The recommended floor space for her work is 35 square meters. Power in cooling mode is 3500 W, and in heating mode - 3800 W. If we talk about the noise level, then for the indoor unit it is 30 dB, and for the external one - about 50 dB. Here, as in the previous model, the refrigerant type R410A is used.

As for the functionality of the model, there is an automatic selection of the operating mode, automatic restart, timer and night mode. In addition, there is a remote control. The indoor unit is also equipped with a special display. Separately, it should be said that this is a 2019 model and is not yet on sale everywhere.

Another model that needs attention is the HEC-09HTC03 / R2-K. This split system can work in both heating and cooling modes. The area it serves is 20 square meters. It can generate a maximum air flow of 8 cubic meters per minute. It also uses R410A refrigerant. Separately, it should be said that there is a remote control here, and a special remote control is included in the kit. There are also functions of night mode and automatic switching on and off of the air conditioner. Cooled air can be supplied in two modes: turbo and sleep. The features of this model are the ability to adjust the strength and direction of the air flow.

If we talk about the noise level of this model, then for the indoor unit it is 35 dB, and for the external one - 52 dB. The power consumption in cooling mode will be 885 W here, and in heating mode - 747 W.

In general, they do not differ from the requirements that apply to similar split systems from other manufacturers. A little more detail should be said about their modes of operation.

• Cooling. This mode lowers the temperature of the air masses in the room. There is a special sensor in the indoor unit that monitors temperature changes and sends a signal to the compressor unit. The fan speed can also be changed within this function.
• Heating. This function will be interesting, since a split-system heat pump consumes significantly less electricity compared to a conventional heater.
• Ventilation. This mode drives air through the split indoor unit and filters it. This does not provoke changes in the temperature regime in the room - it is simply recirculated without the inflow and removal of air masses.
• Dehumidification. Excessive moisture in the room is removed.

Many people will be interested in the Auto mode. If it is active, then the split system automatically turns on either cooling or heating. That is, the air conditioner independently maintains the specified settings.

On the remote control in some models, you can find a special key called Health. It activates the "Healthy climate" option. Its essence is in the removal of various unpleasant odors and enhanced purification of air masses. But, as mentioned, this option is not present in every model.

The restart function allows you to resume the operation of the device using the previously saved settings. In case of an emergency disconnection from the mains, the device memorizes the necessary parameters. After the supply of current is restored to the device, it will adjust to the data that was before the failure.

The indicator light allows you to determine the presence of a breakdown during self-diagnosis and will let the user know about it.

It should also tell a little about the functions of the various keys that are present on the remote control of the device. The number may vary depending on the configuration of the model. We will cover the most common ones:

• Cool - cooling;
• Heat - heating;
• Dry - dehumidification of air;
• Temp - setting the required temperature level;
• Swing - switching the split system to auto mode;
• Timer - setting the timer to turn on or off;
• Health - setting the "Healthy climate" function;
• Lock - blocking the remote control;
• Reset - reset the settings to the factory values;
• Fan - change the rotational speed of the cooler;
• Light - panel illumination of the indication of the indoor module.

If we talk about the reviews about the split systems of the HEC line, then for the most part they are positive. Users note the excellent technical characteristics of all HEC models, high power and competent implementation of the functions of heating and cooling rooms. The high efficiency of the R410 refrigerant is also noted, which is used in these split systems.

There are, of course, negative reviews, but their number is relatively small and is within the margin of error when users are faced with a defect that every manufacturer has.
