Snow blowers "Caliber": varieties and rules of operation
Removing large amounts of snow from a large area is hard work. Snowdrifts not removed in time are not only unaesthetic, but also impede the movement of vehicles and people, and after warming they can cause a flood. Therefore, it is worth considering the varieties of Kalibr snow blowers and the basic rules for their operation.
Peculiarities
Snowblowers "Kalibr" are produced by the company of the same name from Moscow, established in 2001. At the same time, most of the company's production facilities are located in China. After assembly, each product undergoes a multi-stage quality control with the participation of Russian specialists.
A great advantage of the company is an extensive network of official representative offices and service centers, which are open in almost all regional centers and large cities of Russia.
The company produces mainly manual self-propelled two-wheeled models of snow blowers with a gasoline engine, operating on the principle of a walk-behind tractor. Also, the company's range of products included several non-self-propelled electric models for a long time, but as of the winter of 2018, most of them have been removed from production, except for the SNBE-1700 model. All gasoline models are equipped with fairly wide wheels with high-quality tread, which provides a good level of grip on any surface to be cleaned.
Almost all models of Kalibr snow blowers are equipped with a transmission that allows you to travel at one of several speeds. All of them are equipped with headlights, which allows cleaning work at night. All models are equipped with an auger made of durable steel grades, which allows you to remove not only freshly fallen, but also packed snow, and even ice. Also, a brush attachment can be installed on the device. The outlet chute is made adjustable, which allows you to set the direction and distance of discharge of the removed snow.
Petrol snow blowers
The company manufactures units of various capacities, intended both for use in everyday life and as part of a fleet of public utilities. The current model range of gasoline equipment includes several products.
- SNUB -6.5 / 570 - a budget model with a 168F engine with a capacity of 6.5 "horses" and a manual starter. Has 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds. The width of the surface to be cleaned is 570 mm. Snow throwing range - up to 11 m.
- SNUB-6.5 / 560/405 - a slightly modified previous model, characterized by the presence of a contactless electronic magneto, a worm-drive auger and a working width of 560 mm with a height of 405 mm.
- SNUB-6.5 / 535/510 - differs from the previous version in the increased grip height up to 510 mm and its width of 535 mm, which makes it possible to use this device for cleaning relatively tall snowdrifts.
- SNUB-6.5 / 620EPF - differs in the installation of the 168 FE engine, which uses an electric rather than a manual starter. The capture width of this modification is already 620 mm, and the maximum throwing distance reaches 12 m, which makes it possible to recommend the device for cleaning surfaces of a relatively large area.
- SNUB-9 / 720EPF - this model is equipped with a 9 hp engine. with., in which an electric starter is installed. The combination of this power with a 720 mm working width makes this device indispensable for clearing parks, yards, roads and other large areas.
- SNUB-11 / 720EPF - the most powerful of the models of snowblowers "Caliber" with an engine of 11 liters. with. Thanks to such a motor and 720 mm working width, this device can be recommended for purchase by utilities and owners of large land plots.
Previously, the SNUB 9.0 / 62 UNIT model was produced with a 9 liter engine. with. and only 1 speed forward and backward, but now it is discontinued.
The common disadvantages of all gasoline models are high vibration levels and the presence of exhaust gases, the outlet of which is not far enough away from the operator. The weight of all models is about 100 kg.
Electric models
As of the winter of 2018, the range of electric snowblowers from Kalibr has only one model, namely SNBE-1700. This device is powered by a 220 V household network and consumes 1.7 kW of power. It differs from gasoline-powered machines in a smaller grip width (only 460 mm), a short snow throwing range (only 8 m) and the need to use muscle strength for movement. But this electric car weighs only 14 kg and is almost silent, and it costs almost 3 times cheaper than the most budgetary gasoline model. Therefore, SNBE-1700 is a good choice for owners of small private houses.
Operation and maintenance tips
Before each use, visually inspect your machine and repair any obvious damage. After completing work with the snow blower, the auger and its rubber blades must be thoroughly cleaned of adhering snow. Do not turn off the engine of the machine immediately after cleaning - let it idle for a few minutes to melt the snow adhering to the parts. After turning off the engine, let the unit stand outside for a while, otherwise rust may appear.
Use only manufacturer approved replacement parts to repair your equipment. This is especially true of the wheel drive shaft: this part works under load, and poor-quality material is fraught with rupture during operation, which can lead to serious injury.
One of the most frequent breakdowns of both the Kalibr snowblowers and the products of other companies is the wear of the rubber coating of the friction ring. This is due to the fact that, unlike most walk-behind tractors, the gears on which are switched only when the engine is off, in snow blowers this can be done "hot". To replace the friction ring you need:
- purchase a new ring at a service center, indicating the model of your unit;
- drain fuel from the tank;
- dismantle the candle;
- remove the wheels and dismantle the pins from the stopper;
- disassemble the upper part of the checkpoint;
- disassemble the clutch and remove the support flange;
- find the damaged ring, dismantle it and install a new one in its place;
- reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly.
Another common problem is the breakage of the keys on which the augers are attached. This happens most often when the working part hits curbs, stones and other solid obstacles. Therefore, firstly, carefully monitor where you are driving your car, and secondly, you should always have a set of spare keys. To avoid breaking belts and breaking clutches, avoid slipping your machine or clearing packed snow at maximum speed.
The engine oil should be changed 5 hours after its first start, then after another 25 hours of operation. After that, the consumable will need to be replaced after every 50 hours of operation. It is easier to drain the oil after the unit has been idling for 5 minutes. After any repair work, the device must be checked first of all in idle mode. Never start removing snow immediately after repairing the unit.
