Is it possible to plant currants and raspberries nearby?

As you know, there is a concept of plant compatibility in a limited area. If the owner of the land plot decides where which fruit bushes will take their place, as well as with vegetables in the garden, it is better for him to take this compatibility into account.

On Russian household plots, crops such as raspberries and currants are very common. Both one berry and the other are just a storehouse of taste and benefit for humans.

So whether it is possible to plant both of them next to each other is by no means an idle question, given that the plants so different in their "physiology" will stay on the sites allotted for them for years.

If there is very little land, it is tempting to plant the two crops together. However, it should be borne in mind that raspberries are a shrub, the growth of which is very difficult to control. He has a powerful root system, rapidly capturing the territory both in breadth and in depth. Accordingly, raspberries absorb a lot of moisture.

Therefore, if you plant currants nearby, at least black, at least red, its yield will gradually decrease due to the fact that raspberries have taken the lion's share of water and nutrients.

If there is very little land, and the proximity of plants still cannot be avoided, it is better to plant raspberries next to an apple, pear or plum tree.

It is better to “define” honeysuckle, which is unpretentious in care, as a neighbor in the “land hostel” for currants. Yoshta, the "child" of currants and gooseberries, will get along well with her. This hybrid is very hardy, so next to the currants it will feel quite comfortable, without creating problems for the plant that has settled nearby.
