Characteristics and features of the choice of Ryobi screwdrivers
Various fasteners are very important in everyday life - bolts, nuts, screws. And of course the screws. Screwing them into a hard surface with Ryobi screwdrivers is much easier and more practical than using a screwdriver.
Peculiarities
A screwdriver in technical practice is usually called a type of hand-held power tool, which allows you to twist and pull back:
- screws;
- self-tapping screws;
- other types of fasteners with a screw thread.
Often on sale you can find the so-called screwdriver drill. But it's important to remember that a hybrid device is still basically a drill. It can handle a small amount of work, and even quite quickly. However, for systematic tightening or unscrewing of fasteners, it is necessary to choose a strictly specialized tool. For the selection of a specific model, torque is of particular importance.
General tips for choosing
This indicator, as it is defined in physics, expresses the intensity of rotation to which a certain body is subjected. The "body" here means the working part of the screwdriver. And already the speed of its twisting is directly related:
- with the strength of the material into which you can drive fasteners;
- the diameter of this fastener;
- its length.
But we must not forget that everything is good in moderation. For domestic purposes, the optimum torque is 10–30 Newton meters. Almost every task is successfully solved with the help of such equipment within an acceptable time frame. And if he does not dare, then he will need to call a professional. For the professionals themselves, there are screwdrivers with a torque of at least 100 Newton meters.
Such devices will easily insert a screw or self-tapping screw even into a very hard surface. But since both experienced builders and hobbyists alike are forced to work with a wide variety of materials, torque adjustment is a useful feature. Moreover, for different screws or self-tapping screws, it should not be the same.
The next important parameter is the speed at which the working nozzle rotates. At home, 500 rpm is enough. But if you need to use a machine for drilling, you need a pace of 1000 rpm. Since the screwdriver is often used in places where there is no electricity or it is unstable, many craftsmen prefer rechargeable models. Moreover, these devices allow you to "untie" from the sockets without using extension cords, which is very useful even in apartment buildings in a big city.
Batteries can be made on nickel-cadmium, lithium-ion and nickel-metal hydride element base. The vast majority of household screwdrivers are equipped with nickel-cadmium batteries. Due to the small number of duty cycles and the memory effect, they will have to be discharged and charged to 100%. Li-ion batteries do not have this disadvantage, but they are noticeably more expensive. The parameters of the current supplied by the battery deserve a separate discussion.
For domestic needs, devices with an electric capacity of a battery of at least 1.2 ampere-hours are acceptable. The power of the tool depends on the voltage. Therefore, for personal use, devices designed for 12 volts are chosen. Professional teams use 18 volt screwdrivers. In both cases, the presence of chargers in the delivery set is equally relevant.
Varieties of devices
Ryobi offers a wide variety of cordless screwdrivers. For example, the R 18 QS-0 percussion apparatus is suitable for professional use.The lithium-ion battery delivers a current of 18 V. The torque reaches 45 Newton meters, which makes it possible to drive fasteners even into concrete walls. And with rotational speeds of up to 3200 rpm (bumpless mode), you can save time.
For personal use, the Ryobi R12DD – LL13S is better suited. A modern battery without memory effect produces 1.3 ampere-hours of current with a voltage of 12 V. This combination of electrical characteristics makes it possible to provide a torque of 30 Newton-meters at a rotation speed of 1500 rpm. The device allows the use of cartridges with a diameter of 10 mm. An alternative is the very powerful Ryobi R18PDBL-0.
The 18 V battery provides 60 Newton meters of torque. Users can choose between conventional and hammer drilling modes. The twisting speed is 1700 revolutions. The screwdriver is designed for chucks with a diameter of 13 mm. Important: the battery is not included in the delivery set.
The R 14 DDE-LL15S is equipped with an LED headlamp. The designers chose to equip the keyless keyless chuck with a size of 13 mm. It is quite comfortable to operate the device. Switching to the required torque level is carried out using an electronic board. The screwdriver is capable of drilling various surfaces at a number of revolutions up to 1400; a reverse mode is provided.
