Peculiarities
Jewelry and jewelry boxes invariably attract the attention of adult ladies and little girls - without exception, the fair sex loves them. In addition, a stylish box often fulfills not only a practical function, but also becomes a beautiful and stylish piece of room decor.
Of course, you can always buy an interesting model in the store, but the handmade casket has many advantages:

- thick cardboard;
- trimming wallpaper;
- shoe box;
- candy packaging;
- Tetra Pak packaging;

- plastic bucket from mayonnaise.
As decor items, you can take buttons, lace, ribbons, beads, corrugated paper and any other elements that you can use to your liking. They will help make the casket truly unique.
Jewelry boxes can be made not only for yourself, but also as a gift, as well as as a source of additional income.
There are several interesting ideas on how to build and beautifully decorate a handmade chest with your own hands.
Manufacturing methods
From Tetra Pak packaging
Paper is a fairly thin material, so the box can be fragile. It is best to use cardboard, the best solution would be a bag of milk, cocktail or juice. To work you will need:
- two Tetra Pak packages;
- PVA glue;
- a sheet of thick cardboard;
- decor elements.
Step by step manufacturing.
- Cut the juice / milk carton into six equal parts - they will become sections of your chest.
- Place them next to each other, trace along the contour, and then, using these measurements, cut out the base and the lid from a sheet of cardboard, adding 2-3 mm from each edge.
- In the same way, make blanks for future sides, the height of which should correspond to the size of the sections.
- First, make the base of the box - for this, the sides need to be glued to the base.
- Now glue the prepared sections inside and fix with clothespins until dry.
- On the inside of the lid, glue a couple of fabric strips - they are needed to support the lid. The other end should be secured to one side of your box.
- Wait for the glue to dry and start decorating. To do this, the outer side of the box can be wrapped with colored paper, beautiful wallpaper, fragments of postcards or fabric, after which you need to stick a bow, beads, rhinestones, ribbons or lace (at your discretion).
Casket from the book
This is a rather unusual and entourage box. To make it you will need:
- thick old book;
- PVA glue;
- fabric flowers;
- simple pencil, thin brush;
- sharp knife.
Step-by-step instruction.
- Open the book in the middle, then with a simple pencil draw a rectangle on the sheet so as to leave a margin of 1.5 cm.
- Then, using a scalpel or a sharp knife, cut a hole along the scribbled lines so that its depth is sufficient to accommodate the jewelry.
- When you finish cutting the sheets, glue them together with PVA glue, press down with oppression and leave to dry.
- After the glue dries, you can decorate your jewelry box. It is best to decorate it in vintage style: coat it with varnish and decorate with lace, as well as ribbons and beads.
From a candy box
For the manufacture of functional and stylish chest you will need:
- candy box;
- wrapping paper;
- glue.
If you plan to take light-colored wrapping paper to decorate the box, you will first have to paint it with snow-white acrylic paint.
The sequence of actions is simple.
- Carefully glue the box with gift paper, while for the bottom and lid, take a thick sheet of paper and leave a margin so that there is something to bend inward. Tip: When cutting the paper to decorate the sides, make sure you take a piece of sufficient length - you need to glue all sides from the back and the outside at one time.
- To keep the corners nice and neat, glue the wrapping paper on the sides first, and then cut and gently fold the corners.
- Glue the inner surface of the lid and the bottom of the box with light thick paper.
- To get rid of air bubbles between the paper and the box, you need to dilute the PVA with water and apply the mixture to the bubbles with a soft brush, then gently wipe them with a cloth.
Your box is ready, all that remains is to decorate it to your liking.
Casket with drawers
Stylish chest with drawers can be built from cardboard and matchboxes. Of course, exceptionally small rings can fit into ordinary boxes, but if you buy fireplace or tourist matches, you can make a full-fledged exclusive box.
You will need:
- hard cardboard for frame decoration;
- beautiful buttons for making pens;
- wallpaper / fabric / adhesive film and other decorative materials.
The creation of the box will take very little time. The process description is below.
- Remove the layer of sulfur from the matchboxes and glue them together.
- Glue the boxes from the outside with a solid cardboard blank.
- Finish all external surfaces with cloth, wallpaper or film.
- Use the awl to secure the buttons.
If you wish, you can decorate the chest with beads, lace and ribbon bows.
Methods of registration
Retro style boxes look very nice. This decor is very easy to make.
- First you need to cover the entire surface of the box with white acrylic paint, then dry it with a hair dryer and leave to dry completely.
- Those places where you plan to arrange "scuffs" should be rubbed with a candle. Similarly, you need to process the corners.
- To create the effect of antiquity, the coating must be rubbed with emery.
- At the final stage, the patterns you like should be cut out of the decoupage napkins, fixed to the surface and smeared on top with a brush dipped in PVA.
- Dry the box and cover with clear varnish.
In general, the box can be decorated with absolutely any materials - old unused jewelry, beads, buttons or decorative stones. You can use ribbons and lace.
Show a little imagination and you will get something new and unusual. The most important thing is that the craft is done sincerely - from the bottom of my heart.
