Mirrored sliding doors in the interior
Recently, mirrors have been especially actively used as a decoration for various interiors. They are used to decorate not only walls, ceilings and wardrobes. More recently, mirrors have taken pride of place on door structures. Mirrored sliding doors in the interior can enliven the atmosphere and make the room more attractive, regardless of the style in which it is landscaped.
Advantages and disadvantages
Various objects, products, goods and things created by human hands cannot be absolutely perfect, without flaws. All of them, including the mirrored compartment doors, have their own advantages and disadvantages - positive and negative sides, on which the general impression of a particular product is formed. If there are more of the first, then the thing is considered good, if the second prevails, then they quickly forget about it.
Regarding mirrored doors, it can be noted that these creations are in no hurry to go into oblivion, and there are enough reasons for that in the form of many pluses.
The advantages of doors with mirrors include:
- the ability to optionally increase the area of \ u200b \ u200bthe room;
- admissibility of installation in openings of any size;
- increasing the threshold of illumination (a mirrored door located opposite a window or lighting fixture will add light to the room);
- the convenience of use;
- ease of care.
As for the negative side of using mirror systems, the whole picture is spoiled only by the high cost of such compartment doors and the complexity of their installation. Also, this design does not always suit the chosen interior.
Appointment
Each apartment / house owner, organizing the interior, wants to make it special, unique and unrepeatable. Increasingly, contemporaries for these purposes are trying to preserve free space as much as possible, visually make it larger. Nowadays, few people are engaged in loading a room with various pieces of furniture, additional accessories and textiles. Simplicity, freedom, independence are in fashion.
The latter criteria help to bring mirrored doors to life: they reflect in themselves what is around, thereby the products seem to continue the room, which is an indisputable advantage for rooms of small areas.
Such systems have found their application not only in the design of small apartments. They are often used in spacious country houses, as well as public buildings (restaurants, bars, cafes, boutiques, shops, beauty salons, etc.).
Mirrored sliding doors are successfully used in different rooms:
- Living room. To make the room where guests are received look wider, it is better to choose doors with a mirror on the entire canvas. The maximum width of such a product depends on the dimensions of the opening.
- Bedroom. In this room, mirrored doors fulfill an aesthetic function to a greater extent, especially if, in addition, they are decorated with prints, patterns or stained glass inserts.
- Bathroom. In this room, a door with mirror elements will help household members fully assess their appearance before leaving the house.
- In public places sliding mirror systems play the role of decoration, visually enlarge the space, and perform the main function of mirrors.
Material
Despite the apparent fragility, modern door designs with a mirror are safe to use, they will not break even if you slam the canvas hard.Such parameters are possible due to the fact that the mirror, which occupies most of the surface, is covered with a protective film at the factory. It can withstand any load and protects the surface from mechanical damage.
Even in case of accidental breakage, the mirror fragments will not fly to the sides and will not injure anyone.
Mirror door systems are made from a variety of materials:
- natural wood;
- Fiberboard;
- MDF;
- plastic;
- aluminum.
The mirrors themselves have differences. They can be made from natural glass mirrors or from pseudo-mirrors (a derivative of plastic). Also, all options have a different degree of toning.
There are three types of the latter:
- Conventional mirrors. They are produced by spraying amalgam (an alloy of silver and mercury) on one side.
- Tinted mirrors. Produced in two variations. In the first, the glass is tinted around the entire perimeter, in the second, an additional colored coating is used.
- Matt mirrors. The glass is sandblasted.
Finishing methods
The use of mirror elements in the creation of door designs gives designers endless possibilities for making any fantasy come true. Using different methods of decorating and combining them with each other, experts achieve amazing results. Frameless door systems with mirrors of different finishing methods come to the aid of the masters.
The main ways of decorating mirrors include:
- Surface matting. In production conditions, a film with a pattern created by plotter cutting is glued onto a glass plane of specified dimensions. Then the whole product is treated with a jet of air under pressure with an abrasive (more often - cleaned sand).
In those places where the glass is protected by a film, the surface will be glossy, and all open areas will be matte.
- Photo printing. Thanks to modern technologies, any image can be applied to the mirror surface. The drawing can be dull or translucent.
- Engraving. Any engraved mirror will decorate the room. Such an unusual pattern can be complemented by wide facets - decorative bevels applied along the entire perimeter of the mirror.
- Colored mirror. The combination of different types of mirrors in one fabric or combined doors from different materials in one interior will make the design of the room unique.
- Stained glass windows. Based on the chosen direction of the design of the room, stained-glass windows are monochrome, colored, mirrored.
In the interior
Despite the fact that interior mirrored sliding doors have a number of advantages, and, it would seem, are suitable for interiors of any style direction, the choice of finishing should be approached as carefully and carefully as possible.
Classic Provence-style design fits perfectly with sliding mirrored sheets. Such door systems in this direction can be decorated with ornamental patterns. Structures with stained-glass windows, canvases with mirrors decorated with engraving will look great in such an interior.
Modern interiors in the style of Art Nouveau, Contemporary, Hi-Tech, Art Deco will perfectly complement mirrored doors with different patterns of sandblasting processing techniques. Canvases with photo printing will also become a bright, memorable highlight. Drawing in these styles can be completely different - ornamental, plot, fantasy.
In some cases, a colored mirror can be a good decorative element.
Minimalism does not need a lot of accessories for decoration. It requires the utmost simplicity in everything. For such interiors, sliding frameless systems are relevant. When decorating mirrors, it is better to abandon prints and patterns, but you should pay attention to color options or fully frosted mirrors. Stained-glass windows are inappropriate in this case, like other techniques for decorating mirror surfaces.
