- oxygen, as a result of which an oxide film is formed on the metal, which is insensitive to moisture (oxidized coating);
- zinc compounds (galvanized: silver and gold options).
When installing sandwich panels or metal tiles, the appearance of the finished structure can easily be spoiled by fasteners that do not match the color with the main array. To prevent this from happening, painted self-tapping screws are used. For outdoor use, powder painting of self-tapping screws for metal is used.
Only the cap (round or made in the form of a hexagon with a flat base) is painted, as well as the upper part of the sealing washer. This type of paint application guarantees stable color retention when exposed to sunlight, frost, and precipitation. The main conditions are as follows:
- All actions related to painting should be carried out only in the fresh air, but away from open flames.
- Self-tapping screws are wiped with acetone or white spirit.
- A piece of expanded polystyrene is taken (insulation, similar to polystyrene, but more resistant to solvents). Self-tapping screws are inserted into it manually two-thirds of the length with the head up.Distance 5-7 mm from each other.
- The dye is sprayed over the array with screws evenly. After drying, the procedure is repeated 2-3 more times.
It is preferable to use the obtained fasteners for interior decoration of premises with low humidity.
