Plant Garter Clips

When tall vegetable plants begin to grow in the greenhouses of gardeners, then to all the concerns of the owners, measures for tying the bushes of these crops are added. Traditionally, these plants are tomatoes and cucumbers, but spacious and heated greenhouses are often used to grow flowers and even grapes. These crops also require additional anchoring of the branches. It is best to use special clips for tying tall plants in greenhouses, greenhouses and open beds, which are sold in retail outlets for gardeners, as well as in online stores.

Tying the branches of tall bushes of tomatoes and cucumbers grown in greenhouses is a prerequisite for obtaining a high and high-quality harvest. And grapes growing on a plot, even without shelter, always have a supporting structure, not to mention growing in greenhouses. Otherwise, a good harvest cannot be expected: the branches of tomatoes will break, the vines of cucumbers and grapes will "crawl" over the surface of the soil, intertwine, and the fruits will rot from dampness and be eaten on the ground by all kinds of pests. And it is hardly possible to talk about the harvest if the fruits are under a layer of leaves and intertwined branches.

Consider the main advantages of using plastic rings in comparison, for example, with the traditional method of tying cucumbers and tomatoes with clotheslines, twine threads, fabric strips (that is, improvised materials).

• Convenience in work is the main advantage of these devices. This significantly saves time for tying plants. In addition, no special skills are required for such work.
• There is no danger of plant damage.
• Precise and secure fixation of the stems to the desired place of the garter. In this case, the stem remains free to move upward as it grows.
• The clips can be used in the following seasons. It will only be necessary to sanitize them.
• Suitable for almost any plant that needs a garter (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, flowers, grapes, raspberries and many other tall or climbing crops).
• Low cost of garter material. A set consisting of 50 plastic clips costs between 70-90 rubles.
• Garter with clips does not violate the aesthetics of the appearance of plants, in the greenhouse or in the garden there is always order.
• Measures for processing and watering the beds, caring for plants and harvesting are greatly facilitated.

There are only 2 disadvantages: clamps require additional support (trellises, pegs, etc.), and also need to be removed at the end of the season. But without this, of course, you cannot do with any other type of garter.

The assembled plastic holder (clip) looks like a wide ring with a latch. In the packaging of the new set, the clips are in an unbuttoned state, so the buyer sees two half rings with a flexible bow between them and locking elements on the free sides of the half rings.

Clips are available in various types and sizes. Along with those that are used in greenhouses for growing tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant and bell peppers, there are also garden holders that differ from greenhouse ones in size, shape and principle of action.

They are used for tying bushes, fastening branches of fruit and ornamental trees when adjusting or forming a crown, as well as in breeding work when fixing grafting sites. True, ordinary plastic clips are also suitable for inoculation, which are used for garters in greenhouses.

Garter clips are quite simple to use. But first, it is necessary to arrange supports for fixing the holders. The holders themselves, when folding the half rings into a ring, clasp the stem or a separate branch of the plant, but the previously mentioned flexible bow between the half rings is precisely the clip lock to an additional support, for example, to a trellis or other static element that can support the plant.

For garters of cucumbers and tomatoes, you can arrange horizontal and vertical trellises made of wire, thick fishing line, clothesline made of artificial fibers or nylon. Only it is not necessary, as often happens with beginners, to "fence the garden", but to calculate everything correctly depending on the plants, their height, yield, bushiness. Otherwise, you can later get entangled among the ropes.
