Rose is truly considered the queen of flowers, and the Verano variety proves this with its decorative properties. This flower comes from France, it was there that a group of experienced breeders created this hybrid tea variety.
Description of the variety
Verano appeared on the territory of Russia in 2000, but even in such a short time, gardeners were able to appreciate all the advantages and disadvantages of this variety. The rose is used not only in bouquets, but also in flower beds. When buds appear on Verano, they take on an orange tint. When the flowers bloom, a slight yellow tone appears on the underside of the petals.
Verano's flowers are very bright, they look delightful in a flower bed in group plantings. The buds are goblet in shape, so this rose becomes a unique addition to bouquets. Rose Verano belongs to large varieties, each flower can reach 9-11 cm in diameter. This is a medium-sized species, up to 40 petals appear on one flower, but only one bud is formed on the stem. Verano has a medium intensity aroma.
As for the bush, it is formed erect, rarely reaches more than 120 cm in height. In width, the Verano rose grows to 80 cm on average. The foliage of the described variety is green, there are many thorns on the stems.
Advantages and disadvantages
Among the advantages of Verano roses, one can single out decorative qualities, an abundance of flowering and a pleasant aroma. Among the shortcomings, a large number of thorns and low resistance to black spot are noted.
Flowering features
The described variety blooms for a long time, the buds begin to form in June. Verano stops blooming in October. It is a re-flowering shrub, flowers bloom gradually, so the flower bed remains attractive for several months.
Use in landscape design
Verano roses look good when planted in a row in a group. They will decorate any landscape design, will be a great addition to the rose garden and even alone will decorate the front garden.
Growing regions
In our country, you can most often find the Verano rose in the front gardens near Moscow and on flower beds in the southern region.
Landing
It is best to plant roses of this variety in a well-lit area. The soil must be drained. To do this, it is advisable to add a layer of pebbles or broken bricks to the planting pit; expanded clay can be used. It is advised to plant Verano in the fall, then the plants are better accepted and by the spring they demonstrate high quality buds.
It is better not to plant this variety against walls, under trees, in the shade, in constantly damp places. Verano doesn't like drafts. An ideal solution for the described variety would be a plot on the east, south or west side. These shrubs produce more flowers. In the shade, the Verano variety grows slowly, blooms poorly, the shoots become long and thin. However, a light shade before noon even has a beneficial effect on growth.
Rosa Verano loves soil rich in humus and trace elements, with a low acidity level (up to 7.5 pH). At least one and a half meters deep, the earth must be fertile.
Growing and care
After planting Verano roses, you will need to be especially careful. A layer of mulch helps to retain moisture and protect the trunk circle from weeds. This can be straw, bark, spruce branches and even old foliage.
Watering and feeding
Roses of Verano need to ensure timely watering of the trunk circle. But the plants cannot be poured, otherwise root rot may appear.
Top dressing is applied several times during the growing season of the bushes. For the first time, top dressing is applied in May, then in July. You can use organic and mineral complexes.
In the first year, Verano rose soil is enriched with manure or ash. Mineral dressings with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium are suitable for feeding bushes. The second time, fertilization is done at the beginning or in the middle of summer. By autumn, all feeding is stopped, because they stimulate the growth of new shoots.
Pruning
Verano roses should be regularly pruned to remove diseased shoots.
Frost resistance and preparation for winter
This variety must be covered for the winter. The maximum temperature that Verano can withstand is 23 degrees below zero.
Diseases and pests
The roses of the described variety have good immunity to diseases and pests, which are most often found on roses. Verano is not affected by powdery mildew, but suffers from another disease - black spot, therefore, fungicide treatment is required.
Reproduction
You can propagate a rose of this variety in several ways. The division of the bush is carried out on the eve of winter. The bush is cut into several pieces. Each must have a good root system.
But most often, gardeners use the cuttings method. Cuttings are cut after the beginning of flowering bushes. The shoot should be about 1 cm thick, 8 cm long, and the top cut is made directly under the bud. Such a cutting should have at least 2 buds and 2 leaves. Cuttings are stuck in open ground under a glass jar or in pots at home.
The seed method is not considered a good solution because it does not retain the traits of the mother plant.
