Breeding history of the variety
Since 1995, the Gotch rose has been introduced into culture. The variety is classified as a hybrid tea species. It is mainly used for cut flowers and is rarely planted in gardens or parks.
Description of the variety
One of the amazing features of this flower is the intense fuchsia color. The shade is very bright, when the bud opens, becomes crimson, always stands out in the bouquet.
Flowers have a classic goblet shape, rather large, some reach 12 cm in diameter. This variety of roses is densely double, has a sweetish fruity aroma, but it is not too harsh.
Once cut, Gotch's flowers can stand in a vase for 18 days.
Shrubs of this variety reach 120 cm in height and up to 600 mm in diameter.
Advantages and disadvantages
The main advantage of the described variety of roses is the shade and aroma. There are no drawbacks, the only thing that you can rarely find the Gotch rose in mass plantings in flower beds.
Flowering features
The Gotcha rose blooms from June to October. It is a re-flowering variety.
Landing
Gotch roses are best planted in October, although this can be done in the spring, in April. If it is decided to choose autumn, the bushes will have time to take root before winter, and in spring they will begin to grow and give young shoots. However, it should be remembered to protect the Gotch rose from low temperatures. Frost is dangerous for young roots, and their freezing leads to death.
A place for Gotch roses can be chosen quite sunny, but without a draft. The soil is light and fertile, since only this will guarantee an excellent result. Before planting Gotch's roses in the ground, you should dig the area to a depth of about 30 cm. Drainage is laid at the bottom, then a fertile layer, and a little sprinkled with earth. Only then are the roots placed in the planting pit.
Before planting, you can immerse the roots in water, which should first be enriched with a fungicidal agent. The root system must be examined, damaged processes and too long are removed. If we plant Gotch roses in the fall season, do not cut the shoots. They only need to be cut when shrubs are planted in the spring.
Growing and care
To ensure that your plants are well cared for, you need to regularly remove weeds around the tree trunk. Mulch helps a lot in this. Its role can be played by both simple straw and the bark of conifers.
Watering and feeding
Gotch roses need systematic watering at a young age. One of the basic principles is that it is best to water in the early morning or evening so that the water penetrates deep into the soil and does not evaporate in direct sunlight.
When watering Gotch roses, care should be taken not to soak the leaves, as moisture on their surface often leads to the development of fungi. A drip irrigation system is ideal for watering these bushes.
Feeding Gotch roses begins only in the second year after planting, so that the plants have time to acclimatize in a new place. It is better to fertilize the site for planting in the fall or a year before planting roses. In the second year, organic matter is introduced, although it works slower than mineral additives, but it does not harm and does not saline the soil.
To feed Gotch's roses, it is recommended to use manure and compost, as well as vermicompost. An excellent organic fertilizer is manure, but it must be rotted, since fresh manure can burn the roots of plants. Dried manure can be applied once a season (in spring - in March or in autumn - October-November), cover the surface with it, and mix with the top layer of soil.
The source of easily digestible nutrients for Gotch roses is compost. It is weaker than manure, you can use it twice or more per season and even for the winter.
In the season, Gotch's roses are allowed to be watered with nettle infusion every 2-3 weeks, but only after preliminary dilution with water (1: 10).
Vermicompost is the mildest of organic fertilizers, so you can use it throughout the growing season, watering the bushes every 3-4 weeks. It is allowed to add coffee grounds from time to time to the substrate in which roses grow, mixing it with the top layer of soil.
A good fertilizer made from baker's yeast, which has a good effect on the growth and development of the root system of Gotch roses.
Pruning
Prune Gotch roses in early spring. Sanitization involves the removal of old and diseased shoots.
Frost resistance and preparation for winter
The frost resistance zone of Gotch roses 6. They can grow in a sunny area or in partial shade, but by winter it is better to cover young plantings with burlap or cover with straw.
Diseases and pests
Industrial fungicides and insecticides are used against diseases and pests. The preparations are diluted in the spring in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Timely prevention guarantees the preservation of the bushes from powdery mildew and black spot.
Reproduction
Gotch roses can be propagated by layering. Long shoots are tilted to the ground and covered with earth until a root system appears. A year later, you can cut off the young rooted cut from the mother plant and transplant it to a new place.
Propagation by cuttings of this variety is carried out at the end of summer. Wood cuttings are cut in September, or in October. The material should be 10-15 cm long, leaves and thorns are removed from the cuttings at the bottom. The ends of the shoots should be cut at an angle. Before planting, the stems are immersed for 15 minutes in a fungicide solution, for example Topsin M 500 SC (4-6 ml / l water).
Cuttings are planted in a dug groove 20 cm deep, preferably in a secluded and shady place if planting is done in open ground. When planting Gotch roses in a pot, you need to use a special mixture: peat mixed with bark and sand in a ratio of 3: 2: 1.
