However, there is an example of such a fantastic rose - Blue Magenta, which belongs to the so-called historical roses.
Breeding history of the variety
Blue Magenta is a rather mysterious old variety. There are several versions of its appearance. The main one is a rose obtained in 1900 in Belgium, its creator is Van Houtte. There is other information that the rose was presented to Grandes Roseraiesdu Valde Loire in 1933. They also said that the untitled rose appeared in the 1950s from L "Hay-les-Roses. Whichever version is correct, it cannot change the fact that Blue Magenta (synonymous with Bleu Magenta) is the owner of a unique, unusual color and fabulous beauty.
Interestingly, in 1994 in the UK, the variety was awarded an award of merit at the Royal Horticultural Society.
Description of the variety
Of course, it's a stretch to call a Blue Magenta rose. However, the color that she possesses is rather unusual, uncharacteristic for most roses and therefore unique. If the bud, pointed in shape, has a dark purple tone, then the blossoming flower is painted in a dark purple-violet hue, sometimes it is distinguished by the decor in the form of white strokes.
The dark color of the petals in the sun fade over time, and the flowers become almost blue. During flowering, roses change color, becoming first purple, then purple, as a result, they bloom with blue, fully opened and flat rosettes.
The shape of the opened densely double flower is flat-bowl, pom-shaped, each of them has 25-35 petals, the flowers are not very large in diameter, rather average, 5-7 centimeters, have a light unobtrusive aroma. Sometimes there is no aroma at all.
Roses on the bush are collected in small inflorescences, 5-10 flowers on one peduncle. In the active season of flowering, voluminous clusters can simultaneously number up to 30 buds.
The vigorous bushes of this unusual rose are quite powerful. The climbing plant has strong shoots reaching a length of 3-4 meters. At the same time, the branches of Blue Magenta are flexible and practically without thorns. The rose grows in width to one and a half meters. The leaves on the bush are glossy, painted in dark green tones.
Advantages and disadvantages
Since the culture was bred for a long time, the variety's resistance to major diseases and pest attacks is average. At the same time, Blue Magenta has excellent frost resistance, which makes it possible to grow it sometimes without shelter (however, this is possible in zone 5).
The culture is quite unpretentious to growing conditions, it can grow well even on poor soils, as well as in partial shade. It has good rain resistance, which is very valuable for roses and is not so common.
Flowering features
Refers to re-blooming roses. Bloom at Blue Magenta is always very abundant, long-lasting, until autumn, on the shoots of last year. During the peak flowering period, purple-purple roses can almost completely cover the glossy green foliage.
Use in landscape design
The Blue Magenta variety is ideal for vertical landscaping.Flowers will look great on any solid support. The blue rose will become a real decoration of any arch, gazebo, pergola, column, fence, canopy.
Landing
To plant the Blue Magents, they dig a hole 2-3 times larger than the roots of the bush. Drainage must be poured at the bottom, then fertilizers are placed, filling the foundation pit by half, then the garden soil. A seedling is placed, covered with earth. The inoculation site is 3-4 cm in the ground.
