Among the huge number of pink varieties, one can single out those that are in high demand and delight florists, gardeners, florists and landscape designers. Popular varieties include the Blush rose, created by American scientists. It is very easy to grow a hybrid tea species if you familiarize yourself with the intricacies of cultivation and agricultural technology.
Breeding history of the variety
Blush ("blush") hybrid tea variety of roses is an amazing creation, bred by American breeders on the basis of Pressman in 2007. Despite the fact that the flower is young enough, it has already won the attention of many rose growers around the world. Due to its high adaptive qualities, the flower is grown in almost all regions of Russia: from the middle zone to Siberia.
Description of the variety
Blush roses are neat shrubs with erect shoots. It is characterized by a perennial plant with long graceful stems, rarely dotted with sharp thorns, medium thickening with large dark green leaves with a pronounced gloss and noticeable venation, as well as a developed root system that penetrates deep into the soil. In a favorable environment, the bush grows to a height of 80-120 cm.
Due to the rapid formation of lateral shoots, the bush rapidly grows and becomes voluminous, the diameter is 60-80 cm. As a rule, from 1 to 3 buds are formed on each stem, located singly or in small-flowered inflorescences.
Advantages and disadvantages
The American flower, like most of its relatives, has a number of advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages of the Blanche rose, one can distinguish high frost resistance (the plant tolerates cold snaps up to -18-23 degrees), moderate tolerance of prolonged rains, abundant and prolonged flowering (4-5 months), as well as slow blooming of buds. The disadvantages of the culture include the burning out of petals in the scorching sun, average resistance to fungal infections, and a weak intensity of aroma.
Flowering features
The pink variety belongs to the category of continuous flowering flowers. The flowering of the bushes is very abundant and long-lasting. The buds bloom smoothly, in a wave. The period of blooming and fragrant roses begins at the end of May and lasts until October. Tall goblet buds, located mostly singly, are pinkish in color.
The slow blooming of the buds allows you to enjoy the beauty of the roses blooming for a long time. The flowers, endowed with the shape of a tall glass, are large: the diameter is 8-12 cm. When unraveling, a densely structured double flower, consisting of 50-60 petals, acquires a creamy color, diluted with a pink border. Under the scorching sun, the petals fade a little, acquiring a lighter shade. The opened roses emit a subtle fruity scent, and the edges of the petals curl playfully.
Use in landscape design
Blush tea hybrid is suitable for single plantings and for group plantings. The rose is grown in flower beds, in front gardens, in gardens and flower beds. In the compositions, the aristocrat rose is perfectly combined with bright yellow and snow-white flowers. In addition, the rose is ideal for cutting, as cut flowers retain their freshness and beauty for a very long time. The Blush rose is very popular among florists, who are happy to use it when drawing up festive flower arrangements.
Landing
Planting of American rose bushes is carried out during a period when stable heat has come (+ 14-18 degrees). As a rule, this is the beginning or middle of May. In the southern regions, planting is carried out in April.
Prepared rose seedlings are planted in pits 40-50 cm deep. It is recommended to lay out gravel drainage and a layer consisting of fertilizers and garden soil in the pits. The seedlings are placed in the holes at an inclination of 30 degrees. Upon completion of planting, they are watered with warm water, and the soil around the seedling is lightly compacted. The distance between the seedlings should be about 60-100 cm.
Growing and care
For the bushes, a leveled area is selected in the sunny part of the flower bed or garden. Flowers need abundant warmth and light. In addition, the rose must be protected from drafts. It is not recommended to plan a landing in low areas where water and cold air accumulate.
Flowers grow comfortably in loose, breathable, humus-rich soils. It is important that the soil is slightly acidic. The most suitable are light loam, sandy loam and black soil. Avoid planting rose bushes next to tall bushes and fruit trees.
Caring for rose plantations is not very difficult: regular irrigation with settled water, application of mineral and organic fertilizers, loosening and weeding of row spacings, sanitary pruning of bushes, preventive measures to protect against diseases and pests, as well as covering measures for the winter. Many growers recommend light mulching.
Watering and feeding
The rose needs regular watering. Water the bushes with warm or settled water every week. During dry periods, you can slightly increase watering. The main thing is that a dry crust does not appear on the ground. Moisture should penetrate to a depth of 30-35 cm.
It is necessary to apply fertilizers so that the bushes develop and bloom profusely. Fertilizers are applied every 2 weeks. In early spring, the plant needs nitrogen-containing complexes, and during the summer - phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.
Pruning
Growing bushes are recommended to be periodically pruned and thinned. In spring, shoots are shortened, and frozen branches are also removed. In autumn, dry, diseased and damaged shoots and leaves are removed. During the flowering period, wilted buds are cut. In addition, shrub thinning is performed annually, in which old and dry branches are cut.
Frost resistance and preparation for winter
Despite their good frost resistance, rose bushes in regions with cold, prolonged and little snowy winters need to be insulated. For this, a small frame is constructed over the landings, on which the covering material is stretched, and on top of the film. Periodically, roses need to be ventilated. In the middle and southern lane, where the indicators do not fall below -15-20 degrees, mulching using spruce branches is enough.
Diseases and pests
The immunity of flowers is average, therefore, the prevention of fungal infections is recommended, as well as the mandatory observance of the rules of agricultural technology. The rose has moderate resistance to the main diseases: powdery mildew and black spot. Among insects dangerous to roses, the leafworm, aphids and spider mites are especially distinguished.
Reproduction
The plant is propagated using cuttings. Cuttings are obtained from young shrubs that have completed the first wave of flowering. In the morning, shoots are cut, from which cuttings 5-8 cm long with several leaves are prepared. The day before planting, the rhizomes of the cuttings are treated with a growth stimulant.
