Rose Biedermeier can be attributed to the group of patio roses - miniature, dwarf, border, but sometimes it is considered a hybrid tea. In any case, the Biedermeier rose is undoubtedly one of the most unusual and touching mini varieties. Moreover, the size and shape of the flowers completely repeat the hybrid tea, while the bushes are compact in size, suitable for planting in borders, containers and other landscape compositions. That is why the flowers seem huge against the background of the bushes.
Breeding history of the variety
The authorship of this amazing rose belongs to the Tantau nursery in Germany. Name synonyms - Biedermeier, TAN97123, Avalon, Moonshine. In different sources, the year of selection differs, both 2004 and 2006 are mentioned. This baby did not go unnoticed at the famous rose competition in Vienna (Austria), where in 2009 she received the second prize.
Description of the variety
The Biedermeier rose bush is very compact, as already noted. Its branches branch, the shoots are arched, the height of the plant does not exceed 40-60 centimeters, the width of the crown is also small - 40 centimeters. At the same time, the constant growth of new shoots encourages the rose to bloom, which does not stop throughout the summer.
The buds form on a relatively short stem. They are dense, tight, have a greenish tint with a pink undertone. Clusters of peduncles form either inflorescences of 3-5 flowers, or single specimens with a diameter of 5-8 centimeters. The form is rather nostalgic, pompous. Very long blooming time, also keep on the bush for a long time. Flowers look great against a dark green background of shiny leaves.
Elegant double flowers have numerous white petals, with a light green tint, framed by a cherry-red border. Over time, the roses become light pink and the edging darker. Interestingly, when the bud is still closed, this border is practically invisible, however, after blooming, which occurs slowly, the rose appears in all its glory.
The flower stalks are of medium length, so they are ideal for cut and floristic compositions. Rose Biedermeier has a delicate pleasant aroma.
Advantages and disadvantages
There are many benefits to culture. In addition to its beauty and interesting aroma, the rose is resistant to diseases, firmly endures all the vagaries of the weather, withstanding both heat and frost. The plant belongs to the 6th winter hardiness zone (up to -23 degrees). It is noted that the Biedermeier rose is not afraid of rain or sunlight, and practically does not get sick with anything.
Roses of this variety are so versatile that they can be placed anywhere - both in the garden, on the site, and in a container if there is not enough space.
True, some complain that roses are not resistant to rain, and if necessary, it is recommended to prepare them for winter and shelter them from the cold. However, this happens for the first couple of years. In the third year, the rose will bloom wonderfully.
The only thing that will not go anywhere is that the flowers after the rain become heavy with moisture, and they need support.
Flowering features
The Biedermeier rose is one of the first to bloom. The flowering is profuse and long-lasting, the culture is a re-flowering variety. As already noted, the buds open slowly and stay on the branch for a long time. After the end of the first wave in flowering, there is a break, which falls just in the period of the July heat.In the second half of summer, the second wave of flowering begins, which continues in autumn.
