The rose is a favorite flower grown in every flower bed, in every garden. In order for flowers to delight with beauty, it is necessary to choose a variety that will grow comfortably in the climatic conditions of the region. For the Central region, as well as for the southern part of Russia, the pink Apache variety would be an ideal option.
Breeding history of the variety
Apache is a tea-hybrid rose, bred by German scientists in 2009. Authorship belongs to W. Kordes Sohne. Despite the fact that the variety is relatively new, it quickly gained popularity among flower growers in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus.
Description of the variety
The German rose is a compact plant. An upright shrub stretches up to 100-120 cm in height. The rose bush is characterized by strong shoots of dark green color, with rare spikes with sharp needles, moderate foliage with elongated leaves and a developed root system with fragile processes. The leaves of the plant are emerald green, with clear veins and a noticeable gloss on the surface. Due to the moderate formation of lateral shoots, the volume of the rose shrub is not very large - about 40-50 cm. One large flower is formed on each stem.
Advantages and disadvantages
Rose has not only an attractive appearance, but also a number of other advantages - a good immune system that protects against standard fungal infections, abundant flowering intensity with short interruptions, high frost resistance, excellent heat and sun tolerance. Disadvantages include moderate rain tolerance and low aroma intensity.
Flowering features
Apache is a richly flowering variety. The shrub blooms from June to September. The intervals between flowering are small - about 10-12 days. One goblet bud of rich orange color with a pinkish border is formed on the stem.
Dissolving, a moderately double flower, consisting of 30-35 dense and matte petals with a triangular point, becomes quite lush, with a dense tube of petals in the center. The diameter of the rose is 8-10 cm. The color of the blossoming rose is unusual - orange-pink. Fully opened buds emit a subtle floral aroma with sweetish notes.
Use in landscape design
A planted German orange-pinkish rose could be the queen of the garden. The variety is suitable for growing in mixborders, ridges, and other types of group beds. In addition, the flower looks great in single plantings, combined with exotic floral varieties. Many florists love the cultivar because it is suitable for cutting. Cut roses stay in a vase for a long time, keeping freshness and beauty.
Landing
For growing the Apache rose, a leveled and clean area is chosen, where there is a lot of light, heat, and there is also protection from drafts. The plant is comfortable in a sunny place or in a light partial shade. Experienced flower growers recommend choosing areas on a small hill so that there is no stagnation of moisture and cold air, which the plant does not like.
Rosettes grow well in light, nutritious, well-drained and breathable soils with neutral acidity. The occurrence of groundwater must be deep (100-180 cm). The German variety is planted in the spring - from mid-April to early May, or in the fall - a month before stable frosts. Planting in the fall is carried out only in the southern regions.
Growing and care
For planting, pits 50-60 cm deep are prepared in advance, where drainage from gravel or crushed stone and a dense ball (about 20 cm), consisting of manure, peat, sand and garden soil, are laid. After planting the seedling, abundant watering with warm water is required. If the soil seems very loose, it should be tamped.
Agrotechnics of a rose bush consists of basic measures - regular irrigation with settled water, fertilization, weeding and loosening, mulching, sanitary pruning, prevention of fungal infections, shelter for the winter.
Watering and feeding
The Apache rose, like most of its relatives, needs watering. Watering is carried out once a week. Do not allow the soil to dry out and form a crust on the surface. In case of prolonged drought, watering can be doubled.
It is necessary to feed the plant so that it develops and blooms profusely. In the spring, nitrogen-containing complexes are introduced. During the period of active growth, nitrogen fertilization is also applied. Phosphorus-potassium mixtures are added several times over the summer. Nitrogen fertilizers can be replaced with organic ones - compost, manure, humus.
Pruning
Pruning is a necessary procedure with several steps. Frozen branches are removed in early spring and shoots are shortened. In the fall, pruning of dry and damaged shoots is required. In the summer, it is recommended to free the bushes from wilted buds, dry leaves.
Frost resistance and preparation for winter
In regions with warm and snowy winters, roses do not need shelter - it is enough to mulch using spruce branches, which are removed in spring. Some growers sprinkle peat around the root zone. In regions with severe and little snowy winters, shelter is simply necessary, despite the fact that the variety is cold-resistant. To do this, a strong frame is erected over the pink plantings, and burlap is thrown over.
Diseases and pests
The variety has good immunity, providing resistance to a number of diseases - powdery mildew, black spot. Infection with a fungus is possible if the rules of agricultural technology or water balance are violated. It is extremely rare for pink plantings to attack a bear, a drooling penny, a leafworm and a rosy aphid.
